Regional Unit of Magnesia

Promyri (Greek: Προμύρι) is a village in Magnesia, Greece. The stone-built village of Promyri clings to the steep hillsides of a long valley reaching the sea at Katigiorgis. The main road bypasses the village so it is quiet and free from traffic. The narrow streets are made of cobblestone and are surrounded by trees providing shade from the sun. The island of Skiathos can be seen from the centre of the village. The old houses are built from stone and date from the late 19th century. Others were built at the turn of the 20th century in a neoclassical style and are linked by stone footpaths between gardens filled with flowers. Promyri has traditional grocery shops, a bakery with wood fired ovens and butchers. There is now a modern supermarket and the main square is shaded by a vast plane tree flanked by a couple of tavernas. At one time, the village had many silk weavers but as the trade diminished, this was replaced by agriculture.

Velestino railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Βελεστίνου, romanized: Sidirodromikos Stathmos Velestino) is a railway station in Velestino in Thessaly, Greece. It is located outside the settlement. The station lies 17 kilometres (11 mi) west of Volos and 40 kilometres (25 mi) southeast of Larissa. The station is situated at a junction Volos–Kalambaka and Volos–Larissa lines. The station is close to the E06 Motorway.

Stefanovikeio railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Στεφανοβικείου, romanized: Sidirodromikos Stathmos Stefanovikeiou) is a railway station in Stefanovikeio, Thessaly, Greece. It is located outside the settlement, close to a level crossing. Opened on 22 April 1884 by the Thessaly Railways (now part of OSE). Today Hellenic Train operates fourteen daily local trains to Larissa and Volos.

Ο Άγιος Γεώργιος Φερών είναι ένα χωριό το οποίο ανήκει στον Δήμο Φερών ( Μαγνησίας). Σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2021 ο Άγιος Γεώργιος Φερών έχει 535 κατοίκους οι οποίοι ασχολούνται με τη γεωργία, την κτηνοτροφία και ένας  μεγάλος αριθμός αυτών απασχολείται στο Δημόσιο και τον ευρύτερο  ιδιωτικό τομέα επιχειρήσεων. Στην περιοχή βρίσκεται η Β΄ Βιομηχανική Περιοχή και το στρατιωτικό εργοστάσιο αρμάτων 304. Το χωριό βρίσκεται κοντά στην Εθνική Οδό Θεσσαλονίκης - Λαμίας στο ύψος της εξόδου για Βόλο στον κόμβο Βελεστίνου και βρίσκεται σε υψόμετρο 113 μέτρων από την επιφάνεια της Θάλασσας.

Τα Γλαφυρά είναι ημιορεινό χωριό του Νομού Μαγνησίας με πληθυσμό 237 κατοίκους, σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2011. Το όνομα προέρχεται από την αρχαία πόλη Γλαφύραι, ενώ μέχρι το 1927 το χωριό ονομαζόταν Κάπουρνα (από τον βυζαντινό οικισμό Καπούρνα ή Κάπραινα), ονομασία που χρησιμοποιείται ακόμα. Είναι κτισμένο σε μεσοσταθμικό υψόμετρο 370 μέτρα πάνω από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας, σε οδική απόσταση 13 χιλιομέτρων (χλμ.) από τον Βόλο, στα βορειοδυτικά της πόλεως. Επίσης, απέχει 4,5 χλμ. σε ευθεία γραμμή από την όχθη της Λίμνης Κάρλας. Οι γεωγραφικές συντεταγμένες των Γλαφυρών είναι πλάτος 39°26΄ Βόρειο και μήκος 22°53΄ Ανατολικό.

Mouresi (Grieks: Μουρέσι) is een deelgemeente van de Griekse fusiegemeente Zagora-Mouresi in de bestuurlijke regio (periferia) Thessalië. De gemeente telt 2690 inwoners. De hoofdplaats van de voormalige gemeente was Tsagkarada.

The Decentralized Administration of Thessaly and Central Greece (Greek: Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση Θεσσαλίας – Στερεάς Ελλάδας) is one of the seven decentralized administrations of Greece, consisting of the peripheries of Thessaly and Central Greece. Seated in Larissa, Thessaly, it is currently led by Acting Secretary-General Ilias Tseligas.

Almyros or Halmyros (Greek: Αλμυρός, romanized: Almyrós, lit. 'salty') is a town and a municipality of the regional unit of Magnesia, region of Thessaly, Greece. It lies in the center of prosperous fertile plain known as 'Krokio Pedio', which is crossed by torrents. Almyros is an important agricultural and commercial center of Magnesia, and is also developing as a tourist center for the area. The main agricultural products are tomatoes, cotton, wheat, almonds, peanuts and pistachio nuts.

Anavra (Greek: Ανάβρα) is a village and a former community in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it has been part of the municipality Almyros, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 121.859 km². According to the census of 2021, the population of Anavra was 405 citizens. The village of Anavra is located on the west side of Mount Othrys, at a height of 900 metres (3,000 ft) above sea level, 72 kilometres (45 mi) from Magnesia's administrative center of Volos and close to the border of Phthiotis. The Enipeas river, which is a tributary of the Pineios, starts at the springs of Anavra and passes through the village for two kilometres.

Efxeinoupoli (Greek: Ευξεινούπολη) is a small town in the Municipality of Almyros, Magnesia regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. Efxeinoupoli counts 2,078 residents (2021).

The Archaeological Museum of Almyros is a museum in Almyros, Greece. It was built by and belonged to, until the 1950s, by the Othrys, Filarchaeos Etaireia Almyrou, a non-profit local organization found in the beginning of 20th century. Now it belongs to the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

Οι λίμνες Ζερέλια ή Ζηρέλια είναι δύο λίμνες κυκλικού σχήματος, που βρίσκονται 4 χιλιόμετρα νοτιοδυτικά της πόλης του Αλμυρού και 2,5 χλμ από το Δ.Δ. Ευξεινούπολης, σε υψόμετρο 130 μέτρων από τη θάλασσα, στους βόρειους πρόποδες της Όθρυος. Ανατολικά της μεγάλης λίμνης υπάρχει μικρός γήλοφος (μαγούλα). Εκεί έχει εντοπιστεί προϊστορικός οικισμός ο οποίος κατοικήθηκε για πρώτη φορά κατά τις αρχές της της Μέσης Νεολιθικής (5.800-5.300 π.Χ.) και συνέχισε να κατοικείται κατά την Εποχή του Χαλκού και τα ιστορικά χρόνια.

Ο Δήμος Αλμυρού είναι Δήμος της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Μαγνησίας, στην Περιφέρεια Θεσσαλίας, με έδρα τον Αλμυρό. Η έκταση του Δήμου είναι 909.79 τ.χλμ. και ο πληθυσμός του 18.557 κάτοικοι, σύμφωνα με την Απογραφή του 2011.

Nea Anchialos National Airport (Greek: Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Νέας Αγχιάλου) (IATA: VOL, ICAO: LGBL) is an airport located near the town of Nea Anchialos in Greece. It serves the regional unit of Magnesia and is also known as Central Greece Airport.

Argyronisos (Greek: Αργυρόνησος - "silver island") is a privately owned island in the Aegean Sea. The island lies between Kanatadika on Euboea and the mainland near Achilleio, Magnesia. Administratively, it is part of the municipality Almyros. It is 240,000 metres large. The most prominent landmark on the island is the lighthouse built in 1899.

The Panthessaliko Stadium is a stadium located in Volos, Greece. The stadium was the site of football (soccer) matches during the 2004 Summer Olympics. It was officially opened on July 30, 2004 and has a capacity of 22,189 seats, though only 21,100 seats were made publicly available for the Olympic matches. The Panthessaliko Stadium is the home stadium of the Volos N.F.C. which plays in the Super League Greece. It also hosted the 2017 Greek Football Cup Final, where PAOK defeated AEK 2–1. It hosted the 2020 Greek Football Cup Final between AEK and Olympiacos. In 2022, it hosted a pair of matches of the Greece national football team both won by Greece.

The Pagasetic Gulf (Greek: Παγασητικός Κόλπος, romanized: Pagasitikós Kólpos) is a rounded gulf (max. depth 102 metres) in the Magnesia regional unit (east central Greece) that is formed by the Mount Pelion peninsula. It is connected with the Euboic Sea. The passage into the Euboic Sea is narrow and is about 4 km.

The University of Thessaly (UTH; Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας) is a public university in Thessaly, Greece, founded in 1984. The university includes the main campus in the city of Volos and regional campuses located in Karditsa, Larissa, Trikala, and the city of Lamia. The university's central administrative and academic building, located on the seaport seafront, it is often referred to as the main campus, but actually the university does not have a single main site, as it has multi sites with buildings being geographically distributed within the wider region of Volos across the city districts. Enrollment for Fall 2014 consisted of 14,000 undergraduates students, 2,150 master's degree-level students, 1,400 doctoral students, and 710 faculty members.

Paleo Trikeri (Greek: Παλαιό Τρίκερι) or Old Trikeri, also known as Trikeri Island, is a small island in the Pagasitic Gulf off the end of the Pelion peninsula in Thessaly, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Trikeri within the municipality of South Pelion. In the 2001 census it was reported to have a population of 87, but the year-round population has been estimated at 15. The island has an area of about 4.5 square kilometres (1.7 sq mi) There are no cars or roads on the island. In antiquity, the island was called Cicynethus (Ancient Greek: Κικύνηθος, romanized: Kikynethos). Ancient Kikynethos formed as polis (city-state) of Magnesia, ancient Thessaly.

Portaria (Greek: Πορταριά) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 22.754 km². It is located on Mt. Pelion, facing the Pagasetic Gulf, north of Volos and its suburbs. The majority of the buildings are typical examples of Pelion architecture with their windows and doors decorated with a variety of colors. The mountaintop of Pelion is to the north. Portaria every year holds a traditional wedding in the main square of the village and many people from Volos and the surrounding villages drop by to learn how weddings were traditionally done in these villages.

Pteleos (Greek: Πτελεός) is a village and a former municipality in the southern part of Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it has been part of the municipality of Almyros, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 118.230 km², and a population of 1,990 in 2021.

Nea Ionia (Greek: Νέα Ιωνία, meaning New Ionia) is a city and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. It borders the city of Volos. The population at the 2021 census was 31,884 inhabitants. Its land area is 63.314 km². The name "New Ionia" refers to refugees from western Anatolia that settled in the area after the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922).

Makrinitsa (Greek: Μακρινίτσα), nicknamed "balcony of Mt. Pelion," is a village and a former community in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 59.903 km².

Trikeri (Greek: Τρίκερι, Tríkeri) is a town and a former community in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is a municipal unit. It lies at the westernmost point of the hook-like Pelion Peninsula on the Pagasetic Gulf. It also includes the offshore islands of Palaio Trikeri and Alatas. The municipal unit has a total population of 992 inhabitants (2021 census), and a land area of 26.817 square kilometres (10.354 sq mi). Its largest settlements are the towns of Trikeri and Agia Kyriaki (Greek: Αγία Κυριακή), both on the mainland.

Agios Georgios Nileias (Greek: Άγιος Γεώργιος Νηλείας) is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Milies, Magnesia, Greece. It is situated on the slopes of mount Pelion, at about 700 m elevation. Agios Georgios Nileias is 1.5 km east of Agios Vlasios, 3 km northwest of Pinakates, 6 km northwest of Milies and 13 km east of Volos. Agios Georgios Nileias has a municipal museum with works of the sculptor Nikolaos Pavlopoulos.

Volos Municipal Stadium is a sports stadium in Volos, Greece used for football matches. This stadium was built in 1962 and it was renovated in 2004 since it was one of the Olympic training venues of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. It has a capacity of 9,000 people and it is the homeground of the local football club Olympiacos Volos. Record attendance is 17.200 spectators but this was before plastic seats were placed. The complete reconstruction of this stadium was planned to begin at summer 2014. However, due to economic problems of the club the reconstruction never started but some improvements have already been made.

Ano Lechonia (Greek: Άνω Λεχώνια) is a town and community in the Magnesia regional unit, Greece. Ano Lechonia was the seat of the former municipality of Artemida. The community includes the coastal village Platinidia. Ano Lechonia is situated in the northwestern part of the Pelion peninsula, 1.5 km from the Pagasetic Gulf coast, 3 km southwest of Agios Georgios Nileias, 4 km southeast of Agria and 11 km (7 mi) southeast of Volos.

Η Ανακασιά είναι χωριό και έδρα ομώνυμης τοπικής κοινότητας, της δημοτικής ενότητας (τέως δήμου) Ιωλκού, του δήμου Βόλου, της περιφερειακής ενότητας (τέως νομού) Μαγνησίας, στην περιφέρεια Θεσσαλίας, σύμφωνα με το πρόγραμμα Καλλικράτης. Πριν το σχέδιο Καποδίστριας και το πρόγραμμα Καλλικράτης, ανήκε στην επαρχία Βόλου του νομού Μαγνησίας, στο γεωγραφικό διαμέρισμα Θεσσαλίας.

Sipiada (Greek: Σηπιάδα) is a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece, named after the ancient city of "Sepias" or "Sipiada". Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 122.404 km². Population 1,687 (2021). The seat of the municipality was in Lafkos.

Sourpi (Greek: Σούρπη) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. It is predominantly populated by Aromanians (Vlachs). Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Almyros, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 191.335 km². Population 2,485 (2021).

Agios Dimitrios Piliou (Greek: Άγιος Δημήτριος Πηλίου) is a village and a community in the municipality of Zagora-Mouresi, in the eastern part of Magnesia, Greece. The community includes the village of Agios Ioannis.

Agios Vlasios (Greek: Άγιος Βλάσιος meaning Saint Blaise, before 1927: Καραμπάσι - Karampasi, Turkish: Karabaş "black head") is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Artemida, Magnesia, Greece. Agios Vlasios is situated on the slopes of mount Pelion, 1.5 km west of Agios Georgios Nileias, 2 km northeast of Ano Lechonia and 11 km east of Volos. The name comes from the church of the village.

Amaliapoli (Greek: Αμαλιάπολη) is a village at the western part of the Pagasetic Gulf, in the Magnesia regional unit of Greece, also known as Nea Mintzela. It was the northernmost border village of the newly independent Greek state, and was named after Queen Amalia, the first queen of the modern Greek state, in the 1840s. Amaliapoli was the place of origin of the Kalamidas family, a family which played a notable role in the region of Mintzela during the Greek Revolution against the Turks 1821.

Anilio (Greek: Ανήλιο, literally "without sun") is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Mouresi in the eastern part of Magnesia, Greece. It is situated at 296 meters elevation on the forested eastern slope of the Pelion mountains, 2 km from the Aegean Sea coast. The community includes the village Plaka. Anilio is 1.5 km northwest of Agios Dimitrios, 1.5 km southeast of Makryrrachi, 4 km southeast of Zagora and about 18 km east of the city of Volos (Magnesia's capital).

Chorto (Greek: Χόρτο) is a seaside village is the municipal unit of Argalasti in Magnesia, Greece. Chorto is located by the Pagasetic Gulf, 4 km south of Argalasti.

Kanalia (Greek: Κανάλια) is a village and community in Thessaly, Greece, part of the municipality Rigas Feraios. It is located 26 kilometres (16 mi) from Volos and at a height of 80 metres (260 ft) above the sea level. It is one of the prettiest on the north-west side of Pelion. It is built on the foundation of the Acropolis of Boebe (Greek: Βοίβη Voivi) in the plains of Metochi. On the hill above the village one can see the remains of the walls of ancient Boebe, as well as the ruins of three forts that protected the road. Between 1883 and 1912, Kanalia was the seat of the municipality Voivi, which also included the villages Kapourna and Kerasia. The church of Saint Nicolas (11th century), can be found in the area. Visitors to the area enjoy the plethora of almond trees when they are in blossom, they can even attend the celebration of the Blossoming Almond trees.

Kissos (Greek: Κισσός) is a mountain village in the municipal unit of Mouresi, in the eastern part of Magnesia, Greece. It sits on the eastern slopes of the forested Pelion mountains, at about 500 meters elevation, 3 km from the Aegean Sea to the northeast. It is located 3 km west of Mouresi, 5 km southeast of Zagora and 17 km east of the city of Volos (Magnesia's capital).

Lake Karla (Greek: Λίμνη Κάρλα) is a lake that sits at 60 to 80 m (200 to 260 ft) above sea level making it the only one in the plain of Thessaly. The lake is located at the northern end of the Magnesia regional unit in the Pineios basin, adjacent to Pelion and the Maurovouni mountains. On the eastern part of the lake lies the town of Kanalia.

Lefokastro (Greek: Λεφόκαστρον) is a fishing village on the Pagasetic Gulf, 8 kilometres (5 mi) from Argalasti and 34 kilometres (21 mi) from Volos. Lefokastro is part of the community and the municipal unit of Argalasti in Magnesia, Greece.

Stefanovikeio (Greek: Στεφανοβίκειο) is a small town in Thessaly, Greece. It is part of the Rigas Feraios municipality, and the municipal unit Karla.

Velestino (Greek: Βελεστίνο; Aromanian: Velescir) is a town in the Magnesia regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. It is the seat of the municipality Rigas Feraios.

Xinovrysi (Greek: Ξινόβρυση, before 1927: Μπεστίνικα - Bestinika) is a village in the Pelion area in Magnesia, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Argalasti. Xinovrysi is 3.5 km northeast of Argalasti, 7 km north of Promyri and 30 km southeast of Volos. The community includes the village Potistika.

Xorychti (Greek: Ξορύχτι) a village and a community in the municipal unit of Mouresi in the eastern part of Magnesia, Greece. It is situated at 420 m elevation, on the eastern slope of the forested Pelion mountains. The community includes the village Kato Xorychti. Xorychti is located 2 km northwest of Lampinou, 3 km south of Tsagkarada, 5 km northeast of Milies, 12 km southeast of Zagora and 21 km east of the city of Volos (Magnesia's capital).

Karla (Greek: Κάρλα) is a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Rigas Feraios, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 223.591 km². The population of the municipal unit is 3,766 (2021). It is an agricultural area producing cereals, cotton and vegetables (28 kilometres away from Volos). The capital of the municipality was Stefanovikeio. The municipality was named after Lake Karla although in the antiquity was known as Voivis. This shows that it was dedicated to the sun and the goddess of light Phoebe who was Leto's mother. Leto was the mother of Apollo who also had the name Phoebus which means the sun.

Το Αεροδρόμιο Στεφανοβικείου (συντομογραφία ICAO: LGSV) είναι στρατιωτικό αεροδρόμιο που βρίσκεται πλησίον του χωριού Στεφανοβίκειο, του νομού Μαγνησίας. Απέχει 20 χιλιόμετρα από τη πόλη του Βόλου.

Ο Άγιος Λαυρέντιος είναι χωριό της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Μαγνησίας. Βρίσκεται κτισμένος στις νότιες πλαγιές του Πηλίου σε υψόμετρο 545 μέτρα και σε απόσταση 19 χλμ. ανατολικά από τον Βόλο, ανάμεσα στα χωριά Δράκεια (ΒΔ.) και Άγιος Γεώργιος Νηλείας (ΝΑ.). Κοντά στο χωριό ρέει ο χείμαρρος Βρύχωνας.

Ο Δήμος Πτελεού λειτούργησε σύμφωνα με το Σχέδιο Καποδίστριας ως δήμος του νομού Μαγνησίας από το 1999 έως το 2010 με έδρα τη Πτελεό, μετά την κατάργηση της Κοινότητας Πτελεού Νομού Μαγνησίας (1942-1997).

Η Δημητριάδα είναι παραθαλάσσιος οικισμός της Θεσσαλίας στην Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Μαγνησίας.

Η Κερασιά είναι χωριό της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Μαγνησίας. Βρίσκεται κτισμένη στις δυτικές πλαγιές του βορείου Πηλίου, σε υψόμετρο 118 μέτρων και ανήκει διοικητικά στον Δήμο Ρήγα Φεραίου. Αναφέρεται συχνά λόγω της φυσικής της θέσης, ως Κερασιά Πηλίου (η Άνω Κερασιά είναι το ψηλότερο χωριό του Πηλίου, με 700 μέτρα υψόμετρο), ή λόγω της πρώην Επαρχίας στην οποία ανήκε, ως Κερασία Βόλου. Σήμερα αποτελεί Κοινότητα του Δήμου Ρήγα Φεραίου και ο οικισμός Κερασιά, έχει 291 κατοίκους, σύμφωνα με την Απογραφή του 2011.

Το Περίβλεπτο είναι οικισμός της Θεσσαλίας στην Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Μαγνησίας.

Pteleum or Pteleon (Ancient Greek: Πτελεόν), also Pteleos (Πτελεός), was a town of ancient Thessaly, on the south-western side of Phthiotis, and near the entrance of the Sinus Pagasaeus. It stood between Antron and Halos, and was distant from the latter 110 stadia, according to Artemidorus. It is mentioned by Homer in the Catalogue of Ships in the Iliad as governed by Protesilaus, to whom the neighbouring town of Antron also belonged.

Τα Χάνια Πηλίου είναι ορεινός οικισμός του νομού Μαγνησίας. Είναι χτισμένα σε υψόμετρο 1.190 μέτρων στις πλαγιές του Πηλίου και αποτελούν τον ορεινότερο οικισμό του νομού. Βρίσκονται πάνω στον επαρχιακό δρόμο Βόλου-Ζαγοράς, σε απόσταση 26 χιλιομέτρων από τον Βόλο. Το χωριό πήρε το όνομά του από τα παλιά χάνια, στα οποία φιλοξενούνταν όσοι ταξίδευαν στην περιοχή.

Το Χιονοδρομικό Κέντρο Πηλίου Αγριόλευκες είναι χιονοδρομικό κέντρο του Νομού Μαγνησίας στο όρος Πήλιο.

Το Χορευτό είναι παραθαλάσσιος οικισμός του δήμου Ζαγοράς - Μουρεσίου του νομού Μαγνησίας. Βρίσκεται στην ανατολική πλευρά του Πηλίου και αποτελεί επίνειο της Ζαγοράς. Σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2011 ο πληθυσμός του Χορευτού ανέρχεται στους 131 μόνιμους κατοίκους.

Το Αερινό είναι χωριό του Νομού Μαγνησίας, σε υψόμετρο 180μ., 6χλμ από το Βελεστίνο και 25χλμ από το Βόλο. Είναι έδρα ομώνυμης τοπικής κοινότητας του Δήμου Ρήγα Φεραίου και κατά την απογραφή του 2011 είχε 500 μόνιμους κατοίκους. Το χωριό είναι χτισμένο σε χαμηλό οροπέδιο, πλησίον της Εθνικής οδού Αθηνών-Θεσ/νίκης (κόμβος στο 303 χλμ.) και πλεονεκτεί στον τομέα των οδικών συγκοινωνιών, ενώ έχει απολέσει το πλεονέκτημα της σιδηροδρομικής σύνδεσής του, λόγω της κατάργησης της γραμμής Βόλου-Φαρσάλων. Το χειμώνα το κρύο είναι τσουχτερό και η ομίχλη πολύ συχνό φαινόμενο. Το καλοκαίρι η ζέστη μετριάζεται από δροσερά ρεύματα αέρα (εξ' ου και το όνομα του χωριού, που αποτελεί νεότερη ονομασία από τα τέλη του 19ου αι, ενώ η παλαιότερη ονομασία του ήταν Περσουφλί ή Περτσοφλί).Το χωριό είναι χτισμένο κατά μήκος της σιδηροδρομικής γραμμής Βόλου-Καλαμπάκας, με νότιο προσανατολισμό και αποτελείται από δύο μεγάλους συνοικισμούς : τον προσφυγικό οικισμό (μετά το 1922) στα ανατολικά του Ι. Ναού του Αγίου Αποστόλου Θωμά και τον προϋπάρχοντα οικισμό (των "ντόπιων") στα βορειοδυτικά του Ναού. Στο χωριό λειτουργεί Δημοτικό Σχολείο και Νηπιαγωγείο. Το χωριό εκπροσωπεί στα τοπικά πρωταθλήματα η ομάδα ποδοσφαίρου "ΔΟΞΑ" ήδη από τη δεκαετία του '60. Οι κάτοικοι ασχολούνται με την αγροτική οικονομία, ενώ η γειτνίαση με το αστικό κέντρο του Βόλου διευκολύνει την επαγγελματική ενασχόληση των κατοίκων με εμπορικές και άλλες δραστηριότητες.

Τα Πλατανίδια είναι παραθαλάσσιος οικισμός - επίνειο των Άνω Λεχωνίων του Δήμου Βόλου στην Περιφερειακή Ενότητας Μαγνησίας ενώ απέχει 1 χιλιόμετρο περίπου νότια από τα Άνω Λεχώνιακαι και 14 χλμ. νοτιοανατολικά από τον Βόλο. Χαρακτηρίζεται "Σκάλα" (παράλιος εμπορικός σταθμός) από τα παλιά χρόνια, με ευρήματα αρχαία και παλαιοχριστιανικά και αναφέρεται ως Skala Liconia στα χρόνια του μεσαίωνα, όταν την περιοχή κατοικούσαν οι τοπάρχες Μελισσηνοί. Το ονομά τους οφείλεται στα πολλά πλατάνια που είχε η περιοχή και αποτελεί παραθεριστικός οικισμός με μεγάλη οικιστική ανάπτυξη. Στα Πλατανίδια υπάρχουν ψαροταβερνες, καφέ, ξενώνες και ενοικιαζόμενα δωμάτια. Συνδέεται με το Βόλο με τη γραμμή Νο 5 της αστικής συγκοινωνίας. Αναφέρεται ως Πλατανίδι το 1908 στο ΦΕΚ 28Α - 08/02/1908 να προσαρτάται στον τότε δήμο Νηλείας. Σύμφωνα με το πρόγραμμα Καλλικράτης μαζί με τα Άνω Λεχώνια αποτελούν την κοινότητα Άνω Λεχωνίων που που υπάγεται στη Δημοτική Ενότητα Αρτέμιδας του Δήμου Βόλου ενώ σύμφωνα με την απογραφή 2011 απογράφησαν 361 κάτοικοι.

Η Ιερά Μονή Μεταμορφώσεως του Σωτήρος Φλαμουρίου (ή Μονή Φλαμουρίου) είναι μοναστήρι που βρίσκεται στο Πήλιο.

Το Μουσείο Πλινθοκεραμοποιίας Ν. & Σ. Τσαλαπάτα στο Βόλο, αποτελεί σπάνιο δείγμα διασωζόμενου βιομηχανικού συγκροτήματος στον ελληνικό χώρο. Ανήκει στο Δίκτυο Θεματικών Τεχνολογικών Μουσείων του Πολιτιστικού Ιδρύματος Ομίλου Πειραιώς (ΠΙΟΠ). To μουσείο στοχεύει στην ανάδειξη της ιστορικής ταυτότητας της πόλης του Βόλου και αποτελεί έναν ισχυρό μουσειακό πόλο. Συμβάλλει στην ενίσχυση του πολιτισμικού αποθέματος της περιφέρειας Θεσσαλίας, στη διάσωση και προβολή της βιομηχανικής κληρονομιάς καθώς και στην ανάπτυξη του πολιτιστικού τουρισμού στην ευρύτερη περιοχή της Μαγνησίας.

Amphanae or Amphanai (Ancient Greek: Ἀμφαναί, Ἀμφαναία or Ἀμφαναῖον) was the southernmost city on the east coast of the district of Pelasgiotis, Ancient Thessaly, near the border between the Pelasgiotis and Achaea Phthiotis forming promontory Pyrrha. Its location is doubtful, and several locations have been proposed, including Soros in the municipality of Volos, Damari, Paleo Alikes in the municipality of Volos, and the palaiokastro (old fort) of Sesklou. The identification with Soros is accepted by the editors of the Realencyclopädie der classischen Altertumswissenschaft, and tentatively accepted by the editors of the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World. However, the most recent excavations seem to indicate that Soros is more likely to be identified with Pagasas.

Agios Ioannis (Greek: Άγιος Ιωάννης Πηλίου) is a village and a beach resort on the east coast of Pelion in Magnesia, Greece. It forms part of the community of Agios Dimitrios Piliou in the municipality of Zagora-Mouresi.

Ο Δήμος Βόλου είναι Δήμος της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Μαγνησίας, στην Περιφέρεια Θεσσαλίας, με έδρα τον Βόλο. Η έκταση του Δήμου είναι 387,14 τ.χλμ. και ο πληθυσμός του σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2021, είναι 139.670 κάτοικοι. Η σημερινή μορφή του Δήμου, δημιουργήθηκε το 2010 με το Πρόγραμμα «Καλλικράτης», από την προσάρτηση στο Δήμο Βόλου, των προϋπαρχόντων Δήμων και Κοινοτήτων, Δήμος Νέας Αγχιάλου, Δήμος Ιωλκού, Δήμος Πορταριάς, Δήμος Αγριάς, Δήμος Αρτέμιδας, Δήμος Αισωνίας, Δήμος Νέας Ιωνίας και Κοινότητα Μακρινίτσας.

Το Πηγάδι είναι παραθαλάσσιος οικισμός στη Θεσσαλία και την Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Μαγνησίας, ο οποίος βρίσκεται στα παράλια του όρμου Πτελεού, σε απόσταση 5 χλμ. νοτιοανατολικά από αυτόν και αποτελεί το επίνειό του, αλλά και τουριστικό προορισμό της περιοχής. Στο χωριό υπάρχουν ξενοδοχεία, ενοικιαζόμενα δωμάτια, κέντρα εστίασης αλλά και διασκέδασης (bar και disco). Το γραφικό λιμανάκι του οικισμού, τα ψαροκάικα και οι γραφικές ταβερνούλες είναι πόλος έλξης για τους επισκέπτες. Αναφέρεται επίσημα ως ξεχωριστός οικισμός για πρώτη φορά το 1951 να απογράφεται στην κοινότητα Πτελεού, στην οποία, σύμφωνα με το πρόγραμμα Καλλικράτης, ανήκει ενώ υπάγεται στη Δημοτική Ενότητα Πτελεού του Δήμου Αλμυρού και σύμφωνα με την απογραφή 2011 απογράφησαν 99 κάτοικοι.

Η Κίκινθος ή Άγιος Νικόλαος είναι ακατοίκητη νησίδα του Παγασητικού κόλπου στην Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Μαγνησίας.

Το Πουρί είναι χωριό του νομού Μαγνησίας, σε απόσταση περίπου 6 χλμ βόρεια από τη Ζαγορά. Βρίσκεται σε υψόμετρο 400 μέτρων, στις ανατολικές πλαγιές του Πηλίου, με όψη προς Αιγαίο Πέλαγος. Έχει 538 μόνιμους κατοίκους (απογραφή 2011). Στην απογραφή του 1951 είχε 641 κ. και του 1961 είχε 469 κατοίκους. Στη Μεγάλη Ελληνική Εγκυκλοπαίδεια (δεκαετία 1930) αναφέρεται ότι το 1928 είχε 639 κατοίκους, και μαζί με τους οικισμούς Κοκκινότα, Παλαιά Μιτζέλα και Σχιζόπετρα είχε 677 κατοίκους. Επίσης είχε ταχυδρομικό γραφείο και δημοτικό σχολείο.

Ο Δήμος Μηλεών λειτούργησε σύμφωνα με το Σχέδιο Καποδίστριας ως δήμος του νομού Μαγνησίας από το 1999 έως το 2010 με έδρα τις Μηλιές.

Η Μονή Παναγίας ή Μονή Παναγίας Ευαγγελίστριας Τρίκερι είναι ορθόδοξο μοναστήρι το οποίο βρίσκεται στη νησίδα Παλαιό Τρίκερι του Παγασητικού κόλπου. Η μονή απ' έξω μοιάζει με φρούριο, είναι κτισμένη σε υψόμετρο 129 μέτρα και έχει θέα προς το Αιγαίο, την Εύβοια, τον Παγασητικό και ολόκληρο το Πήλιο. Κτίστηκε το 1825-1837, είναι αφιερωμένο στον Ευαγγελισμό της Θεοτόκου και πανηγυρίζει 9 με 10 Σεπτεμβρίου. Ο ναός του καθολικού είναι δίκλιτος και σπηλαιώδης ενώ το ένα κλίτος είναι αφιερωμένο στον Ιωάννη Πρόδρομο και στο άλλο στην Αγία Τριάδα. Έχει περιποιημένη πλακόστρωτη αυλή με πολλές όμορφες γλάστρες και αρκετά δένδρα. Υπάρχουν περίπου 100 κελιά στα οποία έμεναν οι πάνω από 5.000 γυναίκες-πολιτικοί εξόριστοι της Αριστεράς την περίοδο του εμφυλίου. Απογράφεται για πρώτη φορά ως οικισμός το 1961 στην κοινότητα Τρικερίου. Σύμφωνα με την απογραφή 2011 δεν απογράφεται κανείς. Οι απογραφές πραγματικού πληθυσμού (de facto) είναι:

Sesklo (Greek: Σέσκλο; Aromanian: Seshklu) is a village in Greece that is located near Volos, a city located within the municipality of Aisonia. The municipality is located within the regional unit of Magnesia that is located within the administrative region of Thessaly. During the prehistory of Southeastern Europe, Sesklo was a significant settlement of Neolithic Greece, before the advent of the Bronze Age and millennia before the Mycenaean period.

Η Κίτρινη Αποθήκη είναι καπναποθήκη στον Βόλο η οποία κτίστηκε το 1926 για λογαριασμό της εταιρείας καπνών America Tobacco. Βρίσκεται στη συνοικία Μεταμόρφωση, στο κέντρο του Βόλου και καταλαμβάνει μισό οικοδομικό τετράγωνο. Η πενταώροφη αποθήκη χρησιμοποιήθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια της γερμανικής κατοχής ως τόπος φυλάκισης, βασανιστηρίων και εκτελέσεων.

Korope (Ancient Greek: Κορόπη) was an ancient Greek town of Magnesia, located in the region of Thessaly, with a site sacred to Apollo. Its site is identified as near modern Margarania.

Το Παλαιόκαστρο ή Καραμπασιότικο Καστρί, υψώνεται στην κορυφή του λόφου βορειοδυτικά από το χωριό Άνω Λεχώνια του Πηλίου. Πρόκειται για την τοποθεσία που βρίσκονται τα ερείπια ενός οχυρωμένου οικισμού - κάστρου, ένας λόφος "προστατευμένος από τα βόρεια, την ανατολή και τη δύση από μεγάλους βράχους, που πέφτουν κατακόρυφα, μέσα σε μια χαράδρα…", όπως αναφέρει ο Γάλλος περιηγητής Alfred Mézières περιγράφοντας την ευρύτερη περιοχή. Στην ουσία πρόκειται για ένα είδος ''Μιστρά του Πηλίου'' δηλαδή μία ολόκληρη μεσαιωνική καστροπολιτεία, η οποία είναι χτισμένη στους πρόποδες του όρους και σε συνέχεια και συνάφεια σειράς κάστρων που υπάρχουν στην ευρύτερη περιοχή, όπως αυτά του Βόλου, της Αγίας Τριάδας κ.ά. Μέρος της εξωτερικής οχύρωσης στην δυτική πλευρά του κάστρου.Στο βάθος διακρίνονται τα Άνω Λεχώνια.

Mouresi (Greek: Μουρέσι) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. It is situated in the northeastern part of the Pelion peninsula. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Zagora-Mouresi, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 54.214 km². The seat of the municipality was in Tsagkarada.

Argalasti (Greek: Αργαλαστή) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 74.820 km². It is built on a fertile plateau, 40 km southeast of Volos. It is an important commercial and tourism center of the area with a rich cultural tradition. Argalasti is a stopping point for those headed for the nearby beaches of the Pagasetic Gulf (Chorto, Kalamos, Lefokastro) or the Aegean Sea (Potistika, Melani, Paltsi). An example of the architecture of the beginning of the 20th century is the church tower of Sts. Apostles.

South Pelion (Greek: Νότιο Πήλιο, Notio Pilio) is a municipality in the Magnesia regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Argalasti. The municipality has an area of 368.539 km². It comprises the southern part of Mount Pelion.

Kala Nera (Greek: Καλά Νερά meaning "good waters") is a village in the municipal unit of Milies, Magnesia, Greece. It is situated in the western part of the mountainous Pelion peninsula, on the Pagasetic Gulf coast. It is 3 km southwest of Milies, 5 km southeast of Agios Georgios Nileias and 17 km southeast of Volos.

Afetes (Greek: Αφέτες) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 80.744 km². The seat of the municipality was in Neochori. Afetes is situated in the Pelion peninsula, 2 km from the Pagasetic Gulf coast, 4 km southwest of Neochori, 6 km northwest of Argalasti and 23 km southeast of Volos.

Magnesia (Greek: Μαγνησία, Magnisía, IPA: [maɣniˈsia], Ancient Greek: Magnēsía, deriving from the tribe name Magnetes) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Thessaly. Its capital is the city of Volos. About 70% of the population of Magnesia live in the Greater Volos area, which is the second-largest city in Thessaly and the third busiest commercial port in Greece.

Milies (Greek: Μηλιές) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 63.754 km². It is a traditional Greek mountain village, at a height of 400 m on Mount Pelion. It is 28 km from Volos, the capital city of Magnesia. Milies is connected with the GR-34A (Volos - Promyri) It has traditional stone houses, cobbled roads, good restaurants and accommodation in abundance. Milies is also notable for being the terminus of the narrow gauge (60 cm) Pelion Railway, built between 1895 and 1903 by the Italian engineer, Evaristo de Chirico, father of the famous artist Giorgio de Chirico. This proved to be of considerable economic advantage to the region. The recently railway runs between Ano Lechonia and Milies twice a week at the weekend. The village commands striking views across the Pagasetic Gulf and benefits from the many streams and water sources for which Mt. Pelion is renowned. These result in rich vegetation and cool, forested mountain slopes.

Neochori (Greek: Νεοχώρι) is a village and a community situated on the peninsula of Pelion, Magnesia, eastern Thessaly, Greece. It was the seat of the former municipality Afetes. The village is hidden in the embrace of a vast pine forest 480 meters above sea level, and about 35 km southeast of the city of Volos. The community Neochori consists of the villages Neochori, Agios Dimitrios, Afyssos, Zervochia, Megali Vrysi and Plaka. The community stretches from the Aegean Sea coast of the Pelion peninsula to the Pagasetic Gulf. Agios Dimitrios and Plaka are on the Aegean coast, and the tourist centre Afyssos is on the Pagasetic coast.

Rigas Feraios (Greek: Ρήγας Φεραίος, [ˈri.gas feˈre.os]) is a municipality in the Magnesia regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Velestino. The municipality has an area of 551 km² (213 sq mi). The municipality was named after the Greek writer and revolutionary Rigas Feraios, whose hometown was Velestino.

Pinakates (Greek: Πινακάτες) is a mountain village in the Magnesia regional unit, Greece. It is part of the municipal unit of Milies.

Zagora (Greek: Ζαγορά) is a village and a former municipality on the Pelion peninsula in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Zagora-Mouresi, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 96.101 km².

Zagora–Mouresi (Greek: Ζαγορά-Μουρέσι, [zaɣoˈra-muˈresi]) is a municipality in the Magnesia regional unit, Thessaly, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Zagora. The municipality has an area of 150.315 km².

Tsagkarada (Greek: Τσαγκαράδα) is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Mouresi in the eastern part of Magnesia, Greece.

Keramidi (Greek: Κεραμίδι) is a village and a former community in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Rigas Feraios, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 111.532 km². Population 358 (2021).

Phthiotic Thebes (Ancient Greek: Θῆβαι Φθιώτιδες, romanized: Thebai Phthiotides or Φθιώτιδες Θήβες or Φθιώτιδος Θήβες; Latin: Thebae Phthiae) or Thessalian Thebes (Θῆβαι Θεσσαλικαἰ, Thebai Thessalikai) was a city and polis in ancient Thessaly, Greece; its site north of the modern village of Mikrothives.

Magnesia Prefecture (Greek: Νομός Μαγνησίας) was one of the prefectures of Greece. Its capital was Volos. It was established in 1899 from the Larissa Prefecture. The prefecture was disbanded on 1 January 2011 by the Kallikratis programme, and split into the regional units of Magnesia and the Sporades.

Agria (Greek: Αγριά) is a town and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 25.227 km². It lies on the Pelion peninsula about 7 km from Volos.

Nea Anchialos (Greek: Νέα Αγχίαλος) is a town and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. It is situated southwest of Volos and north of Almyros, on the coast of the Pagasetic Gulf. It is located on the national highway Athens-Lamia-Volos. The area of the municipal unit is 80.461 km² (31.066 sq mi) and its population 5,881 people (2021).

Dimini (Greek: Διμήνι; older form: Diminion) is a village near the city of Volos, in Thessaly (central Greece), in Magnesia. It was the seat of the municipality of Aisonia. The name Aisonia dates back to ancient times. Currently, Dumini is the westernmost place in the Volos area. The Dimini area contains both a Mycenean settlement and a Neolithic settlement. The Neolithic settlement in Dimini was discovered near the end of the 19th century and was first excavated by the archaeologists Christos Tsountas and Valerios Stais.

Το Σέσκλο (παλαιότερα Σέσκουλο, γνωστό και ως Σέσου ή Σέσι στα βλάχικα) είναι χωριό της Θεσσαλίας στον δήμο Βόλου της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Μαγνησίας. Σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2011 ο πληθυσμός του ανέρχεται στους 862 κατοίκους.

Ο Αλατάς ή Γαλάτεια είναι νησίδα του Παγασητικού κόλπου με έκταση 0,566 τ.χλμ. και υψόμετρο 10 μ. η οποία βρίσκεται στο νοτιοανατολικό τμήμα του κόλπου, πολύ κοντά στις ακτές της χερσονήσου της Μαγνησίας και νοτιοδυτικά της Μηλίνας. Το όνομα του νησιού οφείλεται στις αλυκές που υπήρχαν στην απέναντι ακτή. Το νησί είναι μακρόστενο. Έχει την ίδια βλάστηση με την απέναντι ακτή και καλύπτεται στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος του από ελαιώνες. Στο νησί βρίσκεται η μονή των Αγίων Σαράντα στην οποία μέχρι το 2001 έμεναν 5 μοναχοί ενώ σύμφωνα με την απογραφή 2011 κανένας. Ανήκει διοικητικά στην κοινότητα Τρικερίου. Το 1822 έγινε στη νησίδα φονική μάχη μεταξύ Ελλήνων επαναστατών και Τουρκαλβανών, που κατέληξε σε νίκη των Ελλήνων.
