Mettupalayam is a taluk and municipality in the Coimbatore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. a suburb of Coimbatore. It is located to the north of the city of Coimbatore on the way to Ooty.It is located in the foothills of Nilgiri hills about 34 km north of Coimbatore and about 50 km north of Tiruppur. Mettupalayam is the third largest town in the district. As of 2011, the town had a population of 66,595. It is important for the Nilgiri ghat road.
