Internationale Gartenbauausstellung 2003 (Q1319822)

Die Internationale Gartenbauausstellung, kurz IGA, fand 2003 in Rostock statt. Als Standort wurden wassernahe, nicht genutzte Brachflächen und der Rest des ehemaligen Dorfes Schmarl an der Warnow ausgewählt, dies bot den Planern die Chance, eine Gartenbauausstellung mit Bezug zum Wasser zu schaffen. Weitere geläufige Namen für die Gartenbauausstellung sind Gartenausstellung und Gartenschau.

The 2003 World Horticultural Exposition (in German: Internationale Gartenschau 2003) was organized in the City of Rostock in Germany. It was the 17th international horticultural exposition which was recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions. The park was created in a derelict area around ruins of the former village of Schmarl, on the banks of the river Warnow. This made it possible to have a connection between water and gardens.

De Internationale Gartenschau 2003 (IGA 2003) vond in 2003 plaats in Rostock. Het was de 17e internationale tuinbouwtentoonstelling die door het Bureau International des Expositions erkend. Als locatie werd gekozen voor braakliggende terreinen aan het water rond de overgebleven woningen van het dorp Schmarl aan de Warnow. Dit bood de mogelijkheid om een tuinbouwtentoonstelling met een relatie tot het water te organiseren.
