Fundação Fernando Leite Couto, Portuguese for "Foundation Fernando Leite Couto", is a foundation and cultural centre in Mozambique's capital Maputo. It was founded in 2015 and is named after the Portuguese-Mozambican writer Fernando Leite Counto. The foundation has its seat in a building developed by Pancho Guedes at Avenida Kim Il Sung 961 in the Sommerschield neighbourhood.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception (Portuguese language: Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Imaculada Conceição), commonly known as the Maputo Cathedral, is a Catholic cathedral in downtown Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. Situated on the southern shore of Maputo Bay, it faces the historic downtown area across the water and has traditionally served as a strategic gateway between Maputo and the southern coastal region. The district is connected to Ponta do Ouro, the Maputo Special (Elephant) Reserve, and onward to Durban via the Mozambican EN200 and the South African R22 roads. Katembe is noted for its position within the Tembe-Swazi cultural sphere, its beaches, and its role as the southern anchor of the Maputo–Katembe Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in Africa.

Praça da Independência (English: Independence Square) is a public square and focal point of Maputo, Mozambique. It was built by the Portuguese as Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque (Mouzinho de Albuquerque Square) and was dominated by a statue of Mouzinho de Albuquerque, the former governor-general of Portuguese Mozambique. The statue of Mouzinho on horseback was inaugurated in 1940. After the independence of Mozambique in 1975 the square was renamed Praça da Independência, and the statue of Mouzinho de Albuquerque was removed to Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora da Conceição and replaced by a statue of Samora Machel (1933-1986), the first president of Mozambique. The square is now dominated by the much larger Samora Machel Statue, which was built and dedicated in 2011.

Es ist von den Anfängen durch die Einflüsse der frühen Moderne geprägt. Das zwölfstöckige Gebäude ist durch seine Lage auf dem Hang von Maxaquene auch weithin sichtbar.

Der portugiesische Architekt Pancho Guedes schuf das dank seiner großen drei Schornsteine markante Haus laut einer Quelle um 1965, wobei dies fraglich ist.
