Candaba Swamp is located in the Candaba, Pampanga province, 60 km northeast of Manila in the Philippines. It encompasses about 32,000 ha, made of freshwater ponds, swamps and marshes surrounded by seasonally flooded grasslands. The entire area becomes submerged underwater during the wet season. It dries out during the months of November to April. Then the swamp is converted to farmland by the locals. Watermelon and rice are usually planted, comprising the vegetation of the floodplain, together with patches of Nipa palm and some mangrove species.
Ang Latian ng Candaba o Lusak ng Candaba (Candaba Swamp sa Ingles) ay matatagpuan sa bayan ng Candaba, Pampanga, 60 kilometro sa hilagang-silangan ng Maynila sa rehiyon ng Gitnang Luzon. Sinasaklaw nito ang 32,000 ektarya ng mga maliit na lawang tubig-tabang, mga latian at mga lusak (swamps/marshes) na pinaliligiran ng mga damuhang bumabaha nang pana-panahon. Ang buong lugar ay nagiging lubog sa tubig tuwing tag-ulan. Natutuyo ito tuwing mga buwan ng Nobyembre hanggang Abril, at ginagawang lupang-sakahan ng mga nakatira roon ang latian. Karaniwang itinatanim diyan ang pakwan at palay na bumubuo sa behetasyon ng kapatagang-bahaan, kasama na ang mga maliliit na tumpok ng sasa (Nypa fruticans) at ilang espesye ng bakawan.
