Der Dom St. Peter und Paul zu Brandenburg, kurz der Brandenburger Dom, ist das größte Kirchengebäude der Stadt Brandenburg an der Havel und wird aufgrund seiner kulturhistorischen Bedeutung als „Wiege der Mark Brandenburg“ bezeichnet. Der Bau begann 1165 auf der Dominsel als einschiffige, kreuzförmige, romanische Saalkirche in Backstein mit späteren Erweiterungen zu einer dreischiffigen Kreuzbasilika im Stil der Backsteingotik. Der Sakralbau war Kern des historischen Bistums Brandenburg, welches ursprünglich 948 durch Otto I. gegründet wurde für die Slawenmission, welche aber zunächst scheiterte. Das Bistum wurde 1161 neu gegründet mit kurz darauf folgendem Dombaubeginn. Mit der Reformation im 16. Jahrhundert wurde der Dom protestantisch und gehört heute zur Evangelischen Kirche Berlin-Brandenburg-Schlesische Oberlausitz. Schutzpatrone sind Petrus und Paulus. Der Dom und sein Museum beherbergen heute wertvolle Kunstwerke vom Mittelalter bis ins 20. Jahrhundert. Das Domstiftsarchiv ist das älteste Archiv östlich der Elbe und beinhaltet die Urkunde mit der Ersterwähnung der Stadt Berlin.
The St. Peter and Paul cathedral (short: Brandenburg Cathedral) is the largest medieval church in Brandenburg an der Havel, Brandenburg, Germany. Construction began in 1165 as a Romanesque Saalkirche. It was expanded several times to a three-aisled Brick Gothic basilica. The cathedral is commonly designated “the cradle of the Mark Brandenburg” for its historic significance. The patron saints are Peter and Paul.
De HH. Petrus en Paulusdom (Duits: Dom Sankt Peter und Paul) is een protestants kerkgebouw van nationale betekenis in de Duitse plaats Brandenburg an der Havel in de deelstaat Brandenburg. Het bouwwerk was ooit de kathedraal van het bisdom Brandenburg en ligt op het zogenaamde Dominsel Brandenburg (domeiland). Tot de gemeentelijke herindeling in 1929 was het Dominsel Brandenburg een zelfstandige gemeente, tegenwoordig is het onder de naam Dom een stadsdeel van Brandenburg an der Havel.
La cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Brandebourg (en allemand : Dom Sankt Peter und Paul zu Brandenburg) est une église protestante, le plus grand édifice religieux de la ville de Brandebourg-sur-la-Havel, dans le land de Brandebourg en Allemagne. Construite à partir de l'an 1165 sur une île de la Havel, elle est considérée comme le berceau de la marche de Brandebourg. À l'origine une église-halle romane à nef unique, l'édifice a par la suite été agrandi dans le style d'une basilique de l'architecture gothique de brique.
