McNulty Reservoir Dam in Eagle County, Colorado, United States, sits 2,438 metres (7,999 feet) above sea level in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains between Rifle, Colorado and Vail, Colorado and 11km outside El Jebel, Colorado. The Dam is a water storage that used to be utilized for ranching purposes on the historic Mcnulty Ranch. The reservoir and dam are named for Eagle County, Colorado's McNulty family of cattle ranchers. The McNulty's have been Eagle County, Colorado settlers from the 1880s and cattle ranchers there from the 1920s. A portion of their McNulty Ranch, a one time 2500 acre cattle ranch operation on the Eagle-Garfield County line, was sold for Open Space conservation to Eagle county in 2006 for approximately $2 million. It is closed to any public access, fishing, or recreation.

Booth Creek Trail ascends six miles and 3,000 feet from East Vail, at 8,400 feet, to Booth Lake, elevation 11,480 feet. Along the way, there are dozens of cataracts and small waterfalls as well as a major waterfall dropping sixty feet over a ledge. Scarlet paintbrush, Castilleja miniata, meaning red colored, grows in meadows at the side of the trail. The sturdy spikes hold bracts of double-lobed flowers ranging in color from purple to sunset pink. Paintbrush is hemiparasitic, drawing nutrients from the roots of adjacent plants.

There are two main routes to NY Mtn, one from the Polar Star Hut area (1200 ft elevation gain) and one from Fulford (2500 ft elevation gain). Lake Charles Trailhead can be found by driving eleven miles south from Eagle on Brush Creek Road. At the fork in the road, turn left onto East Brush Creek Road and travel six miles to Yeoman Park Forest Service Campground. Lake Charles is 3.0 miles up the trail at 11,120 feet. The trail continues through forest, past meadows filled with wildflowers in summer, and alongside wetlands filled with short willows. Mystic Island Lake, 11,350 feet, is tucked against steep slopes an hour hike above Lake Charles. Gold Dust Peak, 13,365 feet, overlooks Lake Charles Trail to the north.
