Dog Island is a small island, situated on the Gambia River in the Republic of the Gambia about 13 kilometres from the mouth of the river to the Atlantic Ocean. The area of the island is less than 3.5 hectares. During low tide the island is connected to the mainland, but during high tide it is separated by about 150 metres from the headland of Dog Island Point on the north bank of the river. The island is named after the sound made by the resident baboons, which from a distance sounds like dogs barking.

Podczas odpływu wyspa połączona jest ze stałym lądem, natomiast podczas przypływu dzieli ją ok. 150 metrów od cypla Dog Island Point przy północnym brzegu rzeki. Obecna nazwa wyspy (Psia Wyspa) pochodzi od odgłosu wydawanego przez zamieszkujące ją pawiany, który z daleka przypomina nieco szczekanie psów.
Isla Dog (en inglés: Dog Island,[1] literalmente Isla del Perro) es una pequeña isla, situada a orillas del río Gambia, en la República de Gambia,[2] a unos 13 kilómetros de la desembocadura del río hasta el Océano Atlántico. La superficie de la isla es inferior a 3,5 hectáreas. Durante la marea baja la isla está conectada con el continente, pero durante la marea alta está separada por unos 150 metros de la orilla norte del río. La isla debe su nombre al sonido producido por los babuinos (primate también llamado Papio) que residen en la isla, que desde la distancia suenan como el ladrido de los perros. El primer europeo conocido en la isla fue Alvise Cadamosto, un capitán veneciano al servicio de la príncipe portugués Enrique el Navegante en 1456, que llamó a la isla Sant' Andrea, a causa de una miembro de la tripulación fallecida llamada "Andrea", que fue enterrada allí.
