Trout Pond — formerly called Old Pond — located near Wardensville in Hardy County, West Virginia, USA, is the state's only natural lake. The small "lake" is situated in the Trout Pond Recreation Area (TPRA) of the George Washington National Forest. Formerly, the pond had fluctuated in surface area between 2 and 3 acres, but recently it has appeared to be disappearing due to underground structural changes.

Elk Pond Mountain is a peak of the Blue Ridge Mountains, on the border of Nelson and Rockbridge counties in Virginia. Elk Pond Mountain is flanked to the east by Maintop Mountain, and to the southwest by Rocky Mountain.
Elliott Knob is one of the highest mountains in the northern portions of the U.S. state of Virginia. At 4,463 ft (1,360 m), the peak is located on the ridge known as Great North Mountain. A subpeak known simply as "Hogback" (4,447 ft (1,355 m)) is located 0.5 mi (0.80 km) to the southwest. A small, naturally growing stand of red spruce trees is on the summit, and the upper slopes also have yellow birch and sugar maple, indicating that the altitude is just high enough to support tree species normally found hundreds of miles to the north. Otherwise oak and hickory trees are the most common types found on the mountain. The mountain is entirely within George Washington and Jefferson National Forests.

It creates Lake Moomaw, which has a normal volume of 40 billion US gallons (150,000,000 m3). The dam serves flood control and recreational purposes and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Humpback Covered Bridge located in the U.S. state of Virginia, is one of the few remaining covered bridges in the United States that was built higher in the middle than on either end; hence the name of "humpback". The bridge spans a tributary of the Jackson River known as Dunlap Creek, for a distance of 109 feet (33 m). The humpback feature is 4 feet (1.2 m) higher in the center than at either end. Humpback Rocks is a massive greenstone outcropping near the peak of Humpback Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Augusta County and Nelson County, Virginia, United States, with a summit elevation of 3,080 feet (940 m). The rock formation is so named for the visual effect of a "hump" it creates on the western face of the mountain.

The Brill Octagon House is a historic octagon house at Capon Springs and McIlwee Roads in Capon Springs, West Virginia. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, that is actually cruciform in shape, but is given an octagonal appearance by the presence of two-story triangular porches that join the corners of the cross. The house was built about 1890 by one of a father-son pair, both named Elias Brill. The elder Brill, a more likely candidate as its builder, was a farm laborer, and was according to family lore guided in the building's design by an architect who was a summer guest at the Capon Springs Resort. The design is apparently a throwback to the briefly popular octagon house movement led by Orson Squire Fowler in the 1850s.

The district encompasses 16 contributing buildings, 10 contributing sites, and 4 contributing structures dating primarily to the 1850s, and associated with the operations of the Rockbridge Alum Springs, a popular 19th- and early-20th century mountain resort. The buildings are the barroom, store/post office, Montgomery Hall, the Gothic Building, the Alum Springs Pavilion, two cottages of Baltimore Row, the Ladies Hotel, four cottages of Kentucky Row, Jordan's House, a servant's quarters, a slave quarters, and a storehouse. The remaining structures are a well, the stone spring chambers, gazebo, and the Jordan Alum Springs bandstand. The sites are primarily those of demolished cottages. It is one of the best-preserved antebellum springs resort complexes in Virginia. The resort remained in operation until 1941. It is currently owned and operated by Young Life, a non-denominational Christian youth organization. It has been operated as a year-round campground since 1992.

Rough Mountain Wilderness is a U.S. Wilderness Area in the Warm Springs Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. The wilderness area is located on Rough Mountain and consists of 9,300 acres (38 km2). Rough Mountain Wilderness ranges in elevation from 1,150 feet (351 m) to 2,842 feet (866 m) at Griffin Knob. The area has only one established hiking trail within its boundaries, and is characterized by steep slopes heading up to the ridgeline of Rough Mountain.
Callie Furnace is a historic iron furnace located near Glen Wilton, Botetourt County, Virginia. It was built as a hot-blast charcoal furnace around 1873–1874, and subsequently enlarged and converted into a coke furnace. In 1883, the stack was raised an additional five feet, and a tuyere was added. Callie Furnace went out of blast in 1884.

Casey Field & Boodie Albert Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Covington, Virginia. Games were first played there in 1962 and it is primarily the home of the Covington Lumberjacks of the Valley Baseball League.
