SM UC-61 was a German Type UC II minelaying submarine or U-boat in the German Imperial Navy (German: Kaiserliche Marine) during World War I. The U-boat was ordered on 12 January 1916, laid down on 3 April 1916, and was launched on 11 November 1916. She was commissioned into the German Imperial Navy on 13 December 1916 as SM UC-61. In five patrols UC-61 was credited with sinking 12 ships, either by torpedo or by mines laid. UC-61 was stranded north of Boulogne on 26 July 1917. The U-boat's crew flooded and scuttled their ship before surrendering to French authorities. The wreckage silted up but in some years becomes visible at low tide offshore in Wissant. As of 24 January 2019, the submarine had been partially visible since December 2018, and some locals were hopeful that due to shifting winds and tides, the submarine would be visible more often.
L'Unterseeboot UC-61 ou SM UC-61 est un sous-marin allemand (U-Boot) de type UC II utilisé par la Kaiserliche Marine pendant la Première Guerre mondiale.
SM UC 61 war ein deutsches U-Boot der Klasse UC II. Es war im Ersten Weltkrieg unter der Führung von Georg Gerth im Einsatz. Durch eine von der UC 61 vor der Hafeneinfahrt von Brest gelegte Minensperre ging der französische Panzerkreuzer Kléber im Juni 1917 verloren. Nachdem die UC 61 an der französischen Küste bei Wissant südwestlich von Calais auf Grund gelaufen war, wurde sie von der Mannschaft durch eine Sprengung zerstört. Das Wrack von UC 61 liegt auf Position 50° 53′ 29,8″ N, 1° 39′ 42,5″ O am Strand.

Zwodowany 11 listopada 1916 roku w stoczni AG Weser w Bremie, został przyjęty do służby w Kaiserliche Marine 13 grudnia 1916 roku. W czasie służby operacyjnej w składzie Flotylli Flandria okręt odbył pięć patroli bojowych, w wyniku których zatonęło 11 statków o łącznej pojemności 13 821 BRT i krążownik pancerny „Kléber” o wyporności 7578 ton, zaś dwa statki o łącznej pojemności 3476 BRT i jeden okręt o wyporności 570 ton zostały uszkodzone. 26 lipca 1917 roku SM UC-61 wszedł na mieliznę nieopodal Calais, a następnie został zniszczony przez załogę, by nie wpadł w ręce wroga. Na przełomie 2018 i 2019 roku wrak okrętu był widoczny podczas odpływów na plaży w Wissant.
