Union Christian College was a small co-educational college located in Merom, Sullivan County, Indiana. Founded by the denomination called the Christian Church which eventually merged with the Congregational denomination which later joined with the Evangelical and Reformed Churches to form the United Church of Christ. It was one of the first co-educational colleges that allowed women to take any class that a man could take. Other co-educational colleges would only allow their women to study home economics, nursing, teaching, secretarial, etc. At UCC women could study to be doctors, lawyers, ministers, or home-makers. UCC was very progressive for its time. One of its most notable alumni was James M. Hamilton (class of 1890), who became the third president of Montana State University, serving from 1904 to 1919.

Sullivan County Poor Home, also known as Lakeview Home, is a historic poorhouse located in Hamilton Township, Sullivan County, Indiana, United States. It was designed by the architecture firm Wing & Mahurin and built in 1896–1897. It is a 2+12-story, asymmetrical, Romanesque Revival style brick building, consisting of a central section with flanking wings. It features a projecting central tower with arched openings and a pyramidal roof and an octagonal tower. Also on the property is a contributing one-story, two-room cottage. The home was named Lakeview Home in 1947, and remained in operation until 1998.

The Sullivan County Public Library serves residents of Sullivan and Sullivan County, Indiana. A public library, it has been in operation since 1905. In 1899, the "Woman's Club" began a drive to establish a Carnegie library in the city of Sullivan, Indiana. It was officially completed in January 1905, with a cost of $10,000, and was then open to the public. It is a two-story, Bedford limestone structure, complete with a dome. There have been several different changes to the library throughout the years, which has included a new addition to the structure in 1994, which also included an elevator. In the late 1960s and the early 1970s, the Merom, Shelburn, Farmersburg, Dugger, and Carlisle libraries merged with the Sullivan Library, and became a part of the Sullivan County Public Library system.

Shelburn Interurban Depot-THI&E Interurban Depot is a historic interurban train station located at Shelburn, Sullivan County, Indiana. It was built about 1911 and enlarged between 1916 and 1920. It is a one-story, red brick and limestone building that housed passenger and freight rooms and a substation for the electrical system that powered the interurban cars. It was used for its original purpose until the closure of the interurban line between Terre Haute, Indiana and Sullivan in May 1931.
