La cupola del duomo, alta 97 metri, è la quarta in Italia per altezza e dimensione, superata soltanto dalla basilica di San Pietro, dal Pantheon (di altezza minore ma più larga) a Roma e dalla basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore a Firenze.

Pavia Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Pavia) is a church in Pavia, Italy, the largest in the city and seat of the Diocese of Pavia. The construction was begun in the 15th century on the site of two pre-existing Romanesque, "twin" cathedrals (Santo Stefano and Santa Maria del Popolo). The cathedral houses the remains of St. Sirus, first Bishop of Pavia, and a thorn purported to be from the Crown of Thorns worn by Christ. The marble facing of the exterior was never completed.

Jahrhundert an der Stelle von zwei bestehenden romanischen „Zwillingskathedralen“ (Santo Stefano und Santa Maria del Popolo) begonnen. Die Kathedrale beherbergt die Überreste von St. Syrus von Pavia, dem ersten Bischof von Pavia, und einen Dorn, der angeblich von der Dornenkrone Christi stammt. Die Marmorverkleidung der Außenseite wurde nie fertiggestellt. Die 97 Meter hohe Kuppel des Doms ist die viertgrößte in Italien und wird nur vom Petersdom in Rom, der Kuppel des Pantheons in Rom und der Kathedrale von Florenz übertroffen.
