Der Dicke Turm oder auch Frauenturm ist ein Teil der historischen Görlitzer Stadtbefestigung; er steht etwa 1,4 km westlich vom 15. Grad östlicher Länge. Der 46 m hohe Turm wird aufgrund seiner Massivität von den Görlitzern „Dicker Turm“ genannt. Er ist der massivste Turm der Stadt, seine Mauerstärke beträgt im unteren Teil bis zu 5,34 m. Außer ihm sind noch der Nikolaiturm und der Reichenbacher Turm erhalten. Insgesamt besaß Görlitz vier große Wach- und Wehrtürme.

The Thick Tower (German: Dicker Turm, pronounced [dɪkɐ tʊrm]) erected in 1250 is part of the historic fortification of Görlitz. The 46-metre (151 ft) tall tower is the most massive tower in the city. Its walls in the lower part reach a thickness of 5.34 metres (17.5 ft), thus the name of a thick tower. Apart from it, the Nikolai Tower and the Reichenbach Tower are still preserved. In total, Görlitz had four large watchtowers and defense towers.
