Castlegar is a community in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. In the Selkirk Mountains, at the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers, it is a regional trade and transportation centre, with a local economy based on forestry, mining and tourism.
Hugh Keenleyside Dam (formerly known as the High Arrow Dam) is a flood control dam spanning the Columbia River, 12 km (6.5 miles) upstream of the city of Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada.
Brilliant Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Kootenay River near Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada. It was built during the Second World War, mostly by Doukhobour men exempt from military service, and its 129 MW twin turbines first came into operation in June, 1944. The Columbia Power Corporation purchased the dam from Teck Cominco in 1996.
Kinnaird (Scottish Gaelic: An Ceann Àrd, "high headland") is a neighbourhood comprising the southern part of Castlegar, British Columbia.
El Puente Kinnaird, actualmente de forma oficial Puente de Columbia (nombre original en inglés:Columbia Bridge), conecta una carretera de dos carriles sobre el río Columbia en la localidad de Castlegar (Columbia Británica, Canadá).[2] Pertenece a la Autopista British Columbia 3, que parte de la Autopista Crowsnest, y debe su nombre al pueblo de Kinnaird, que se fusionó en 1974 a Castlegar.[3]
