The German State Theatre Timișoara (GSTT) is a publicly funded German-speaking professional theatrical company in Timișoara (German Temeswar), the capital city of Timiș County in western Romania, where German-speaking theatre was first mentioned in 1753. The new theatre was opened in 1875, but closed in 1899 due to the increasing magyarisation in the Kingdom of Hungary. The ceremonial reopening of the German State Theatre Timișoara (GSTT) took place on 27 June 1953. The German State Theatre is located in the right wing of the National Theatre and Opera House with entrance from Strada Alba Iulia. It has a performance hall with 100 seats, which it shares with the Hungarian State Theatre.

Cu un total de 108 posturi și un număr important de colaboratori, teatrul produce între 5 și 7 premiere pe stagiune, jucând în medie în fața a 10.000 spectatori anual. Das Deutsche Staatstheater Temeswar (DSTT) ist ein öffentlich bezuschusstes deutschsprachiges Berufsensemble in Timișoara (deutsch Temeswar), der Hauptstadt des Kreises Timiș im Westen Rumäniens, wo deutschsprachiges Theater erstmals 1753 urkundlich erwähnt wurde. Das neue Theater wurde 1875 eröffnet, 1899 aber infolge der zunehmenden Magyarisierung im damaligen Königreich Ungarn wieder geschlossen. Am 27. Juni 1953 fand die feierliche Wiedereröffnung des Deutschen Staatstheaters Temeswar (DSTT) statt. Das deutsche Staatstheater befindet sich im rechten Flügel des Nationaltheater- und Operngebäudes mit Eingang von der Strada Alba Iulia. Es verfügt über einen Theatersaal mit 100 Plätzen, den es sich mit dem ungarischen Staatstheater teilt.
