Der Alte Friedhof in Neuburg, einem Stadtteil von Freiburg im Breisgau, ist ein 2,65 ha großer stillgelegter Friedhof mit parkartigem Charakter und einer der ältesten noch in seiner Gesamtheit erhaltenen Friedhöfe in Deutschland. Er befindet sich in der Nähe der Ludwigskirche, wird aber meistens fälschlicherweise Herdern zugeordnet. Es sind ungefähr 1200 Grabmale vorhanden, von denen etwa die Hälfte erhaltenswert sind. Um die Erhaltung und Pflege kümmert sich ein Förderverein. Der Friedhof ist vom Denkmalschutz als Kultur- und Naturdenkmal eingestuft und ein Zeugnis von Totenkult, Stadtgeschichte und Stilepochen des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts.
The old cemetery (German: Alter Friedhof) in Neuburg, a district of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, covers an area of 2.65 hectares. Situated on park-like grounds, the old cemetery is one of Germany's oldest cemeteries that have been abandoned and preserved as a whole. Located close to the Ludwigskirche, it is often mistaken to be part of the neighboring district Herdern. Providing tombs to an estimate of 1200 people, half of them are worthy of preservation. El viejo cementerio (nombre local: alter Friedhof) de Friburgo de Brisgovia, Baden-Wurtemberg, Alemania, en el barrio Neuburg, al norte del casco viejo. Tiene una superficie de 2,65 ha y fue utilizado como cementerio de la ciudad desde 1683 hasta 1872, cuando fue convertido en un parque. Tiene más de treinta bancos, una fontana, la capilla de San Miguel, varias tumbas, un monumento recordando el huracán Lothar.[1] Destaca la tumba de Caroline Walter en la muralla oriental del cementerio, que murió de tuberculosis en 1867 a la edad de sólo 16 años, y que tradicionalmente siempre está decorada con un ramo de flores.[2]
