Douglas County is a county in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 49,488. Its county seat is Minden. Douglas County comprises the Gardnerville Ranchos, NV Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Reno–Carson City–Fernley, NV Combined Statistical Area.

The airport is about five miles north of Minden. It is home to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center and regional firefighting air tanker base.

Friday's Station, on US 50 between Kingsbury Grade and Loop Road in Stateline, Nevada, was originally a two-story log-frame building prior to the addition of white lumber siding. It served as a Pony Express station and inn in 1860. In 1986, it was known as Park Cattle Company Residence and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The two-story log-frame white building is visible from U.S. Route 50 near the California-Nevada border at Stateline, Nevada.

SS Tahoe was a steamship that operated on Lake Tahoe at the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th. Scuttled in 1940, the wreck presently lies in 400 feet (120 m) of water off Glenbrook, Nevada. The wreck was first visited in 2002 by a team from New Millennium Dive Expeditions (NMDE) in a record-setting high-altitude dive for Lake Tahoe. As a result of the work that NMDE did on the Tahoe site from 1999 up to their dives in 2002, Tahoe became the first maritime site in Nevada to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) was formed in 1969 through a bi-state compact between California and Nevada which was ratified by the U.S. Congress. Straddling the state borders of California and Nevada in the Sierra Nevada, the LTBMU encompasses 154,851 acres (626 km2) of National Forest system lands, ranging in altitude above sea level from 6,225 feet (1,897 m) at lake level to 10,881 feet (3,317 m) at Freel Peak. The U.S. Forest Service established the LTBMU in 1973. The name of the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit reflects a unique sort of National Forest.
The Minden Butter Manufacturing Company, also known as the Minden Creamery, is a historic creamery building located at 1617 Water St. in Minden, Nevada. Built in 1916, the creamery was designed by noted Nevada architect Frederic Joseph DeLongchamps. The creamery replaced the Minden Butter Manufacturing Company's first building, which was built in 1908, so the company would have space to pasteurize its products. The company sold butter and other produce under the Windmill brand name and eventually became the largest creamery in Nevada. While the company mainly shipped its goods to the San Francisco area, it also sold internationally; the year before the creamery was built, it sent a large shipment of butter to China. The creamery building is now used by Bently Nevada for manufacturing purposes.

Mount Siegel is the highest mountain in the Pine Nut Mountains of Douglas County in Nevada, United States. It is the most topographically prominent peak in Douglas County and ranks forty-sixth among the most topographically prominent peaks in Nevada. The peak is on public land administered by the Bureau of Land Management and thus has no access restrictions.

Dresslerville, also known as Dresslerville Colony, is an unincorporated area in Nevada that is home to a Washoe tribe community. It was named for Nevada state senator William F. Dressler who donated a 40-acre tract to the Washoe tribe. US Route 395 runs nearby and a historical marker commemorates the area's history. A school opened in the area in 1924. The community is along the East Fork Carson River.
