The David N. Dinkins Municipal Building (originally the Municipal Building and later known as the Manhattan Municipal Building) is a 40-story, 580-foot (180 m) building at 1 Centre Street, east of Chambers Street, in the Civic Center neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City The structure was built to accommodate increased governmental space demands after the 1898 consolidation of the city's five boroughs. Construction began in 1909 and continued through 1914 at a total cost of $12 million (equivalent to $230,068,000 in 2019).

El Manhattan Municipal Building,[3]​ ubicado en el número 1 de Centre Street, es un edificio de 34 pisos construido para acomodar las crecientes demandas espaciales gubernamentales después de la consolidación de la ciudad en cinco condados (boroughs) en 1898. La construcción comenzó en 1909 y terminó en 1914,[4]​[5]​ coincidiendo con el final del City Beautiful Movement en Nueva York. William M. Kendall, de la prestigiosa firma de arquitectos McKim, Mead & White diseñó el edificio, que fue el primero en incorporar una estación del metro de Nueva York su base: la estación de Chambers Street.
