Mukurthi National Park is a 78.46 km² (30.29 sq mi) national park in the western Nilgiris mountains of Tamil Nadu in South India. It was created to protect its keystone species, the Nilgiri tahr. It is part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, India's first International Biosphere Reserve. As part of the Western Ghats, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1 July 2012. It is characterised by montane grasslands and shrublands interspersed with sholas, high rainfall, near-freezing temperatures and strong winds. It harbours Bengal tiger and Asian elephant.

Malappuram is situated 47 km southeast of Calicut and 90 km northwest of Palakkad. It is the first Indian municipal body to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity to its entire residents. Malappuram is also the first Indian municipal body to achieve the International Organization for Standardization certificate. It is also the first complaint-free municipality in the state.

The station has three platforms and four tracks. This is an "A" class railway station which earns more than 30 crore per annum. It has now been upgraded to a Model Railway Station (Adarsh). The first railway line in Kerala was commissioned on 12 March 1861 from Beypore to Tirur . The proposed high-speed rail has a stop in Tirur. The new rear entrance and parking area are being set up on the eastern side of the station, opening to Tirur Market.

Melattur is a town in Malappuram district of Kerala. It is situated on the banks of the Velliyar river. The name Melattur came from the Malayalam words 'Mele' (above), 'Aaru' (river) and 'Ooru' (place); i.e., 'place near upstream'. There are places named Edayattur (place near middle of the river), and Keezhattur (place near to the downstream) on the banks of the river Olippuzha. The town is well connected to Perinthalmanna (17 km [11 mi]), Manjeri (23 km [14 mi]), Mannarkkad (24 km [15 mi]), Pandikkad (8 km [5.0 mi]) and Karuvarakundu (11 km [6.8 mi]) by road. Melattur Railway Station is a minor railway station on the Nilambur - Shornur Line.

Wandoor is a town in Nilambur Taluk, Malappuram District, Kerala, India. It is located on the southeast of the Chaliyar River, about 24 kilometres northeast of the district seat Malappuram and 8 km south of the taluk seat Nilambur. In the year 2011, the town has a population of 50,973.
