Messatida (Greek: Μεσσάτιδα) is a former municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Patras, of which it is a municipal unit. The seat of the municipality was in Ovria. It is located south of Patras city centre, and stretches from the urbanized plains near the Gulf of Patras to the Omplos hills in the east. It has an area of 66.366 km².
Achaia Clauss is a Greek winery located in Patras in the Peloponnese. It was founded in 1861 by the Bavarian Gustav Clauss. It is most famous for its fortified red wine, Mavrodaphne. The winery was the main sponsor of the local basketball team, Apollon Achaia Clauss.
The Hellenic Open University (HOU; Greek: Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο, ΕΑΠ) was founded in 1992 in Patras and is the only online/distance-learning public university in Greece. Modelled on the British Open University, the Hellenic Open University was established to fill a gap for telematic and distance education in the higher education system of the Hellenic Republic in response to the growing demand for continuing education and lifelong learning.
Demenika (Greek: Δεμένικα) is a village/suburb in the municipality of Patras, Achaea, Greece. It lies 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south of the city centre, south of the river Glafkos. It is part of the community of Saravali within the municipal unit of Messatida. It is 2 km northeast of Ovrya and 4 km east of Paralia. The Greek National Road 33 (Patras - Tripoli) passes through the village, and the new Greek National Road 9 (Patras - Pyrgos) passes south of the village.
Kallithea (Greek: Καλλιθέα, before 1981: Καλλιθεόκαμπος - Kallitheokampos) is a community in the suburbs of Patras in Achaea, Greece. It is situated 9 km south of downtown Patras, on the Greek National Road 33 to Tripoli. The community consists of the villages Kallithea and Ano Kallithea, and is part of the municipal unit Messatida within the municipality of Patras. The nearest villages are Ovrya to the north and Thea to the west. To the east lies the mountain Omplos.
Saravali (Greek: Σαράβαλι) is an important village and community in the municipal unit of Messatida, Patras, Achaea, Greece. The community is located at the southeastern edge of the agglomeration of Patras. The community consists of the villages Saravali, Agios Stefanos, Demenika (the largest village), Kefalovryso and Bakari. Saravali is 6 km south of Patras city centre. Adjacent communities are Petroto to the east, Patras to the north, Ovria to the west and Krini to the south. The Greek National Road 9 (Patras - Pyrgos) runs through the community.
Petroto (Greek: Πετρωτό) is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Messatida, Patras, Achaea, Greece. The community consists of the villages Petroto, Mavromandila and Agia Paraskevi. Mavromandila is by far the largest village of the community. Mavromandila is located 6 km southeast of Patras city centre, just outside the Patras beltway (Greek National Road 9). The small mountain villages Petroto and Agia Paraskevi are located resp. 5 and 9 km southeast from Mavromandila, to the east and southeast of Omplos mountain. The renowned Achaia Clauss winery is situated in Mavromandila.
Krini is a village and community in the Patras municipality, southwestern Greece.
Η Θέα είναι χωριό της Δημοτικής Ενότητας Μεσσάτιδος του Δήμου Πατρέων και απέχει περίπου 11 χιλιόμετρα από το κέντρο της Πάτρας. Είναι έδρα της ομώνυμης τοπικής κοινότητας που ανήκουν επίσης οι οικισμοί Παυλόκαστρο και Λυγιές. Στην απογραφή του 2011 ο οικισμός είχε πληθυσμό 409 κατοίκους ενώ η συνολικά η κοινότητα είχε 508. Συνορεύει με την Καλλιθέα, το Μιντιλόγλι και την Οβρυά.
Η Κρυσταλλόβρυση (παλαιότερα: Μπαρδικώστα) είναι μικρό ορεινό χωριό της Αχαΐας. Σήμερα αποτελεί τοπική κοινότητα του Δήμου Πατρέων. Έως το 2010 αποτέλεσε δημοτικό διαμέρισμα του πρώην Δήμου Μεσσάτιδος.
The Oblou Monastery (Greek: Μονή Ομπλού) is located in Achaia and is built on the mountain that is today called Oblos. It is one of the most historic Monasteries of modern Greece, which appears involved in every important historical moment.
Sidirokastro (Greek: Σιδηρόκαστρο literally "the iron castle") was a castle in Achaea, Greece, situated between the villages Krini and Kallithea. It is located on one of the foothills of the Panachaiko, the Omplos, near the Omblos Monastery in Zoitada. Little remains of the castle. It is unknown when exactly it was built, most likely by the Franks of the Principality of Achaea. It was used for the defense of Patras, around which the Venetians had built many small castle-fortresses.
