World Council of Churches (Q283639)

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is a worldwide Christian inter-church organization founded in 1948 to work for the cause of ecumenism. Its full members today include the Assyrian Church of the East, the Oriental Orthodox Churches, most jurisdictions of the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Old Catholic Church, the Lutheran Churches, the Anglican Communion, the Mennonite Churches, the Methodist Churches, the Moravian Church and the Reformed Churches, as well as the Baptist Churches and Pentecostal Churches. Notably, the Catholic Church is not a full member, although it sends delegates to meetings who have observer status. The WCC arose out of the ecumenical movement and has as its basis the following statement:

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE ou CŒE, en anglais World Council of Churches - WCC) est une organisation non gouvernementale à intérêt social et à caractère confessionnel, fondée en 1948, qui se veut une « communauté fraternelle d'Églises qui confessent le Seigneur Jésus-Christ comme Dieu et Sauveur selon les Écritures et s'efforcent de répondre ensemble à leur commune vocation pour la gloire du seul Dieu, Père, Fils et Saint-Esprit » . L'objectif du COE est l'harmonie entre les chrétiens au travers de réalisations concrètes communes. Il n'a pas vocation à devenir une « super-Église ». Son siège est situé au Grand-Saconnex, près de Genève en Suisse.

Il Consiglio ecumenico delle Chiese (CEC), (noto anche con il nome Consiglio mondiale delle Chiese (CMC) dalla denominazione inglese World Council of Churches WCC), è l'organo principale che si occupa del dialogo fra le differenti Chiese cristiane nel mondo. Si descrive come una «comunità fraterna di Chiese che confessano il Signore Gesù Cristo come Dio e Salvatore, secondo le Scritture, e si sforzano di rispondere insieme alla loro vocazione comune per la gloria di un solo Dio, Padre, Figlio e Spirito Santo» (Costituzioni del CEC, art. 1 – neretto redazionale). Il CEC è stato fondato nel 1948 e ha sede a Ginevra, in Svizzera.

Fue fundado por 147 iglesias, el 23 de agosto de 1948 en Ámsterdam. Su sede está en Ginebra, Suiza; a él están afiliadas 348 iglesias y denominaciones con cerca de 600 millones de cristianos en más de 120 países.
