Der Deutsche Caritasverband ist ein 1897 in Köln gegründeter Dachverband der organisierten Caritas (lateinisch für Nächstenliebe, Hochschätzung) und Wohlfahrtsverband der römisch-katholischen Kirche in Deutschland. Er ist in der Rechtsform eines eingetragenen Vereins (e. V.) und Spitzenverband von über 900 einzelnen Organisationseinheiten – die meisten davon als selbstständig eingetragene Vereine. Er ist Teil der Liga der so genannten Spitzenverbände der freien Wohlfahrtspflege in Deutschland. Die Spitzenverbände arbeiten zusammen in der Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege.
