Adams County is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 27,477. Its county seat is West Union. The county is named after John Adams, the second President of the United States.

The Harshaville Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge spanning the Cherry Fork Creek at Harshaville, Adams County, Ohio. Built in 1855, it is a Burr truss bridge with a 110-foot span. It has sheet metal siding, a metal roof and stone abutments. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

J.M. Stuart Station is a 2,318 MW coal-fired generating facility located east of Aberdeen, Ohio in Adams County, Ohio. The power plant has four units. The plant was built by Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) and became fully operational in 1974. On January 10, 2017, an explosion occurred at one of the coal-fired units inside the plant injuring six people. The plant had to be temporarily shut down while DP&L investigated and assessed the explosion. The plant began a restart the following month. DP&L announced plans in January 2017 to close J.M. Stuart Station in an agreement with the Sierra Club and several unnamed parties. The closure is planned for mid-2018.

Maintained within a park by Ohio History Connection, it has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the United States Department of Interior. The Serpent Mound of Ohio was first reported from surveys by Ephraim Squire and Edwin Davis in their historic volume Ancient Monuments of the Mississippi Valley, published in 1848 by the newly founded Smithsonian Museum. The Serpent Mound is the largest serpent effigy in the world.
