Assiros (Greek: Άσσηρος, before 1926: Γιουβέσνα - Giouvesna, Macedonian: Гвоздово, romanized: Gvozdovo) is a village and a former municipality in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Lagkadas, of which it is a municipal unit. The 2011 census recorded 2,037 inhabitants in the community of Assiros and 3,290 inhabitants in the municipal unit. The community of Assiros covers an area of 55.369 km2, while the respective municipal unit covers an area of 76.657 km2.

Inhabitants of Aggelochori were relocated to Kalamoto as the new village had access to running water. Kalamoto later gained a power supply in 1970. The inhabitants of Aggelochori mainly descended from Greek refugees from the population exchange with Turkey in 1923 who lived in a village called Aggelochori (modern day Findikli, Gelibolu) on the Gallipoli peninsula.

Lake Koroneia (Greek: Λίμνη Κορώνεια) is a lake in the heart of the Thessaloniki regional unit in the Mygdonian basin in Greece. It is also known as Lake Agios Vasileios after the village Agios Vasileios and as Lake Langadas after the town Langadas, and is located about 14 kilometres east of Thessaloniki city centre. The A2 motorway (Egnatia Odos) passes along the north side of the lake, and the old Greek National Road 2 passes along the south side. The lake is shared by the municipalities Langadas and Volvi.

Lagkadas (Greek: Λαγκαδάς, Lagkadás) is a town and municipality in the northeast part of Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. There are 37,022 residents in the municipality and 8,447 of them live in the community of Lagkadas (2021). Lagkadas is located northeast of Thessaloniki, at a distance of about 20 km from its center and at an altitude of about 130m, in the center of the valley of Mygdonia, through which Alexander the Great passed at his campaigns and also the Apostle Paul towards Thessaloniki and Athens. The climate is continental. Nearby is Lake Koroneia (or Lake Lagkada). The inhabitants of Lagkadas participated in the revolution of 1821, with the most famous fighter being Stavros Tzanis, who took part in many battles in southern Greece. The consequence was the destruction of the town in retaliation. During the Macedonian Struggle, the people of Lagkadas offered a lot, with the main Macedonian warrior, the chief Christos Dremlis.

Ο Δήμος Ασσήρου ήταν δήμος του νομού Θεσσαλονίκης που συστάθηκε με το πρόγραμμα Καποδίστριας από τη συνένωση παλαιότερων κοινοτήτων της περιοχής, που αποτέλεσαν στη συνέχεια τα δημοτικά διαμερίσματα του δήμου. Λειτούργησε την περίοδο 1999 -2010 οπότε και καταργήθηκε με την εφαρμογή του προγράμματος Καλλικράτης και εντάχθηκε στον νέο δήμο Λαγκαδά. Βρισκόταν στο βόρειο τμήμα του νομού. Αποτελούνταν από 2 δημοτικά διαμερίσματα, καταλάμβανε έκταση 89,1 τ.χλμ. και είχε συνολικό πληθυσμό 3861 κατοίκους (σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2001). Έδρα του δήμου ήταν η Άσσηρος.
Ο δήμος Λαγκαδά του προγράμματος Καποδίστριας ήταν δήμος που λειτούργησε την περίοδο 1999-2010. Συστάθηκε με το πρόγραμμα Καποδίστριας από τη συνένωση παλαιότερων κοινοτήτων της περιοχής, που αποτέλεσαν στη συνέχεια τα δημοτικά διαμερίσματα του δήμου. Το 2010 καταργήθηκε και εντάχθηκε στον νέο διευρυμένο δήμο Λαγκαδά. Βρισκόταν στο κεντρικό τμήμα του νομού στην ΒΔ πλευρά της λίμνης Κορώνειας. Έδρα του ήταν ο Λαγκαδάς. Περιλάμβανε την ομώνυμη κωμόπολη και οκτώ χωριά.

Η έκταση του νέου Δήμου Λαγκαδά είναι 1220.3 τ.χλμ και ο μόνιμος πληθυσμός του ανέρχεται σε 37.022 κατοίκους σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2021 από την ΕΛ.ΣΤΑΤ.. Έδρα του νέου δήμου ορίστηκε ο Λαγκαδάς και ιστορική έδρα ο Λαχανάς. Είναι ο δέκατος μεγαλύτερος σε έκταση δήμος της Ελλάδας, με 1.223 τ.χλμ.
