The Sumida River (隅田川, Sumida-gawa) is a river that flows through central Tokyo, Japan. It branches from the Arakawa River at Iwabuchi (in Kita-ku) and flows into Tokyo Bay. Its tributaries include the Kanda and Shakujii rivers.

The Matsuba-kai (松葉会), meaning "Pine Needle Society," is a yakuza organization based in Tokyo, Japan. The Matsuba-kai is a designated yakuza group with an estimated 280 active members as of 2024.

Nihon Bijutsuin (日本美術院, lit. "Japan Visual Arts Academy") is a non-governmental artistic organization in Tokyo, Japan dedicated to Nihonga (Japanese style painting). The academy promotes the art of Nihonga through a biennial exhibition, the Inten Exhibition.

The Pine Trees screen (松林図 屏風, Shōrin-zu byōbu) is a pair of six-panel folding screens (byōbu) by the Japanese artist Hasegawa Tōhaku (長谷川 等伯), founder of the Hasegawa school of Japanese art. The precise date for the screens is not known, but they were clearly made in the late 16th century, in the Momoyama period, around 1595. The screens are held by the Tokyo National Museum, and were designated as a National Treasure of Japan in 1952.

The Battle of Ueno (Japanese: 上野戦争, Hepburn: Ueno Sensō) was a battle of the Boshin War, which occurred on 4 July 1868 (Meiji 1, 15th day of the 5th month), between the troops of the Shōgitai under Shibusawa Seiichirō and Amano Hachirō, and Imperial "Kangun" troops.

Independent Administrative Institution (IAI) National Museum ("National Museum") was the official name of the corporate entity created by the Japanese government in 2001 by merging three formerly independent national museums—the Tokyo National Museum, the Kyoto National Museum, and the Nara National Museum. The assimilated organizational structure was brought about as a part of the national government's administrative reform program; and the clear goal was to provide higher quality and better educational services to the public. In 2005, a fourth institution was added—the Kyushu National Museum. These reforms are designed to bring keiretsu-like synergy and enhanced administrative efficiencies in the work of achieving the range of inter-related preservation, conservation, and education goals of each unique institution.

Minatogawa stable (湊川部屋, Minatogawa-beya) is a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Nishonoseki ichimon or group of stables. The stable was opened in 2004 as Chiganoura stable (千賀ノ浦部屋, Chiganoura-beya). It became Tokiwayama stable (常盤山部屋, Tokiwayama-beya) in 2020, before changing to its current name when former ōzeki Takakeishō took over as the stablemaster in January 2026.

The Jigoku-zoshi ("Handscrolls of Buddhist Hell") is a late 12th-century Japanese scroll (emakimono, 絵巻物), depicting the 8 great hells and the 16 lesser hells in text and painting.

Genkū-ji (源空寺), is a Buddhist temple located in the Higashiueno neighborhood of Taitō-ku, Tokyo, Japan. The temple belongs to the Jōdo-shū sect of Japanese Buddhism and its honzon is a statue of Hōnen.

The Textile Culture and Ukiyo-e Art Museum – Amuse Museum (「布文化と浮世絵の美術館」アミューズミュージアム, Nuno Bunka to Ukiyoe no Bijutsukan Amyūzu Myūjiamu), or simply Amuse Museum, was a private museum specializing in Japanese textile culture and ukiyo-e. It opened on 1 November 2009 in Asakusa, Tokyo, not too far from Ueno Park, where multiple other museums are located. The museum was closed on 31 March 2019.

Cypress Trees (檜図, hinoki-zu) is a Kanō-school byōbu or folding screen attributed to the Japanese painter Kanō Eitoku (1543–1590), one of the most prominent patriarchs of the Kanō school of Japanese painting. The painting dates to the Azuchi–Momoyama period (1573–1615). Now in Tokyo National Museum, it has been designated a National Treasure.

Kuramae Kokugikan (Japanese: 蔵前国技館, Hepburn: Kuramae Kokugi-kan) was a building situated in the Kuramae neighborhood of Taitō, Tokyo which was built by the Japan Sumo Association and opened in 1954. Its construction was decided to replace the old bomb-damaged Ryōgoku Kokugikan. It closed its doors in 1984. The building was torn down and sporting events were transferred to the second Ryōgoku Kokugikan. The place is now the site of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Sewage.

San'ya (山谷, San'ya) is an area in the Taitō and Arakawa wards of Tokyo, located south of the Namidabashi intersection, around the Yoshino-dori. A neighborhood named "San'ya" existed until 1966, but the area was renamed and split between several neighborhoods.

Ueno Gakuen Junior College (上野学園大学短期大学部, Ueno Gakuen Daigaku Tanki Daigakubu) is a private junior college for women in Taitō, Tokyo, Japan. It was established in 1952 in Taitō, Tokyo, then moved to Sōka, Saitama, before moving back to Taitō, Tokyo in 2005.

Ueno Gakuen University (上野学園大学, Ueno gakuen daigaku) is a private university in Taito, Tokyo, Japan, specialising in music. It was established in 1958. Its predecessor was a school for young women founded in 1904.

The Yanaka five-storied pagoda double-suicide arson case (谷中五重塔放火心中事件, Yanaka Gojūnotō Hōka Shinjū Jiken) was a dramatic case of arson in 1957 of a five-storied wooden pagoda in Yanaka Cemetery, Taitō, Tokyo. The pagoda was set on fire by two lovers who committed suicide together – their bodies were found in the remains of the structure.

Yanesen (谷根千) is a district in Tokyo, which has many historical structures, in the style of Edo-period Tokyo. It is known for its traditional style and antiquated temple district-style.

Asakusa International Theater (浅草国際劇場, Asakusa Kokusai Gekijō) was a 3,860-seat theater located in Asakusa, Taitō, Tokyo, Japan, which was used for concerts and theatrical performances. Opened in 1937 and closed in 1982, it was demolished and replaced by the Asakusa View Hotel in 1985. It was owned and operated by Shochiku and primarily featured the Shōchiku Shōjo Kagekidan (松竹少女歌劇団), an all-woman musical theatre troupe. The SKD often appeared in a double bill with a film. Other artists that performed at the theater include King Crimson and Whitesnake.

Dōjigiri (童子切, "Slayer of Shuten-dōji") is a tachi-type Japanese sword that has been identified as a National Treasure of Japan. This sword is one of the "Five Swords Under Heaven" (天下五剣 Tenka-Goken).

The Japan Federation of Medical Workers' Unions (Japanese: 日本医療労働組合連合会, Nihon Iroren) is a trade union representing workers in the healthcare sector in Japan.

The Suda Hachiman Shrine Mirror (Japanese: 隅田八幡神社人物画像鏡, Hepburn: Suda Hachiman Jinja Jinbutsu Gazō-kyō) in Hashimoto, Wakayama, Japan is a National Treasure of Japan. It is a bronze mirror cast with 48 Chinese characters around the fifth century. It is an important artifact for the research in Japanese archaeology and Old Japanese language. It was found at Suda Hachiman Shrine, and its earliest mention in text is in the 3rd volume of the Kii no kuni meisho zue (紀伊国名所図会; "Illustrated Guide to Places of Note in Kii Province") published in 1838.

Hanayashiki (浅草花やしき, Asakusa hanayashiki) is an amusement park in Asakusa, Taitō, Tokyo, Japan, that has operated since 1853. It is operated by Hanayashiki Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings. It is claimed to be the oldest amusement park in Japan. One of the unofficial mascots of the park is the Panda Car (パンダカー).

Haboku sansui (破墨山水図, haboku sansui-zu; Broken Ink Landscape) is a splashed-ink landscape painting on a hanging scroll. It was made by the Japanese artist Sesshū Tōyō in 1495, in the Muromachi period. The ink wash painting is classified as a National Treasure of Japan and currently held by the Tokyo National Museum.

The Statue of Mahamayuri on Colored Silk is a 12th-century Heian period Buddhist painting depicting the bodhisattva Mahamayuri. Considered the oldest surviving work of the deity in Japan, and known for its polychromy and kirikane patterning, it is designated a National Treasure and is currently held by the Tokyo National Museum.

Hotel Sofitel Tokyo (ホテルソフィテル東京) was a hotel high-rise building (106.07 m, 3 underground storeys) in Taito-ku, Tokyo (1-48, 2 Ikenohata, Taito-ku, Tokyo, Japan). It was established in 1994 as Hotel Cosima with 71 rooms on 26 cantilever floors. In 1999 it was purchased by Accor Group. After a brief refurbishment (with the number of rooms increased to 83) it was reopened as 4-star hotel in September 2000, but was soon closed in December 2006 and was demolished between February 2007 and May 2008.

Yoshiwara (吉原) is a red-light district in Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1617, Yoshiwara was one of three licensed and well-known famous yūkaku created during the early 17th century by the Tokugawa shogunate, alongside Shimabara in Kyoto in 1640 and Shinmachi in Osaka.

A Benten-dō (弁天堂, lit. hall of Benten) is a Buddhist temple dedicated to Benten or Benzaiten, goddess of wealth, happiness, wisdom, and music. Many such temples exist all over Japan.

Kappabashi-dori, also known just as Kappabashi (Japanese: 合羽橋) or Kitchen Town, is a street in Tokyo between Ueno and Asakusa which is almost entirely populated with shops supplying the restaurant trade. These shops sell everything from knives and other kitchen utensils, mass-produced crockery, restaurant furniture, ovens, and decorations, through to esoteric items such as the plastic display food (sampuru, derived from English sample) found outside Japanese restaurants. The street is also an off-beat tourist destination.

The Ryōunkaku (凌雲閣, Ryōunkaku; lit. Cloud-Surpassing Pavilion or Cloud-Surpassing Tower) was Japan's first Western-style skyscraper. It stood in the Asakusa district of City of Tokyo (now Taitō, Tokyo) from 1890 until its demolition in 1923 following the Great Kantō earthquake of 1923. The Asakusa Jūnikai (浅草十二階; lit. Asakusa Twelve-stories), as it was affectionately called by Tokyoites, was Tokyo's most popular attraction, and a showcase for new technologies. It housed Japan's first electric elevator.

The Haniwa Warrior in "Keiko" Armor (Japanese: 埴輪武装男子立像; Romaji: Haniwa busō danshi ritsuzō) is a 6th century haniwa sculpture of an armored warrior. Discovered in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, it is deemed a significant icon of Kofun period art, and a National Treasure. It is currently held by the Tokyo National Museum under ownership of the National Institutes for Cultural Heritage.

Autumn and Winter Landscapes (Japanese: 紙本墨画秋冬山水図, Romaji: Shihon Bokuga Shūtō Sansuizu) is a Japanese ink painting created by Sesshū Tōyō, a Zen monk and prominent landscape painter during the Muromachi period. Currently held at the Tokyo National Museum, it is considered a masterpiece of Chinese-style landscape painting, and was designated National Treasure on 31 March 1953.

Bandai Co., Ltd. is a Japanese multinational toy manufacturer and distributor headquartered in Taitō, Tokyo, including many international branches around the world. Since 2005, Bandai is the toy production division of Bandai Namco Holdings, which, in 2017, was the world's second largest toy company measured by total revenue. Between 1981 and 2001, Bandai was a manufacturer of video game consoles.

Japan Art Academy (日本芸術院, Nihon Geijutsu-in) is the highest-ranking official artistic organization in Japan. It is established as an extraordinary organ of the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs (文化庁, Bunkacho) in the thirty-first article of the law establishing the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The Academy discusses art-related issues, advises the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on art-related issues, and promotes arts in three categories: 1) fine art, 2) literary arts, 3) music, drama, and dance. It is closely associated with the annual Japan Art Academy Exhibition (Nitten), the premier art exhibition in Japan; the Japan Art Academy originally ran the Nitten but since 1958 the exhibition is run by a separate private institution. The Japan Art Academy headquarters is in Ueno Park, Tokyo.

MOSS is a Japanese video game company created in 1993. Beginning in 2005, they became known for developing new games in the Raiden franchise that was originally created by Seibu Kaihatsu. Throughout the years, they have diversified their portfolio outside of vertical shooters.

Maseki Geinosha Co., Ltd (株式会社マセキ芸能社) is a Japanese talent agency headquartered in Minato, Tokyo. It was founded in 1950 and manages talents, with a main focus on comedians. The agency has produced numerous well known comedians such as Ucchan Nanchan and are considered one of the forefront agencies for comedians.

Tamsoft Corporation (株式会社タムソフト, Kabushiki Gaisha Tamu Sofuto) is a Japanese video game developer founded in 1992, best known for their work on the Battle Arena Toshinden, Onechanbara and Senran Kagura series. Its former president, Toshiaki Ōta, previously worked at Toaplan as one of the six original team members and head of software development.

鶯谷（うぐいすだに）は東京都台東区の地名。東日本旅客鉄道（JR東日本）山手線・京浜東北線の鶯谷駅を中心とした地域。

シアター上野（シアターうえの）は、東京都台東区、上野仲町通りの商店街にあるストリップ劇場。

浅草今半（あさくさいまはん、英: Asakusa Imahan）は、株式会社今半と株式会社高伴（株式会社今半の子会社）の2社で運営されている日本料理店「浅草今半グループ」である。1895年（明治28年）創業の日本料理店今半を母体として、株式会社今半は国内産黒毛和牛を主体にした精肉の加工販売、牛肉佃煮の製造販売、全国のデパートなどでの牛丼催事販売、弁当事業等を、株式会社高伴はすき焼きを中心とする日本料理割烹を浅草で運営している。スローガンは「みち、今だ半ば」。

聚楽台（じゅらくだい）は、1959年から2008年まで、東京都台東区のJR上野駅前の「西郷会館」2階で営業していたレストラン。和食、洋食、中華、寿司など「何でもあるファミリーレストランの先駆け的存在」で、株式会社聚楽が経営にあたっていた。

笹乃雪（ささのゆき）は、東京都台東区根岸二丁目にある豆富料理の店舗である。2022年8月 (2022-08)現在、店舗移転ならびにコロナ禍の為に休業中も、2024年夏に新店舗で営業を再開の予定。

松坂屋上野店（まつざかや うえのてん）は、東京都台東区上野に所在する、大丸松坂屋百貨店（J.フロント リテイリング）が運営する百貨店。上野松坂屋とも称する。銀座店が百貨店としての営業を終了した2013年以降は、関東地方にある唯一の松坂屋の店舗である。

日本堤交番（にほんづつみこうばん）は警視庁浅草警察署管内の交番。2008年（平成20年）10月までは所在地周辺の旧町名から命名された「山谷地区交番」の名称であった。改名に合わせ「地区交番」から通常の交番に縮小されている。旧山谷地区交番の時代から地元では「マンモス交番」の愛称で知られていた。

東京都立台東病院（とうきょうとりつたいとうびょういん）は、かつて存在した日本の医療機関。東京都が運営する病院であった。旧東京都立吉原病院。

浅草観音温泉（あさくさかんのんおんせん）は、東京都台東区にあった温泉銭湯。浅草寺の西隣、浅草花やしきの前にあり、早朝から入浴できたが、ボイラー故障のため2016年6月に閉店した。2018年2月に解体工事になった。

キムチ横丁（キムチよこちょう）は東京都台東区東上野の一角に所在するコリア・タウン。

台東区立下谷中学校（たいとうくりつ したやちゅうがっこう）は、かつて東京都台東区下谷に所在した区立中学校。

台東区立竜泉中学校（たいとうくりつ りゅうせんちゅうがっこう）は、かつて東京都台東区竜泉に所在した区立中学校。

仲見世通り（なかみせどおり）は、東京都台東区浅草の浅草寺参道にある商店街。

浅草火力発電所（あさくさかりょくはつでんしょ）は、東京電燈が東京府東京市浅草区浅草南元町（現：東京都台東区蔵前）に設置した発電所。現在も使用されている東日本の周波数50ヘルツの起源になった。

浅草公園水族館（あさくさこうえんすいぞくかん）は、かつて存在した日本の水族館である。通称浅草水族館。 昭和初年に2階が「余興場」となり、軽演劇の劇団「カジノ・フォーリー」が旗揚げしたことで知られる。

寛永寺坂駅（かんえいじさかえき）は、かつて東京都台東区の京成電鉄本線上に存在していた駅である。博物館動物園駅とともに、日暮里駅 - 京成上野駅間の地下線に設けられていた地下駅だった。

松吟寺（しょうぎんじ）は、東京都台東区橋場2丁目にある曹洞宗の寺院である。

正燈寺（しょうとうじ）は、東京都台東区竜泉一丁目にある臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院。山号は東陽山。

延壽寺（えんじゅじ）は、東京都台東区谷中一丁目にある日蓮宗の寺院。山号は六浦山。旧本山は身延山久遠寺（身延門流）、潮師法縁。

新世界（しんせかい）は、東京都台東区浅草にかつて存在した日本の複合娯楽ビル。斜陽にあった浅草公園六区の再興を期し、大温泉浴場やマンモス劇場キャバレーを備えた「娯楽のデパート」として1959年（昭和34年）11月3日に開館したが、13年後の1972年（昭和47年）頃には閉館した。

立善寺（りゅうぜんじ）は、東京都台東区にある日蓮宗の寺院。山号は長興山。旧本山は佐野妙顕寺、潮師法縁。

大照寺（だいしょうじ）は、東京都台東区にある真宗佛光寺派の寺院。

正宝院（しょうぼういん、旧字体：正寶院）は、東京都台東区にある天台宗系の単立寺院。

真龍寺（しんりゅうじ）は、東京都台東区にある真宗大谷派系の単立寺院（浄土真宗東本願寺派）。

元永本古今和歌集（げんえいぼんこきんわかしゅう）は、平安時代末期（12世紀）に書写された『古今和歌集』の古写本。仮名序および全20巻を完存する『古今和歌集』の写本としては、最古の遺品。綴葉装（列帖装）冊子本、上下二帖。平安時代後期、元永3年（1120年）頃に書写され、仮名書道の絶頂期における代表的古筆の一つ。伝称筆者は源俊頼だが、書風から藤原定実を筆者とするのがほぼ定説である。国宝。東京国立博物館蔵。

秋萩帖（あきはぎじょう）は、平安時代の書の作品の一つで、草仮名の代表的遺品。巻子本、1巻。和歌48首と王羲之尺牘（せきとく）臨書11通が書写されている。伝称筆者は小野道風及び藤原行成。書写年代は不明だが10世紀ないしは11世紀か。国宝。東京国立博物館蔵。

「東都浅艸本願寺」（とうとあさくさほんがんじ）は、葛飾北斎の名所浮世絵揃物『冨嶽三十六景』全46図中の1図。落款は「前北斎為一笔」とある。

『鮭』（さけ）は、明治初期の洋画家、高橋由一による油彩画である。東京芸術大学大学美術館が所蔵する日本の重要文化財に指定された作品を含む計3点が由一の真筆と認められており、『花魁』と並ぶ由一の代表作品である。様々な歴史や美術の教科書に掲載された他、1980年（昭和55年）の近代美術シリーズや、2020年（令和2年）の美術の世界シリーズなどに切手画題として選出された。3点の鮭図の他、神奈川県立歴史博物館が所蔵する『川鱒図』をこの連作に加える場合もあるが、『川鱒図』については諸説があるため後述する。

首尾の松（しゅびのまつ）は、隅田川西岸の、東京都台東区浅草蔵前に生育している松。

鵲尾形柄香炉（じゃくびがたえごうろ、英語: Incense Burner with Magpie's Tail-shaped Handle）、国宝指定名称「金銅柄香炉」（こんどうえごうろ）は、東京国立博物館所蔵の柄香炉であり、法隆寺献納宝物のひとつとして国宝に指定されている。

舟橋蒔絵硯箱（ふなばし まきえ すずりばこ）は、本阿弥光悦の作と伝わる江戸時代初期の蒔絵の硯箱。光悦蒔絵の代表作と目されるだけでなく、優れた意匠と技法により日本の古典工芸における特筆すべき傑作と広く認められ、1967年に国宝に指定された。

《花下遊樂圖》（日語：花下遊楽図），屏風，狩野長信（狩野永德之弟）所畫，以水墨畫的技法，表現在八角堂緣上，貴公子前舞蹈的婦女，和盛開之櫻花下的貴夫人。

『普賢菩薩像』（ふげんぼさつぞう）は、平安時代後期（12世紀中頃）に制作されたと考えられている、普賢菩薩を描いた絹本着色の天台仏画。『法華経』に基づくこの普賢菩薩来儀図は、普賢菩薩が濁悪の世において法華経信仰者を憐み擁護すべく信仰者の眼前へ現出した情景を描いている。

『花魁』（おいらん）は、明治初期の洋画家、高橋由一による油彩画である。新吉原の大店である稲本楼の花魁小稲をモデルとした作品で、1872年（明治5年）4月に描かれた。国の重要文化財に指定されるなど、『鮭』と並んで由一を代表する作品となっている。

第2上野トンネル（だい2うえのトンネル）は、東北新幹線上野駅 - 大宮駅間にある総延長1,495メートルの複線鉄道トンネルである。資料によっては上野第2トンネルと表記されていることもある。トンネルの入口は地下の上野駅（全長834メートル）につながっており、上野駅より起点側は全長1,133メートルの第1上野トンネルとなっている。このことから全体を合わせて全長3,462メートルの上野トンネルと呼ぶこともある。

ギャラリー・エフ蔵（ギャラリー・エフぐら、英称：Gallery ef）は、東京都台東区雷門にあるギャラリー。

瓢簞池（ひょうたんいけ）は、東京都台東区浅草にかつて存在した日本の池。浅草公園四区の林泉地にあり、浅草の情緒的な象徴として親しまれた。この場所には古くから瓢簞池と呼ばれる池が存在したが、1882年（明治15年）から1883年（明治16年）にかけて、浅草公園の整備に伴い、新たに「大池」が開削されて作られた。俗に、新たにできたこの大池を指して「瓢簞池」と呼ばれた。第二次世界大戦後、戦災で焼失した浅草寺本堂の再建費用の捻出のため、池の土地が売却され、1951年（昭和26年）に埋め立てられた。

JTJ宣教神学校（英語：Jesus To Japan Mission Seminary）は、東京都台東区にある、穏健な福音主義のキリスト教神学校。1990年に設立された。

国宝指定名称・金銅灌頂幡（こんどうかんじょうばん）は東京国立博物館所蔵の幡である。一般的な幡は布製であるところ、本品は銅製透彫鍍金という他に類を見ない絢爛な技法・材質でつくられており、日本古代の金工品を代表する品とされている。

上野東宝劇場・上野宝塚劇場（うえのとうほうげきじょう・うえのたからづかげきじょう）は、東京都台東区上野公園に存在した東宝系列の映画館。

御行の松（おぎょうのまつ）は、東京都台東区根岸にある西蔵院の不動堂（御行の松不動尊）に存する松の名前。2018年4月に四代目が植樹された。

隅田川橋梁（すみだがわきょうりょう）は、隅田川に架かる鉄道橋で、東日本旅客鉄道（JR東日本）中央・総武緩行線（総武本線の支線）を通している。

東京都立農業高等学校（とうきょうとりつ のうぎょうこうとうがっこう、英: Tokyo Metropolitan Nogyo High School）は、東京都府中市寿町一丁目に所在する農業・家庭を専門とする東京都立高等学校。略称は「都立農高」。名称は「農業高等学校」だが全日制では家庭科、夜間定時制では普通科を併設している。

弁天島（べんてんじま）は、上野恩賜公園（東京都台東区）内の不忍池の中にある人工島である。

富士山縦覧場（ふじさんじゅうらんじょう）は、東京府東京市浅草区（現・東京都台東区浅草）の浅草公園第六区四号地にかつて存在した、富士山を模した木造建築物。明治時代に流行した、高所に見物客を登らせる見世物の一つとして、1887年（明治20年）に建設された。浅草富士、木製富士、木造富士、人造富士、仮富士、富士山模型などとも呼称される。

サウナセンターは、東京都台東区の鶯谷で営業するサウナ施設・カプセルホテル。2022年現在も営業する施設としては、東京都内で最も古いサウナ施設である。

蔵前JPテラス（くらまえジェイピーテラス）は、日本郵政不動産株式会社が開発した東京都台東区蔵前一丁目の大型複合開発街区である。「オフィス棟」「住宅棟」「物流棟」から構成される。オフィス棟は、トイレタリー用品メーカー大手のライオン株式会社が本社機能を置く「JPライオンビルディング」である。

東京北部小包集中局（とうきょうほくぶこづつみしゅうちゅうきょく）とは、東京都台東区清川にかつて存在した郵便局の一種である。
