Žatec (německy Saaz) je město na severozápadě Česka, v Ústeckém kraji, v okrese Louny. Leží na řece Ohři. Žije zde přibližně 19 tisíc obyvatel, což ze Žatce činí největší město okresu. Historické centrum s jeho průmyslovou čtvrtí z 19. století, ve které je největší koncentrace staveb spojených se zpracováním chmele a obchodováním, bylo roku 2023 zapsáno na Seznam světového kulturního dědictví UNESCO. Žatec dne 18. dubna 2024 obdržel ocenění Historické město roku 2023 a osmkrát získal obdržení Historické město kraje.

Žatec (Czech pronunciation: [ˈʒa.tɛt͡s]; German: Saaz) is a town in Louny District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 19,000 inhabitants. It lies on the Ohře river. Žatec is famous for an over-700-year-long tradition of growing Saaz noble hops used by several breweries. Žatec and the Landscape of Saaz Hops was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument reservation and partly also as an urban monument zone.

Žatec (deutsch Saaz) ist eine Stadt im Okres Louny (Bezirk Laun) im Ústecký kraj (Aussiger Region) im Nordwesten Tschechiens. Unter dem böhmischen König Ottokar II. Přemysl wurde sie im Jahr 1265 zur königlichen Stadt erklärt, mit besonderen Privilegien ausgestattet und war bis 1848 das Verwaltungszentrum des Saatzer Kreises. Im Jahre 1868 wurde Saaz Sitz der Bezirkshauptmannschaft des Bezirkes Saaz.
