Lake Eloise is a large natural freshwater lake on the south side of Winter Haven, Florida. It is part of the southern Chain of Lakes. With a 1,174-acre (4,750,000 m²) surface area, it is one of the larger lakes in Polk County, Florida. Lake Eloise has a somewhat oval shape and has a large cove on its south side. It borders Lake Summit on its northeast and it almost borders Lake Lulu on its northwest. Lake Eloise is mostly surrounded by residential areas. However, the northern half of its eastern shore is occupied by Legoland Florida, which was once Cypress Gardens, a large area theme park. Some citrus groves border the lake on its west side. Eloise Loop Road passes by the south end of the cove on the lake's south side.

Polk County is located in the State of Florida. The county population was 602,095, as of the 2010 census. Its county seat is Bartow, and its largest city is Lakeland.

Homeland is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Florida, United States. The community features a post office, a general store and historical park. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Old Lakeland High School, also known as the Polk Opportunity Center, is an historic 3-story redbrick school building located at 400 North Florida Avenue in Lakeland, Florida, USA. Built in 1926, it was designed by noted architect Edward Columbus Hosford in the late Gothic Revival architectural style.

Lake Henry, a lake that borders on the northeast side of Winter Haven, Florida, has a surface area of 848-acre (3,430,000 m²). The southwest corner of the lake is inside the Winter Haven City limits. All of the south side of the lake is bordered by mobile home parks and housing developments. A part of the west side is bordered by a mobile home park, as is part of the north side of the lake. The rest of Lake Henry is bordered by wooded areas. The Polk County Water Atlas says Lake Henry is sometimes known as Lake Drane.

Fort Meade is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,691 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 5,761. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city was named for George Meade, an officer in the Second Seminole War. Fort Meade is home to Fort Meade Middle-Senior High School, several historic buildings, Streamsong resort and Patterson Park. The area is popular with kayakers and canoers.

Mulberry High School (also referred to as Mulberry Senior High School) is a four-year public high school located in Mulberry, Florida, serving the city and surrounding areas.

Round Lake is a natural freshwater lake on the south side of Winter Haven, Florida. It is almost round in shape and has a surface area of 26.74-acre (108,200 m²). It is bordered on the north, east and southeast by houses in a gated community. On the south is a grass field, beyond which is Eloise Loop Road, and on the west and southwest is a citrus grove. Round Lake is about 660 feet (200 m) east of the south cove of Lake Winterset. This lake is swampy on much of its shore and there are ten or so minuscule islets along the shore.

Wahneta is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,731 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Dundee is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lakeshore, formerly known as Fedhaven, is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Florida, United States. Lakeshore is located in eastern Polk County, 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Nalcrest and 11 miles (18 km) east-southeast of Lake Wales. The community was established in the 1960s as a retirement community for former federal employees, and was thus named Fedhaven; when the land was later sold to private ownership, its name was changed to Lakeshore. Lakeshore has a post office with ZIP code 33854; Fedhaven and Lake Wales are both considered alternate addresses for the community. In 2004, three hurricanes severely damaged Lakeshore.

The Mulberry Phosphate Museum is located in Mulberry in Polk County, Florida. Located in the city's original railroad depot, the museum was established in 1986. Exhibitions include fossils, memorabilia and exhibits about the phosphate mining industry. In 2013 it added a recently discovered 1880s-vintage phosphate locomotive.

Loyce E. Harpe Park, formerly known as Carter Road Park, is located in Polk County, Florida . The park includes four softball fields, eight Little League baseball fields, and six soccer fields. In addition, there is a mountain bicycle trail and fishing. A dog park, DiOGi Park, opened on July 14, 2007. The park is host to various special events produced by Polk County Leisure Services throughout the year, with the Haunted Halloween Hayride and Happenings (end of October) as the largest event featured.

Lake Hartridge, with somewhat of a figure eight shape, has a surface area of 433-acre (1,750,000 m²). This lake is on the north side of Winter Haven, Florida. Most of the lake's west shore is bordered by residential areas. The northwest shore is bordered by woods. The north shore is bordered woods and clearings. The northeast is bordered by more clearings. The east central and southeast shores are bordered by woods and a few residences. At the very southeast corner is Aldora Park, a small public park. The south shore is bordered by a large church. On the southwest shore is Lake Hartridge Nature Park, a public park.

Ridge Community High School or RCHS is a public high school located on the Davenport, Florida and Haines City, Florida Line. RCHS was established in 2005 in Polk County. It currently^when serves 2,600 students and has 106 teachers on campus.^{citation needed} Ridge Community High School is one of many schools with a separate 9th Grade campus with its own front office. The main campus holds students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade with some exceptions. Ridge Community High School sits on 76 acres (310,000 m²) of land. Ridge Community High School is zoned for Davenport and Haines City. Ridge Community High School's rivals include Haines City High School, Lake Wales High School and others in Polk County. The principal of RCHS is currently Russell Donnelly who replaced Sherry Wells, the acting principal between the school's opening in 2005 and 2015 and has a few assistant principals. Ridge Community High School is part of the Polk County School Board. RCHS's mascot is the Bolt, and the school motto is Once a Bolt, always a Bolt.

South Lakeland Airport (FAA LID: X49) is a public airport located 13.5 miles south of the central business district (CBD) of Lakeland, a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The airport covers 32 acres and has one runway. The airport is also home to a regional skydiving company, Skydive Tampa Bay, Inc.

Lake Roy is a natural freshwater lake inside the city of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a 74.17-acre (300,200 m²) surface area and is located on the south side of Cypress Gardens Boulevard. The lake once had a larger surface area, but when Cypress Gardens Boulevard was upgraded it ran over some of the northern part of Lake Roy; this part had been filled so the road could be rerouted. A small part of the old lakebed is north of the street, but is more of a retention pond now, for the most part remaining dry. The lake is of an irregular shape. Lake Roy is connected by a canal on its southwest side to Lake Lulu and indirectly from there to more than twenty other area lakes. These lakes are linked by canals and are known locally as the Chain of Lakes. Most of the shore of Lake Roy is bordered by residential housing. Residential areas circle from the southeast around to the northwest side of the lake. Along Cypress Gardens Boulevard on the northwest are businesses and a hotel, Lake Roy Beach Inn, is on this street at the northeast corner of the lake.

Lake Cannon, an almost round lake, has a surface area of 333-acre (1,350,000 m²). Lake Cannon is in a highly urbanized area. On the north shore is a some vacant land and the Boys Club is on the northeast shore. The rest of the lake is surrounded by residential areas. About 300 feet (91 m) to the lake's east is Lake Mirror and 500 feet (150 m) to the southeast is Lake Howard.

Kathleen is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,280 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Jan Phyl Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,633 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Bartow Regional Medical Center is a hospital in Bartow, Florida. It is owned by non-profit health care provider BayCare. Bartow Regional Medical Center's main building is a general use hospital that includes an emergency department, an intensive care unit and various outpatient services. On the south side of Osprey Boulevard, which is south of the main building, are two medical office buildings. These buildings house physician offices and clinics, including the hospital's sleep disorders center.

Lake Maude is an oval-shaped lake on the north side of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a surface area of 54.83-acre (221,900 m²). On its north and west sides, Lake Maude is bordered by residential areas. On its entire east side is Lake Maude Nature Park and on the south Lake Maude is bordered by Avenue O Northeast.

Nichols is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Florida, United States, located 11.4 miles (18.3 km) south-southwest of Lakeland. Nichols has a post office with ZIP code 33863. The community is located on a CSX Rail spur on Polk County Road 676, less than one mile south of Florida State Road 60.

Alturas is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Polk County, Florida, United States. Its population was 4,185 as of the 2010 census. Alturas has a post office with ZIP code 33820.

Lake Ruby is a natural freshwater lake in the suburbs southeast of Winter Haven, Florida. Lake Ruby has a 259-acre (1,050,000 m²) surface area. It is one block south of Cypress Gardens Boulevard. Lake Ruby Drive borders most of the lake's north side. All of the west shore, the southwest shore and the northeast shore is bordered by gated residential communities. The south side of the lake is bordered by private land and just to the east-southeast is Lake Bess. A narrow strip of land, at its narrowest point 40 feet (12 m), separates the two lakes.

Crooked Lake is a State registered Outstanding Florida Water that is located in southeast Polk County, Florida, United States. The lake is located west of Babson Park, north and west of Hillcrest Heights and east of Crooked Lake Park. Crooked Lake is one of the largest lakes in Polk County both in terms of area and total volume with a maximum depth of 45 feet (14 m) and over 21.6 billion US gallons (82×10^⁶ m³) of water. Originally known as Caloosa Lake by the Indians, it is located on the Lake Wales Ridge, one of the highest areas in peninsula Florida.

Lake Ina is about 1,000 ft (305 m) east of Lake Roy. Lake Ina is inside the city of Winter Haven, Florida, and is bordered by Cypress Garden Boulevard on its north. In fact, a bridge carries this street over the extreme northern edge of the lake. Lake Ina has a 8.99-acre (36,400 m²) surface area. The lake is irregularly shaped and is bordered from its northeast side to its southwest side by residences. Vacant grassland borders the rest of the west side.

Babson Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,182 at the 2000 census. It is also the home of Webber International University.

Little Lake Hamilton has a surface area of 367-acre (1,490,000 m²). Little Lake Hamilton is bordered by Haines City, Florida, on its north side and is almost bordered by the town of Lake Hamilton, Florida, on its south side. This lake is in places bordered by residences and in other places is bordered by woods and pastureland. It is east of Middle Lake Hamilton and is ironically much larger than that lake.

Colt Creek State Park is a State Park in Central Florida, 16 miles (26 km) north of Lakeland off of State Road 471. It became open to the public in January 2007. Colt Creek was purchased from the Overstreet family in May 2006. This 5,067 acre park nestled within the Green Swamp Wilderness Area and named after one of the tributaries that flows through the property was opened to the public on January 20, 2007. For over 60 years this property was managed as a cattle ranch by the Overstreet family. Past activities on the land included lime rock mining, timber harvesting, citrus production and turpentining. Composed mainly of pine flatwoods, cypress domes and open pasture land, this piece of pristine wilderness is home to many animal species including the American bald eagle, Sherman's fox squirrel, gopher tortoise, white-tailed deer, wild turkey and bobcat.

Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium is a baseball field located in Lakeland, Florida. The stadium, opened in 1966, was renovated in 2002, holds 8,500 people, and was named after local resident and former Lakeland Parks and Recreation Director Marcus "Joker" Marchant. It is the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers, as well as the regular season home for the minor league affiliates Lakeland Flying Tigers and Gulf Coast Tigers. On March 15, 2011, the largest crowd in the stadium's history (10,307 people) watched a spring training game between the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox.

Lake Winterset is a large natural freshwater lake on the south side of Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a 556-acre (2,250,000 m²) surface area and is round with an oval-shaped cove on its south end. The cove is connected to the main part of the lake by a short, wide channel. This lake is almost entirely surrounded by private residences, most of them in subdivisions, the majority of them gated subdivisions. Just to the north of Lake Winterset is Cypress Gardens Boulevard. About 1,000 feet (300 m) to the west is Lake Eloise; Dollar Lake and Round Lake are just to the southeast.

Lake Rochelle, of which the main body is oval-shaped, has a smaller oval-shaped cove on its east end. This lake has a surface area of 580-acre (2,300,000 m²). The lake is located just north of Winter Haven, Florida, but is located entirely within the city limits of Lake Alfred, Florida, the main part of which is on the lake's northwest side. On that side US Highway 92 is just beyond the lake's shore. Most of the north and west sides of Lake Rochelle are bordered by woods. The east and south sides are bordered by residences and grassland.

Auburndale is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 11,032 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 12,381. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lake Link is a circular natural freshwater lake on the east side of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a 26.17-acre (105,900 m²) surface area and is surrounded on all but the southwest sides by residences. A 50 feet (15 m) canal connects it there to Lake Otis, a much larger lake. On the southwest Lakewood Causeway separates Lake Otis and Lake Link. Other than a short bridge, Lakewood Causeway is a land route.

Highland City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,051 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Tenoroc High School (THS) is a public secondary school in Lakeland, Florida. The current principal is Jason Looney, and is assisted by four Assistant principals, Bradley Hardesty, Haley Mason, Summer Fisher and Brandi Blanchard. The School Board of Polk County established Tenoroc to relieve overcrowding problems at Lakeland High School, Lake Gibson High School, Auburndale High School, and Lake Region High School. It is also one of the more technologically advanced schools owned by the School Board of Polk County and hosts a specialized learning center known as "Power Academy." Power Academy is a 4-year training program for students intending to be employed at Lakeland Electric, Polk County's municipal utility company.

Crooked Lake Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,682 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lakeland is a city in Polk County, Florida, located along Interstate 4 east of Tampa. It is generally considered part of the Tampa Bay Area. According to the 2013 U.S. Census Bureau estimate, the city had a population of 100,710. Lakeland is a principal city of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area (coterminous with Polk County), which had an estimated population of 623,009 in July 2013 based on data from the University of Florida Bureau of Economic and Business Research. It is twinned with Richmond Hill, Ontario; Imabari, Ehime, Japan; Bălți, Moldova; Portmore, Jamaica; and Chongming County, Shanghai, China through the Lakeland chapter of Sister Cities International.

Davenport is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,888 at the 2010 census. While the city of Davenport itself is very small, the area north of the city close to Interstate 4 and US 27 is experiencing explosive growth. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. The current mayor is Darlene Bradley, who is serving from 2015 to 2017.

Lake Conine is a natural freshwater lake on the north side of Winter Haven, Florida. The lake is not within the city limits, but is almost entirely surrounded by the city of Winter Haven. Lake Conine is almost as often called Lake Connie as it is called Lake Conine. In fact, the Fishing Works website site has two listings calling this lake the former name and one calling it the latter. Lake Conine is bounded on the north and southwest by residential areas. On the west and southeast are woods. On the east the lake is bordered by SR 544 (Lucerne Park Road). Lake Conine has a 237-acre (960,000 m²) surface area and it is shaped somewhat like a teardrop.

Crystal Lake is one of a large number lakes of the same name in the world, including six others in Polk County, Florida. This lake is 2.4 miles (3.9 km) west of Davenport, Florida, and north of Haines City, Florida. It has a 14.38-acre (58,200 m²) surface area and is shaped like a backwards comma. Crystal lake, a natural freshwater lake, is in a hilly area and is northwest of the intersection of Sanders Road and US Highway 27. It is in the vicinity of a large housing development and a fountain has been placed in it. On the east Crystal Lake is bordered by US 27. On the north it is bordered by a citrus grove and pastureland. From the northwest to the southwest the lake is bordered by houses and a pasture is on the southeast.

Lake Hollingsworth is a lake located near the center of the City of Lakeland, Florida. Its area is 350 acres (1.4 km²). The lake is located just east of South Florida Avenue and west of Bartow Road. Lake Hollingsworth Drive and a path for biking and walking known as the Lake-To-Lake Trail are located along the entire circumference of the lake.

Florida Southern College (commonly referred to as Florida Southern, Southern or FSC) is a private college located in Lakeland, Florida, United States. In 2015, the student population at FSC consisted of 2,500 students along with 130 full-time faculty members. The college offers 50 undergraduate majors and pre-professional programs, graduate programs in nursing, business, and education as well as post-graduate programs in nursing and education.

Legoland Florida is a theme park in Winter Haven, Florida. It opened October 15, 2011. The park encompasses 145 acres (0.59 km²), making it the second-largest Legoland park after Legoland Windsor in the UK. Built on the site of the former Cypress Gardens theme park, Legoland preserved the botanical park and redecorated the water park and roller coasters along a Lego theme.

Lake Smart is a round natural freshwater lake, with a semicircular cove on its northwest side, on the northeast side of Winter Haven, Florida. Lake Smart has a water area of 277-acre (1,120,000 m²). This lake is mostly surrounded by woods and citrus groves. On its north and west sides it is bordered by residential developments. On the northwest Florida State Route 544 runs along Lake Smart's cove.

Cypress Gardens is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,844 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lake Elbert is a circular lake with a circular cove on its southwest side. The Polk County Water Atlas says it is sometimes known as Little Elbert, but no other sources have used this name. Lake Elbert is a natural freshwater lake with a 172-acre (700,000 m²) surface area. It has ten to twelve mostly very small islands, all near shore. The largest, on the south side, is about 150 feet (46 m) long and about 75 feet (23 m) wide. It is entirely surrounded by Lake Elbert Drive. On the south side of the lake, Lake Elbert Drive is a major thoroughfare linking up on the southwest with Central Avenue and on the southeast with Dundee Road. Across the street from the lake is mostly residential housing. A small section on the southwest has two medical offices and on the northwest the lake adjoins Polk State College.

Lakeland Senior High School is the oldest public high school in Lakeland, Florida, United States. It is part of The Polk County Public Schools. Lakeland Senior High School was the original high school in the city. It also shares its campus with Lois Cowles Harrison Center for the Visual and Performing Arts. Harrison students attend academic classes at Lakeland Senior High School. In 2001 Lakeland Senior High underwent a massive renovation.

Reeves Lake, which is oval shaped, has a surface area of 27.15-acre (109,900 m²). Reeves Lake southeast side of Winter Haven, Florida, is completely within the city limits. This lake is in a suburban area. Residential areas border this lake on the northwest and eastern shores. Swampland borders much of the rest of the shore. On the southwest is a house surrounded by much land.

Loughman is a census-designated place (CDP) in the north-east corner of Polk County, Florida, United States, near the Osceola county line. The population was 1,385 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. This area has grown rapidly since 2000 due, in large part, to its proximity to Walt Disney World and the Orlando, Florida area.

The Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot is a historic Atlantic Coast Line Railroad depot in Lake Wales, Florida. It is located at 325 South Scenic Highway. On August 31, 1990, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Ridge Landing Airpark (FAA LID: 4FL5), also known as Ridge Landing Airport, is a private use airpark located four nautical miles (7 km) west of the central business district of Frostproof, a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. Ridge Landing is an airpark community located between Lake Wales and Sebring, Ridge Landing offers pilots airport homes with private airstrips. Ridge Landing is centrally located between Orlando and Tampa and equidistant to Miami and Jacksonville. It is privately owned by John Fazzini.

Lake Gibson High School is located in Lakeland, Florida, and was established in 1979.

Christina Lake, also called Christina Pit, is a wedge-shaped lake. This lake is a manmade freshwater lake just west of Lakeland Highlands, Florida. It is a mine excavation that was landscaped to become a lake. This lake has a 26.99-acre (109,200 m²) surface area. It is bounded on the east by a narrow strip of land that separates it from another converted mine pit, now called Six Pound Pond. On the north is County Road 540A, on the northeast is a business property, on the west is S. Florida Avenue (State Route 37) and on the south are residences on the north side of Christina Lake Drive.

Gibsonia is a former census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,507 at the 2000 census . Most of the community's core is now part of neighboring Lakeland. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lake Aurora is a freshwater lake located in eastern Polk County, Florida. The lake is approximately 9 miles (14 km) east of Lake Wales on State Road 60. While not a very big lake, the lake is relatively deep compared to other central Florida lakes with an average depth of 12 ft (3.7 m) and a maximum depth of 45 ft (14 m). The depth of the lake as well as its crystal blue waters indicate that the lake was probably once a sinkhole which filled with water. The lake is in an area east of the Lake Wales Ridge dominated by scrub oak with occasional sandspur clearings. The lake is perhaps best known for being the home of the Lake Aurora Christian Camp and Retreat Center, a summer camp owned by Christian churches in the central Florida area.

The Griffin Elementary School is a school building in Lakeland, Florida. It is part of the Polk County Public Schools district. The original school building was built in 1932. On June 5, 2007, this building was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as the Griffin Grammar School.

Lake Florence is a tear-shaped natural freshwater lake in east-central Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a 72.59-acre (293,800 m²) surface area. It is surrounded on all but its east and northeast sides by residential areas. On the east it is bordered by woods and on the northeast it is bordered by a citrus grove.

Medulla is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,637 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lakeland Highlands is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,557 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Twin Lakes of Lake Wales, Florida, are two small natural freshwater lakes on the south side of the city. Sometimes they are simply called Twin Lakes, but sometimes they are individually called Twin Lake West and Twin Lake East. All shores of Twin Lake West are swampy, as is the area between the two lakes. The west shore of Twin Lake East is swampy. The west lake, the larger of the two, has a water area of 18.76-acre (75,900 m²). The water area of the east lake is 15.19-acre (61,500 m²).

Cypress Gardens was a botanical garden and theme park near Winter Haven, Florida that operated from 1936 to 2009. As of 2011, the botanical garden portion had been preserved inside the newly formed Legoland Florida.

Lakeland Square Mall is a shopping mall located on the northern side of Lakeland, Florida in the United States. It is one of two enclosed malls serving Polk County. It is owned and managed by Rouse Properties, one of the largest mall owners in the United States. It is the only shopping mall located off of I-4 between Tampa and Orlando, and it serves the populations of western Polk County.

Lakeland Linder International Airport (IATA: LAL, ICAO: KLAL, FAA LID: LAL) is a public airport five miles southwest of Lakeland, in Polk County, Florida. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021 categorized it as a national reliever facility for Tampa International Airport. The airport has a Class 1 Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139 operating certificate allowing passenger airline flights.

Auburndale High School is a four-year public high school located in Auburndale, Florida, a city of 14,033 (2012 U.S. Census estimate). The school serves about 1,550 students from ninth through twelfth grades. The minority rate is 37% and the free/reduced lunch rate is 49%.

Lake Bess is a natural freshwater lake southeast of Winter Haven, Florida. It is pear shaped and has a 147-acre (590,000 m²) surface area. Two blocks from its northeast shore is a WalMart supercenter and just north of that is Cypress Gardens Boulevard. On its north-northwest side is a gated residential community. To its west is Lake Ruby. The two lakes are separated by a 40 feet (12 m) strip of land. On its south-southwest shore are residential developments. On its southeast is pastureland. On its east-northeast shore are two country clubs (Lake Bess Country Club and Care Free Country Club) and mobile homes.

Lake Dexter, which is somewhat apostrophe shaped, is a natural freshwater lake in southeast Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a 166-acre (670,000 m²) surface area. It is bounded on the east and northeast by residences, on the north by commercial property, on the northwest by residences and along its entire southwest and southern shore area by grassland. A partially completed and abandoned residential project is in the grassland at the very south side of Lake Dexter. Parts of the shore around the lake are lined by swampy areas.

Pittsburg is a town in southern Polk County, Florida, United States at Latitude 27.65361 and Longitude: -81.50278, named for the industrial heritage of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Its elevation is 105 feet (32 m). It was mostly known for phosphate mining and a heavy industry rail spur (since abandoned), used mainly for transporting phosphates and cattle. This lake is bordered on the north, northwest and the southwest sides by residential areas. On the east and part of the southeast are warehouses and business buildings. William G. Roe Park is on the southeast shore and Sertoma Park, officially called Lake Shipp Park, is on the west side of Lake Shipp.

Lake Echo, which is almost round, has a surface area of 68.92-acre (278,900 m²). Lake Echo is inside the city of Lake Alfred, Florida. The north and east shores and part of the south shore are bordered by residences. The west and southwest shores are bordered by citrus groves. The southeast shore is bordered by a wooded area. Lake Effie is a very irregularly-shaped lake just west of Highway US 27, on the west edge of Lake Wales, Florida. This lake has a 105-acre (420,000 m²) surface area. A cove on the west side of Lake Effie is mostly swamp. On the east side is the Florida's Natural Growers Visitor's Center, known as the Grove House. Florida's Natural has a large citrus processing plant east of the Grove House, on the east side of US 27.

Henley Field is a historic site in Lakeland, Florida. Built in 1922, it is located at 1125 North Florida Avenue. Clare Henley, for whom the park was named in 1942, encouraged its construction in an effort to persuade a professional baseball team to train there. Lake Pansy, an almost round lake, has a surface area of 50.42-acre (204,000 m²). This lake is on the north edge of Winter Haven, Florida. The city limits just reach water's edge on the east and southeast and the south city limits of Lake Alfred, Florida, are just across US Highway 92, which is 100 feet (30 m) northeast of Lake Pansy. The lake's north and west shores are bordered by woods. The east and northwest shores are bordered by residences and the southeast shore borders a citrus grove. Lake Pansy and the Winter Haven Municipal Airport are separated on the west side of the lake by 21st Street Northwest.

Bok Tower Gardens (also known as Bok Mountain Lake Sanctuary and Singing Tower) is a National Historic Landmark, contemplative garden, and bird sanctuary located north of Lake Wales, Florida, United States. It consists of a 250-acre (100 ha) garden, the 205-foot (62 m) tall Singing Tower with its carillon bells, Pine Ridge Trail, Pinewood Estate, and a visitor center. The tower is built upon Iron Mountain, one of the highest points of peninsular Florida, estimated to be 295 feet (90 m) above sea level. It is a National Historic Landmark that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Lake Mirror, an egg shaped lake has a surface area of 131-acre (530,000 m²). Lake Mirror is in a highly urbanized area. Other than on its northeast shore, it is surrounded by residences. On the northeast it is bordered by a woody area. about 200 feet (61 m) to its east is Spring Lake and about 250 feet (76 m) to its west is Lake Cannon.

Iron Mountain is one of the highest points in peninsular Florida, United States and a prominent point of the Lake Wales Ridge. Bradley Junction (also known as Bradley) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southwestern Polk County, Florida, United States. Its population was 686 as of the 2010 census. Bradley Junction was named after phosphate mining company executive Peter B. Bradley, who created the Charlotte Harbor & Northern Railway in July 1905. In the mid 1990s, the Florida Gulf Coast Railroad Museum moved the railroad station from Bradley Junction to Parrish. The depot was then consumed by a fire soon after the move.

Lake Otis is a natural freshwater lake located on the east side of Winter Haven, Florida. The Polk County Water Atlas says the lake sometimes is known as Little Otis, but this is confirmed nowhere else. The main part of the lake is somewhat rectangular in shape and on the south side of the main section of the lake is a long tail-shaped cove. Lake Otis has a 144 acres (58 ha) surface. It is connected on its northeast side to nearby Lake Link by a 50 feet (15 m) canal. This is the closest point between the two lakes. Other than where the shore where the two lakes are very close, Lake Otis is completely surrounded by residences. Lakewood Causeway runs between the two lakes. To the south of this area is a gated community that can be accessed by the public during the daytime. Most of the south cove is surrounded by another gated community and the public is prevented from entering it by gates that are closed all the time.

Lake Gem is a round lake on the north side of Winter Haven, Florida, United States. It is tiny and has a surface area of 3.15-acre (12,700 m²). On its north side is residential housing. On its east, west and south, it is bordered by trees. It is just north of the Polk State College campus. 11th Street Northeast passes 50 feet (15 m) to the east of Lake Gem.

Lake May, a wedge-shaped lake, is a natural freshwater lake in southwest Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a 49.07-acre (198,600 m²) surface area. It is bounded on the east and northeast by vacant land, on the northwest by commercial property, on the west and most of the south by vacant land and on the east and southeast by more commercial property. Much of the shore around the lake is lined by swampy areas.

Tower Lake is a natural freshwater lake located on the north edge of Haines City, Florida. All references to it but one have it named as Tower Lake. In the Wikimapia website, it is called Lake Tower. This lake has a 66.41-acre (268,800 m²) surface area. On the west it is bordered by Highway US 27, on the southwest by vacant land, on the southeast by Osprey Drive (which is part of the Blue Heron Bay residential community), on the northeast by the Calabay Park gated community and on the north by Bates Road. The southeast section of Tower Lake is inside the city limits of Haines City.

Mountain Lodge Lake is not labelled on most maps, even though it is larger than some neighboring lakes. It has a 39.22-acre (158,700 m²) surface area and is roughly in the shape of an hourglass. The eastern part of the hourglass is oval-shaped. The western part is round, but considerably smaller than the eastern part. The middle of the hourglass is about a one-third as wide as the width of the other two wide parts of the lake. Mountain Lodge Lake is just north of Lake Wales, Florida. It is bounded on the east by US Highway 27, on the southeast by a vehicle dealership, on the west and southwest by a citrus orchard, on the northwest by woods and on the north by Vanguard School.

Southeastern University is a private Christian liberal arts university located in Lakeland, Florida, United States. It was established in 1935 in New Brockton, Alabama as a Bible college, relocated to Lakeland in 1946, and became a liberal arts college in 1970. Lake Kissimmee State Park is a 5,930-acre (24 km²) Florida State Park located on State Road 60, 15 miles (24 km) east of Lake Wales. It contains floodplain, forest, prairie, hammock, flatwoods and Lakes Kissimmee, Tiger, and Rosalie. The park is home to 50 species of plants and animals that are either threatened, of special concern or endangered.

The Circle B Bar Reserve is an area of protected lands in Polk County, Florida. Comprising 1,267 acres (5.13 km²) at 4399 Winter Lake Road (SR 540) near Lakeland, Florida, the area is managed by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). It is jointly owned by the BOCC and the Southwest Florida Water Management District. The park was purchased in 2000 for $7.4 million using funds provided by an environmental lands acquisition referendum approved by voters in 1994.

Lake Easy is a natural freshwater lake with a 407-acre (1,650,000 m²) surface area. The lake is somewhat oval in shape and sometimes has a small island in its southeast part, depending on the lake level at the time. Lake Easy is bounded on its north by the incorporated village of Highland Park, which is also a golf resort. On its west side is grassland and a residential development. To the southwest are a citrus orchard and pastureland. On the southeast is residential housing along Lake Easy Road. Along its east side is public land.

Lake Gross is an oval-shaped lake. The Polk County Water Atlas says it is sometimes known as Lake Grassy or Lake Grass, but no other sources have used these names. Lake Gross is a natural freshwater lake with an 86.57-acre (350,300 m²) surface area. It is about 2,000 feet (610 m) southeast of Lake Eloise and about 1,200 feet (370 m) southwest of Lake Winterset. This lake is on the south fringe of Winter Haven, Florida. On the north Lake Gross is bordered by a small mobile home/RV park and on the west it is bordered by another such park, although this one is much larger. On the northeast, east and south, Lake Gross is bordered by pasture. About 200 feet (61 m) north of the lake is Eloise Loop Road.

Lake Mariam is roughly oval in shape and is on the northeast side of Winter Haven, Florida. The Polk County Water Atlas says sometimes the lake is known as Lake Marion, but a different Lake Marion is also in Polk County, Florida, where Lake Mariam is located. It has a surface area of 200 acres (809,371 m²) and is bordered on the west side, most of the south side and part of the north side by residential areas. Brandywine Health Care Center, a nursing home, is a block north of the lake. On the northwest and southwest Lake Mariam is bordered by woods and on most of the east side of the lake are woods and pastureland. On the lake's southeast side is a swampy area.

Lake Moody is a natural freshwater lake with a 409-acre (1,660,000 m²) surface area. Shaped somewhat like a flint arrowhead, Lake Moody is in an area of sparse residential development. A scattering of residences, as well as citrus groves, are on the south side of the lake along South Lake Moody Road. On the west side the lake is bordered by the Scenic Route of Highway 17. A few residences line the west side of the highway and the shore on west side is all private property. Most of the area along the highway is bordered by citrus groves. North Lake Moody Road borders the northwest part of the lake. The shore borders much of the road right-of-way on this road. Lake Moody is bordered on the northeast by citrus groves and some swampy areas of ground. A railroad line, more swamp and citrus groves line the east shore.

Lake Streety is a natural freshwater lake in south Polk County, Florida. It is 0.4 mi (1 km) southwest of Little Sun Ray and 1.4 mi (2.3 km) southwest of Sun Ray. Both of these are small unincorporated communities. Lake Streety is just north of the Avon Park Cut Off Road and is bordered on the northeast by Lake Streety Road, which is a sand road. Pabor Lake is north of the city of Avon Park, Florida. It is a natural, round forty acre lake. About eighty-five percent of the lake is in Polk County, Florida. The remainder of the lake is in Highlands County, Florida. The lake can be used for fishing and boating, but there is no swimming beach.

Lake Lulu is a natural freshwater lake in Winter Haven, Florida. The lake has a 315-acre (1,270,000 m²) surface area and has a somewhat irregular oval shape. It is bounded on the north and northeast by private residences. It has no eastern or western sides, as the lake's shore comes to a point on those two sides. At the eastern point, it is bounded by West Lake Eloise Drive and about 75 feet (23 m) beyond that is Lake Eloise. The entire south side of the lake is lined with a swampy area and a dense growth of trees.

Lake Hamilton is somewhat round with a large cove at its northwest edge. It also has a peninsula, sometimes called Bonars Island, on its north side that juts about 2,000 feet (610 m) south into the lake. During times of high water levels this peninsula becomes a large island. Lake Hamilton has a surface area of 2,184-acre (8,840,000 m²). One large island is in the south-central part of the lake; it measures 1,410 feet (430 m) long by 1,060 feet (320 m) wide. Another large island is near the northeast shore of Lake Hamilton; it measures 825 feet (251 m) long by 470 feet (140 m) wide. At least two small islands are also within Lake Hamilton.

Brewster is a ghost town in southwest Polk County, Florida, United States, ten miles south of Mulberry. It is at an elevation of 143 feet above sea level and has been uninhabited since the early 1960s. The population is 3, according to the 2010 Census.

Lake Daisy is a natural freshwater lake on the east side of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a somewhat oval shape and has a 131-acre (530,000 m²) surface area. On all but its northeast shore it is bordered by residential areas. On the northeast is a residential area that has been only about one-tenth completed. On the northwest of Lake Daisy is a short canal that connects it to the tiny Lake Doll.

Eagle Ridge Mall is a regional, enclosed shopping mall located on the north side of Lake Wales, Florida. This mall has two anchor stores: JCPenney and Dillard's. It also has a Regal Cinemas, which has twelve theatres, and a large entertainment center, which contains a bowling alley, a large video arcade, a restaurant and meeting rooms. On the north side of the mall is a large food court and a carousel. Sears relocated from an existing mall, Winter Haven Mall, in nearby Winter Haven.

Frostproof is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The city is located in southern Polk County on the Lake Wales Ridge. The population was 2,975 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 2,954. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.
