The Sudbury Basin (), also known as Sudbury Structure or the Sudbury Nickel Irruptive, is a major geological structure in Ontario, Canada. It is among the oldest- and largest-known impact structures on Earth. The structure, the eroded remnant of an impact crater, was formed by the impact of an asteroid 1.849 billion years ago in the Paleoproterozoic era. The ores of the Sudbury Basin are known to contain nickel, copper, gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, and ruthenium.
Sudbury, officially the City of Greater Sudbury, is the largest city in Northern Ontario by population, with a population of 166,004 at the 2021 Canadian Census. By land area, it is the largest in Ontario and the fifth largest in Canada. It is administratively a single-tier municipality and thus is not part of any district, county, or regional municipality. The City of Greater Sudbury is separate from, but entirely surrounded by the Sudbury District. The city is also referred to as "Ville du Grand Sudbury" among Francophones.
Collège Boréal d’arts appliqués et de technologie is a French-language college of applied arts and technology serving the Northern and Central Southwestern Ontario area. It is the youngest of the 24 Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. Located in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, Collège Boréal has a total of 42 access centres across 28 cities in the province, including main campuses in Hamilton, Hearst, Kapuskasing, London, Nipissing, Sudbury, Timmins, Toronto, Welland, and Windsor. Collège Boréal began its operations in 1995 as a postsecondary institution. The students are offered technical programs that helps them gain access to a bilingual labour market. In 2002, Collège Boréal opened a campus in Toronto, taking over the programs and services of the defunct Collège des Grands-Lacs. In 2012, the Toronto campus moved to One Yonge Street, and in 2023 to 60 Distillery Lane in the Distillery District in Toronto.

Capreol railway station, located in the community of Capreol, Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, is a stop for Via Rail's transcontinental The Canadian passenger rail service. The station building was constructed in 1915 by the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) at a divisional point on the Canadian Northern system. It became part of the Canadian National (CN Rail) railway system when Canadian Northern was amalgamated with other railways to form CN. After the creation of Via Rail, ownership and management of the station, along with passenger services, were transferred to Via Rail, while freight operations continued with CN Rail.
Sudbury station is a railway station in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada serving Via Rail. It is the eastern terminus of the Sudbury – White River train. Located in downtown Sudbury, this historic Romanesque station built in 1907 by Canadian Pacific Railway, is one of the two VIA Rail stations in Sudbury, the other being Sudbury Junction station (serving The Canadian train) which is located 10 km away on the outskirts of the city. There is no shuttle service available between the two stations.

Sudbury Airport or Greater Sudbury Airport (IATA: YSB, ICAO: CYSB) is an airport in the Canadian city of Greater Sudbury, Ontario and is located 11 nautical miles (20 km; 13 mi) northeast of the downtown area, on Municipal Road 86 between the communities of Garson and Skead. Although in many contexts the airport uses the name Greater Sudbury Airport, its official name, as registered with Transport Canada and printed in all aeronautical publications, is still simply Sudbury Airport.
Unorganized North Sudbury District is an unorganized area in the Canadian province of Ontario, comprising all portions of the Sudbury District which are not organized into incorporated municipalities. Despite its name, there is no longer an accompanying "South Part", as that subdivision has been dissolved in 1999 and incorporated into municipalities, and Statistics Canada has not renamed the North Part.

Vermilion Lake is a lake in the city of Greater Sudbury, Ontario which is situated approximately 33 km west of downtown, in Fairbank Township. The lake's primary inflow and outflow is the Vermilion River. There is also a small creek that flows into Vermillion Lake, Cameron Creek. This creek connects Cameron lake and the Vermillion. The creek is unpassable except for canoe as the water level can only be a few inches. There is also a small set of rapids along the creek.

It was built in 1951, on the site of the former Central Public School, at a cost of $700,000. The approval and construction of the arena was overseen by Sudbury Mayor Bill Beaton. It is home to the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League and the Sudbury Five of the Basketball Super League.
Sudbury Secondary School is a high school in the downtown of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, well known for its Arts Education Program, featuring theatre arts, dance, vocal music, instrumental music, keyboard, media arts and visual art. Sudbury Secondary School produces a mainstage musical each year (usually in the fall), as well as various other plays, concerts, art exhibits, and dance shows throughout the year. Sudbury Secondary School's F.W. Sheridan Auditorium also plays host to many performances by various organizations, groups, and out-of-town experiences. The school was created by combining the Sudbury High School (SHS) with Sheridan Technical School in 1974. Up until that time the two schools shared the same campus but operated independently with two different student streams and a strong rivalry. SHS students were all streamed in a 5 year program aimed at University enrollment. Most went on to University. In 1973 SHS students protested the plans to amalgamate the schools and walked out to no avail.

Wolf Lake is a freshwater lake in the Sudbury District Census Division in the Canadian province of Ontario. The lake is located in the Wolf Lake Forest Preserve which is within (but not part of) the Chiniguchi River Waterway Provincial Park, a protected area. The Wolf Lake Forest Reserve contains the world's largest remaining old-growth red pine forest; with trees estimated to be between 140 and 300 years old. In March 2012, the provincial government reaffirmed the protected status of Wolf Lake Old Growth Forest Reserve but in late May renewed the mining leases in the area as well.

Daisy Lake Uplands Provincial Park is a provincial park in the Canadian province of Ontario. Surrounding Daisy Lake in the city of Greater Sudbury, the park serves to protect a recovering ecosystem scarred by pollution from the city's mining industry; one of the industry's first roasting beds in the region was located just east of the park boundaries. The park's ecosystem includes white birch trees, grasses, sedges, rock barrens and bog vegetation. The site is designated as a control area for ecological research—unlike in other parts of the city, where extensive environmental mitigation and recovery programs have been undertaken since the 1970s, Daisy Lake Uplands is set aside for study of the site's ability to recover on its own without human intervention. The park was first proposed for creation in 2003, and was officially designated by an amendment to the Ontario Provincial Parks Act in 2006.

It was a federated school of Laurentian University until May 1, 2021, when Laurentian terminated its relationships with all of its federated schools as part of the 2021 Laurentian University financial crisis; it was subsequently announced that the University of Sudbury will continue operations as an independent French-language university.

Gibson Lake is a lake in geographic Hutton Township in Greater Sudbury in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Great Lakes Basin and is on the Vermilion River, which flows via the Spanish River to Lake Huron. The Canadian National Railway transcontinental main line, used by freight traffic and the Canadian passenger train, travels along the eastern shore of the lake.
