The Učka Tunnel (Croatian: Tunel Učka) is a toll tunnel on the A8 motorway in Croatia. Being part of the Istrian Y network in Istria, it is 9.1 meters (30 ft) wide and 5,062 m (16,608 ft) long, the third longest in Croatia after the Mala Kapela and Sveti Rok tunnels. The tunnel consists of a single tube, with two traffic lanes. Construction on the existing tunnel tube began in 1978 and it was opened for traffic on September 27, 1981. It is currently used for traffic in both directions. An additional tunnel tube is under construction.

It covers an area of approximately 220 km2 that is 25 km long and 13 km wide. Geographical borders in the west are the Raša river, and the bay of the same name, in the south and east the sea, and in the north Plomin Bay, the southern part of the Učka massif and Kvarner Bay, and, until the beginning of the 20th century, Lake Čepić (Čepić basin). The center is Labin after which it is named. Labin was the head township of the Labinština or Agro Albonese under the Roman Empire, during the Venice Republic between 1365 and 1797, the Austrian rule between 1814-1918 and many other occupations by foreign armies.

The Basilica of Santa Maria del Canneto, or Santa Maria Formosa, was a sixth-century Byzantine church erected in Pola (modern-day Pula, Croatia) under the patronage of Maximianus, bishop of Ravenna. The structure was damaged at the time of the Venetian sack of Pola in 1243, and building material was subsequently taken from the ruins and primarily incorporated into the Marciana Library and the Basilica of Saint Mark in Venice. Of the large, triple-nave church, comparable in splendour to the Euphrasian Basilica in Parenzo (modern-day Poreč), only one of the lateral chapels survives. It constitutes the sole construction in Pola dating to the Byzantine period.

Piran Coastal Galleries (Slovene: Obalne galerije Piran, Italian: Gallerie Costiere Pirano) is a public institution, encompassing a group of six contemporary art galleries. Three galleries are located in Piran, two of them in Koper, and one in Venice. The institution is the center of contemporary art in Slovenian Littoral, one of the four most influential art galleries in Slovenia, and the only one having an outpost abroad, in Venice. They present Slovenian as well as international contemporary artists, keep a rich art museum collection, publish art books and catalogues of exhibitions, and manage a library of modern art. The Sečovlje Saltworks (Slovene: Sečoveljske soline; Italian: Saline di Sicciole) is the largest Slovenian salt evaporation pond. Along with the Strunjan Saltworks, they are the northernmost Mediterranean saltworks and one of the few where salt is still produced in a traditional way, as well as a wetland of international importance and a breeding place for waterbirds. They are part of the Piran Saltworks and are located at Parecag in Slovenian Istria, the southwest of the country, at the Adriatic Sea, along the mouth of the Dragonja River near Sečovlje.

Haliaetum was a Roman port that stood in the area of Simon Bay, next to the modern village of Jagodje, on the northern Adriatic coast of the Istrian peninsula. Remains visible at extreme low tide include parts of its pier as well as various port buildings. Some excavations have been carried out in recent years, with more excavations planned in the future. The site is also open to tourists. The port was first established around 178–177 BC following fierce resistance by the Histri, the indigenous population. It gave name to St. Mary of Haliaetum Church (Slovene: cerkev sv. Marije Alietske) in Izola, the coastal town just southwest of Jagodje. It was erected in the 11th century and was later redesigned in the Baroque style.
