The Split Archaeological Museum is the oldest museum in Croatia when it was established in 1820 by a decree of the Dalmatian government in Zadar. Some 150,000 artifacts cover prehistoric times, the period of Greek colonization of the Adriatic, Roman Provincial and Early Christian era to the early Middle Ages and the period of Croatian popular rulers. There is a collection of stone inscriptions from Salona and the collections of Graeco-Hellenistic ceramic objects, Roman glass, ancient clay lamps, bone, and metal articles, gems and coins.

Originally used as a park by the citizens as early as the 3rd century, it is a favorite weekend excursion destination and a recreational center for the city. The Venetian Castle (Croatian: Mletački kaštel) was a medieval castle built during the 15th century in Split, present-day Croatia. Built just south-west of the Diocletian's Palace along the shoreline, the castle had an irregular pentagonal shape with three towers facing north and overlooking the city. The decision to build the castle was made in 1424, however, it wasn't until 1441 that it was actually built on the grounds of a demolished monastery. By the early 16th century, the castle was in poor condition and it wasn't until the first half of the 17th century that work on improving it began.

Ženski samostan sv. Arnira u Splitu je bio ženski rimokatolički samostan u Splitu. Osnovao ga je 1069. godine nadbiskup Lovro († 1099.) blizu sjevernog zida Dioklecijanove palače, na mjestu predromaničke crkve Sv. Benedikta (Sv. Eufemije). Prve sestre benediktinke bile su Katena, kasnije predstojnica samostana, njena sestra Stana te Ana, Agapis, Vera i druge. Samostan je ubrzo postao utočište splitskih plemkinja i drugih odličnica.
