San Francisco Libre (Spanish pronunciation: [saɱ fɾanˈsisko ˈliβɾe]) is a municipality in the Managua department of Nicaragua.
Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Augusto C. Sandino) (IATA: MGA, ICAO: MNMG), or ACS, is the main joint civil-military public international airport in Managua, Nicaragua. It is named after Nicaraguan revolutionary Augusto Nicolás Sandino (1895–1934) and is located in the city's 6th ward, known locally as Distrito 6. Originally christened Las Mercedes Airport in 1968, it was later renamed Augusto C. Sandino International Airport during the Sandinista government in the 1980s and again in 2001 to Managua International Airport by then-president Arnoldo Alemán. Its name was changed once more in February 2007 to its current name by President Daniel Ortega to honor the revolutionary. Managua also has an alternative landing strip at Punta Huete Airport. Punta Huete was designed for larger aircraft and thus has a longer landing strip (3,000m vs. MGA's 2,442m). This alternative landing site, however, does not service commercial aircraft. The airport is managed by the state-run Administrative Company of International Airports, more commonly known as the EAAI, given its Spanish name, the Empresa Administradora de Aeropuertos Internacionales.

Laguna de Xiloá är 4 km² stor en kratersjö i den sedan länge utslocknade kalderavulkanen Xiloá i Nicaragua. Den ligger bredvid Laguna de Apoyeque på halvön Chiltepe i kommunen Mateare, 5 km nordost om Managua. Sjöns yta ligger cirka 50 meter över havet och cirka 10 meter över den närliggande Managuasjön. Laguna de Xiloá har inget utlopp utan dräneras genom grundvattnet.

It was the largest open-air landfill in Central America, covering 7 km2 in the north-western corner of Managua. It is located on the south shore of Lake Managua, and it is near Acahualinca, home to the famous ancient footprints of Acahualinca. Out of the approximately 1,000 persons who reside at the dump, 50% are children under age 18. These children and families work at La Chureca sorting through the waste. Approximately 400 to 440 families live in La Chureca.

The Neil Armstrong Observatory was completed March 1, 2014, making Nicaragua the only country in Latin America with an astronomical observatory reserved for use by scholars. The observatory, which cost half a million U.S. dollars to build, is located at the Pierre and Marie Curie School in Managua. The building consists of two floors plus a dome of more than 4.5 square meters. The telescope's main lens is 11 inches across and can magnify stellar objects by 50 to 800 times. The first floor is a chemistry lab named for Irene Joliot-Curie. The second floor, dedicated to the study of physics, is named for Isaac Newton. The observatory is named Neil Armstrong in honor of the first man to touch the Moon, during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.
Laguna de Asososca es un área protegida de Nicaragua reconocida como reserva natural ubicada al oeste de la ciudad de Managua, Capital de Nicaragua, a 2.2 km del Lago de Managua o Xolotlán. Sus coordenadas son 12°8'13" latitud Norte y 86°18'55" longitud Oeste. También ha sido declarada "Parque Ecológico Municipal" por el Ministerio del Ambiente y los Recursos Naturales (MARENA) bajo la administración de la Alcaldía de Managua.[1]
Laguna de Nejapa es una laguna de origen volcánico localizada al oeste, en la zona más alta de la ciudad de Managua, Capital de Nicaragua y ocupa una depresión ovalada de 160 metros de hondo, formada por tres colapsos al pie del cerro Motastepe ("cerro de las piñuelas"), que es el fondo del volcán extinto que le dio su nombre, como sus vecinas Tiscapa y Asososca.[1] Sus coordenadas geográficas son 12° 10' 99 latitud norte y 86° 31' 64 longitud oeste, a 51.15 m s. n. m.[2]

The Ancient footprints of Acahualinca (Spanish pronunciation: [akawaˈliŋka]; Spanish: Huellas de Acahualinca) exist in Managua, Nicaragua near the southern shore of Lake Managua. The region was once called "El Cauce". The tracks are fossil Late Holocene human footprints left behind in volcanic ash and mud, which solidified about 2,120±120 years ago, shortly after the group of up to 15 people passed by.
