Lake Managua (Spanish: Lago de Managua, [maˈnaɣwa]), also known as Lake Xolotlán (Lago Xolotlán), is a freshwater lake in Nicaragua. At 1,042 km², it is approximately 65 kilometres (40 mi) long and 25 kilometres (16 mi) wide. Similarly to the name of Lake Nicaragua, its other name comes from the Nahuatl language, possibly from the Spanish Tlaxcaltec and Mexica allies but most likely from the Nicarao tribes that had already settled in the region. The city of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, lies on its southwestern shore.

It also erupted in 1886, 1905, and most recently on 30 November 2015 and 28 February 2016.
Cerro Negro is an active volcano in the Cordillera de los Maribios mountain range in Nicaragua, about 10 km (6.2 mi) from the village of Malpaisillo. It is a very new volcano, the youngest in Central America, having first appeared in April 1850. It consists of a gravelly basaltic cinder cone, which contrasts greatly with the surrounding verdant hillsides, and gives rise to its name, which means Black Hill. Cerro Negro has erupted frequently since its first eruption. One unusual aspect of several eruptions has been the emission of ash from the top of the cone, while lava erupts from fractures at the base.

Volcán Santa Clara está ubicado en el departamento de León, junto al volcán Telica. El volcán Santa Clara tiene una elevación de 844 m, se encuentra inactivo y posee un cono simétrico. Gran parte de su cono se encuentra erosionado y presenta parches de bosques donde se puede encontrar flora y fauna silvestre característica del bosque tropical seco. A este volcán también se le conoce como San Jacinto, por su cercanía al poblado homónimo. Debido a sus características físicas tiende a ser confundido con cerro.

La Parroquia de San Felipe Apóstol es una iglesia ubicada en el barrio homónimo al norte de la ciudad de León. Fue fundada como una ermita para el pueblo de San Felipe de Austria, nombrado en honor del rey de aquel entonces, y destinado para mulatos, negros libres e indios. Fue erigida como parroquia en 1872, siendo su primer párroco el Muy Ilustre Sr. Canónigo Don Gordiano Carranza, que es muy recordado por los pobladores de San Felipe. El edificio actual fue construido por el padre Carranza a mediados del siglo XIX.
La iglesia de La Recolección es una rectoría católica ubicada en el centro histórico de la ciudad de León. Se encuentra en el barrio El Sagrario y es parte del territorio parroquial de la Santa Iglesia Catedral. Fue fundada como el Oratorio de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores por los padres recolectos del Oratorio de San Felipe Neri. La primera piedra se colocó en 1786 y fue consagrada en 1788. Actualmente la regentan los padres paulinos.
