La battaglia di Varese venne combattuta il 26 maggio 1859 a Varese (Lombardia). Essa si colloca nell'ambito delle guerre austro-sarde per la conquista del Nord d'Italia, e venne appunto combattuta tra i volontari dei Cacciatori delle Alpi, comandati da Giuseppe Garibaldi, contro le truppe del Regno Lombardo-Veneto. Gli austriaci vennero sconfitti presso Como, e vennero obbligati a mantenere le truppe a nord del fronte.
The Battle of Varese was fought on 26 May 1859 at Varese (Lombardy). It was an engagement of the Second Italian War of Independence, fought between the Italian volunteers formation of the Hunters of the Alps, led by Giuseppe Garibaldi, against Austrian troops. The Austrian defeat allowed the movement of the Hunters towards Como, and obliged the Austrians to keep troops on the northern part of the front.
