The Saline River is a tributary of the Ohio River, approximately 27 miles (43 km) long, in the Southern Illinois region of the U.S. state of Illinois. The river drains a large section of southeast Illinois, with a drainage basin of 1,762 square miles (4,564 km2). The major tributaries include the South Fork, Middle Fork and North Fork, all lying within the Saline Valley. The once meandering swampy river was important among Native Americans and early settlers as a source of salt from numerous salt springs where it was commercially extracted in the early 19th century.

Union County High School is a secondary school located at 4464 US Highway 60 West just outside the city of Morganfield, Kentucky. It is part of the Union County Public Schools district located in Union County, Kentucky. The school opened in 1964 following the consolidation of Morganfield, Sturgis and in 1967, Morganfield St Vincent. It is now responsible for teaching approx. 700 students and is currently expanding its curriculum. The school experienced its highest academic gain ever in the 2008-2009 round of KCCT testing, this change set a recorded in the state for the Highest Academic Gain Ever.

Slack Farm (15 UN 28) is an archaeological site of the Caborn-Welborn variant of the Mississippian culture. Slack Farm is located near Uniontown, Kentucky close to the confluence of the Ohio River and the Wabash Rivers. The site included a Native American mound and an extensive village occupation dating between 1400–1650 CE. Although Slack Farm was long known to be one of the major villages of the Caborn-Welborn people, it became famous when it was very seriously damaged by looters in 1987.
