The Galata Tower (Turkish: Galata Kulesi), officially the Galata Tower Museum (Turkish: Galata Kulesi Müzesi), is a medieval Genoese tower in the Galata part of the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey. Built as a watchtower at the highest point of the mostly demolished Walls of Galata, the tower is now an exhibition space and museum, and a symbol of Beyoğlu and Istanbul.
Beyoğlu (Turkish: [ˈbejoːɫu]; Ottoman Turkish: بكاوغلی) is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 9 km2, and its population is 225,920 (2022). It is on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey, separated from the old city (historic peninsula of Constantinople) by the Golden Horn. It was known as the region of Pera (Πέρα, meaning "Beyond" in Greek) surrounding the ancient coastal town Galata which faced Constantinople across the Horn. Beyoğlu continued to be named Pera during the Middle Ages and, in western languages, into the early 20th century.
Gezi Park is an urban park next to Taksim Square, in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district (historically known as Pera). It is one of the last green spaces in Beyoğlu and one of the smallest parks of Istanbul. In May 2013, plans to replace the park with a reconstruction of the former Taksim Military Barracks (demolished in 1940), intended to house a shopping mall, sparked the nationwide 2013 protests in Turkey.
The Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church of Galata (Armenian: Ղալաթայի Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսաւորիչ եկեղեցի, Ghalat’ayi Surp Krikor Lusavorich yegeghetsi; Turkish: Surp Krikor Lusavoriç Ermeni Kilisesi) is the oldest extant Armenian Apostolic church in Istanbul. It was originally built in the late 14th century, in the Genoan period, shortly before the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans. The church was demolished in 1958 and the current building is a reconstruction from the 1960s.

The mosque was inaugurated with a Friday prayer attended by the President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on 28 May 2021.

It faces Eyüp, one of Istanbul's most holy sites, across the water. Immediately north of Sütlüce are Alibeyköy and Kağıthane, once, as the Sweet Waters of Europe, renowned beauty spots on two streams that flowed into the Golden Horn. Immediately to the south is Hasköy.

Taksim is an underground rapid transit complex. It is located in central Beyoğlu under Taksim Square in Istanbul. The complex is serviced by the M2 line of the Istanbul Metro and the Kabataş-Taksim Funicular (F1) line. Taksim was opened on 16 September 2000 as the southern terminus of the M2 until the line was extended to Yenikapı in 2014. On 29 June 2006 the Kabataş-Taksim funicular station was opened, offering shuttle service to Kabataş. Taksim is the busiest station on the M2 Line as well as the Istanbul Metro. Connections to Havabüs express bus service to Sabiha Gökçen Airport are available.
Şişhane is an underground station on the M2 line of the Istanbul Metro. The station is located under Meşrutiyet Street in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. Şişhane has an entrance to Istanbul's famous İstiklâl Caddesi as well as entrances to Kasımpaşa. An out-of-station interchange is available with the historic Tünel funicular line as well as the T2 tram line. Many city buses that run along Tarlabaşı Boulevard are just a few blocks away from Şişhane's Kasımpaşa portal. Şişhane was opened on 31 January 2009 along with Atatürk Oto Sanayi on the northern part of the line. Between 2009-14 trains from Şişhane would operate as a shuttle to Taksim and back. When the M2 was extended south to Yenikapı in 2014, trains operated normally traversing the full line.

Galata is the former name of the Karaköy neighbourhood in Istanbul, which is located at the northern shore of the Golden Horn. The district is connected to the historic Fatih district by several bridges that cross the Golden Horn, most notably the Galata Bridge. The medieval citadel of Galata was a colony of the Republic of Genoa between 1273 and 1453. The famous Galata Tower was built by the Genoese in 1348 at the northernmost and highest point of the citadel. Galata is now a quarter within the district of Beyoğlu in Istanbul.
The Atatürk Cultural Center (Turkish: Atatürk Kültür Merkezi), commonly called the AKM, is a concert hall, theatre and cultural centre running along the eastern side of Taksim Square in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. Originally opened on April 12, 1969, it was closed for renovation works in 2008, but was ultimately demolished in 2018 and rebuilt in 2021 as a state-of-the-art cultural complex. On October 29, 2021, it reopened to the public after a 13-year interval. The new AKM building was designed by Murat Tabanlıoğlu, the son of Hayati Tabanlıoğlu who had designed the original AKM building. Werner Sobek AG was responsible for the facade engineering, creating a transparent facade that opens the building to Taksim Square.

Pamuk said he used YouTube to research Turkish music and film while preparing the novel.

The Jewish Museum of Turkey (officially Quincentennial Foundation Museum of Turkish Jews; Turkish: 500. Yıl Vakfı Türk Musevileri Müzesi) is a Jewish museum and cultural center established by the Quincentennial Foundation to inform the society of the traditions and history of Turkish Jewry. It was inaugurated on November 25, 2001. The Quincentennial Foundation was established in 1989 by 113 Turkish citizens, Jews and Muslims alike, to celebrate the five hundredth anniversary of the arrival of Sephardim to the Ottoman Empire. The idea of a museum was proposed by Naim Güleryüz who is now its curator and the foundation was financed by the prominent Jewish Kamhi family.

Daha sonra betonarme olarak yeniden inşa edilmiş özgün mimarisini yitirmiştir. 18. yüzyılda Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa tarafından yaptırıldı. Tek minarelidir. Dört katlı binanın ilk iki katı cami, diğer iki katı lojman olarak kullanılır. Kültür varlığı olarak tescillidir.

Aynı zamanda lise, İstanbul'un en köklü latin-katolik kurumlarından biridir. Lisede günümüzde 900'ü aşkın öğrenci eğitim görmektedir. Eğitim süresi "Hazırlık Sınıfı" dahil 5 yıldır. Fransızca ve Türkçe eğitim vermektedir. 2. yabancı dil olarak İngilizce eğitimi zorunludur. Türk Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı müfredatına ve kurallarına uyarak, akademik olarak Fransız okullarına denk bir eğitim verir. Lise'nin diploması Fransız Bakaloryasına denktir. Saint Benoît Lisesi 2013 yılında Fransız dilinin ve kültürünün yayılmasını sağlayan yabancı okullara verilen, üstün nitelikli eğitimi ifade eden « FrancEducation » markası ile ödüllendirilmiştir. Sosyal anlamda da başarı sahibi olan Saint Benoit Fransız Lisesi, öğrencilerini eskrim, bale, dans, tiyatro, müzik gibi alanlarda da olanaklar sağlamaktadır.

Odaların bulunduğu katlar bu geniş hantal bloğun ortasından yükselmekte ve 83 metreye ulaşmaktadır. 28 ana katı olan otelin katlarından 5'i bodrum katıdır ve eksi 17 metreye inmektedir. The Marmara Oteli Türkiye'de tamamının topraklanması yapılmış ilk oteldir.

The Kırmızı Minare Mosque (Turkish: Kırmızı Minare Camii; Red Minaret Mosque) is a mosque in the Hasköy neighborhood of Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Turkey. It was probably built in 1591 by Kiremitçi Ahmet Agha and so is also known as the Kiremitçi Ahmet Agha Mosque. It received the name "Red Minaret" because of its red brick minaret. The building was restored in 1889 and 1994.
