Die Stiftskirche St. Peter und Alexander ist die älteste Kirche Aschaffenburgs. Otto von Schwaben ließ die Kirche im 10. Jahrhundert an der Stelle eines karolingischen Rechteckbaus errichten. Der Kernbau ist als eine romanische Basilika errichtet worden, weitere Bauabschnitte sind in der Frühgotik gebaut worden. Die Kirche verfügt über reiche Kunstschätze, die zum Teil im Stiftsmuseum der Stadt Aschaffenburg ausgestellt sind, und hat seit 1958 den Status einer Basilica minor.
