Die Paulskirche in Frankfurt am Main ist ein als Ausstellungs-, Gedenk- und Versammlungsort genutzter ehemaliger Kirchbau. Sie wurde 1789 bis 1833 anstelle der 1786 abgerissenen mittelalterlichen Barfüßerkirche erbaut und diente bis 1944 als evangelische Hauptkirche Frankfurts, welche heute die Katharinenkirche ist. In dem klassizistischen Rundbau des Architekten Johann Friedrich Christian Hess tagten 1848 bis 1849 die Delegierten der Frankfurter Nationalversammlung, der ersten Volksvertretung für ganz Deutschland. Die Paulskirche gilt damit neben dem Hambacher Schloss als Symbol der demokratischen Bewegung in Deutschland. Aus dieser für die Paulskirche und die deutsche Demokratiegeschichte bedeutendsten Epoche ist von der Innenausstattung jedoch fast nichts mehr zu erleben.
