Blombos Cave is an archaeological site located in Blombos Private Nature Reserve, about 300 km east of Cape Town on the Southern Cape coastline, South Africa. The cave contains Middle Stone Age (MSA) deposits currently dated at between c. 100,000 and 70,000 years Before Present (BP), and a Late Stone Age sequence dated at between 2000 and 300 years BP. The cave site was first excavated in 1991 and field work has been conducted there on a regular basis since 1997, and is ongoing.

De Blombos-grot ligt op het zuidelijkste puntje van Zuid-Afrika ten oosten van Kaap Agulhas. De grot wordt sinds 1991 wetenschappelijk onderzocht. Er zijn diverse voorwerpen gevonden die een belangrijke wending gaven aan de discussie over het vervaardigen van kunst door de vroege moderne mens (Homo sapiens). Er werden stenen werktuigen en honderden stukken rode oker gevonden.

Blombosgrot is ’n argeologiese terrein in die Blombosfontein-natuurreservaat naby Heidelberg, Wes-Kaap, sowat 300 km oos van Kaapstad. Die grot bevat neerslae van tussen omstreeks 100000 en 70000 v.C., uit die middel-Steentydperk, en tussen omstreeks 2000 en 300 v.C., uit die Neolitikum. Opgrawings is in 1991 die eerste in die grot gedoen en sedert 1997 word veldwerk gereeld daar gedoen.
