Clark County

Carr Township is one of twelve townships in Clark County, Indiana. As of the 2020 census, its population was 4,830 and it contained 1,794 housing units.

Clark State Forest, located just north of Henryville, Indiana in the United States, is Indiana's oldest state forest, formed in 1903 as a forest research facility and a nursery and later expanded by the Works Progress Administration. Originally 2,028 acres (8 km²) of total land area, it is now almost 24,000 acres (100 km²) and is bisected by Interstate 65. It features three trails used exclusively for hikers trails: two internal trails, and the 59-mile (95 km) Knobstone Trail. There are nine horse trails, and five miles (8 km) of mountain bike trails. Two nature preserves are also situated within the forest. The forest also contains a 100-yard (91 m) outdoor gun range.

The Colgate Clock, located at a former Colgate-Palmolive factory in Clarksville, Indiana, is one of the largest clocks in the world. It has a diameter of 40 feet (12 meters). It was first illuminated in Clarksville on November 17, 1924. It is located directly across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky.

Devil's Backbone is a rock formation and peninsula formed by the flow of Fourteen Mile Creek into the Ohio River, and is currently situated in Charlestown State Park near Charlestown, Indiana, and across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. According to local legend, on this bedrock ridge once stood a stone fortress that was built by Welsh explorers led by Prince Madoc sometime in the 12th century.

The Federal Audit Clearinghouse (FAC) is an office within the United States federal government. In compliance with the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-133 Revised, the FAC is in charge of receiving, processing and distributing to U.S. federal agencies the Single Audit reporting packages of thousands of recipients of federal assistance. OMB designated the U.S. Census Bureau to serve as the Federal Audit Clearinghouse. It operates and maintains an online database of Single Audit information submitted by recipients going back to 1997.

Fourteen Mile Creek, shown as Fourteenmile Creek on federal maps, is a 22.7-mile-long (36.5 km) creek in Clark County, Indiana, close to Charlestown. It is so named because its mouth on the Ohio River is 14 miles (23 km) upstream from the Falls of the Ohio; similar to how Eighteen Mile Island, Twelve Mile Island, and Six Mile Island got their names. It is navigable for 2.9 miles (4.7 km) from the Ohio River. It is a State Heritage Program Site and a popular canoe trail.

Oregon Township is one of twelve townships in Clark County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,769 and it contained 692 housing units.

Schimpff's Confectionery is a historic candy maker, confectionery store, and museum located in Jeffersonville, Indiana, within the Old Jeffersonville Historic District.

Silver Creek Township is one of twelve townships in Clark County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 11,858 and it contained 4,858 housing units.

The Spring Street Freight House is a historic freight house located at Jeffersonville, Indiana. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in May 2007, after being nominated by the Indiana Department of Transportation. It is one of the few railhouses built in the 1920s still standing.

Starve Hollow State Recreation Area is a state recreation area in Vallonia, Indiana. The 280-acre (110 ha) recreation area was created from part of the larger Jackson–Washington State Forest. The area offers fishing, swimming, hiking, and a nature center.

The Thomas Downs House is a historic home located just east of Charlestown, Indiana's town square. It was built about 1809 and is a two-story, four-bay, Federal style brick dwelling. It has a gable roof, sits on a stone foundation, and has a one-story rear ell. Thomas Downs was a politician from Charlestown that was Clark County's first county treasurer. He would later serve as an Indiana Territory legislator. It is owned by the Clark's Grant Historical Society, who has a museum there but offers tours by reservation only.

Union Township is one of twelve townships in Clark County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,507 and it contained 1,415 housing units.

WGTK (970 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Louisville, Kentucky. It is owned by the Word Media Group with the license held by the Word Broadcasting Network, Inc. It airs a conservative talk radio format, calling itself "970 The Answer", similar to many talk stations carrying the Salem Radio Network. Its studios and offices are on Corporate Campus Drive in Louisville.

WAYI (104.3 FM) is an American Christian adult contemporary radio station. The station is licensed to Charlestown, Indiana, serving the Louisville, Kentucky, radio market. The station is owned by WAY-FM Network

WLRS (1570 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station airing an oldies radio format. Licensed to New Albany, Indiana, it serves the Louisville metropolitan area. It is owned by New Albany Broadcasting Co., Inc. and operated by Pure Media Ministries, Inc.

WXVW (1450 AM) is a radio station licensed to Jeffersonville, Indiana, serving the Louisville, Kentucky, area. The station is currently owned by Word Broadcasting Network, Inc.

WAKY (620 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Louisville, Kentucky, that simulcasts a classic hits format with sister station WAKY-FM (103.5 MHz). It is owned by Wakyana LLC. WAKY-AM-FM carry University of Kentucky Wildcats football and basketball. The studios are on Ring Road in Elizabethtown.

The Grisamore House is a historic home located in downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana. It was built by two brothers from Philadelphia, David and Wilson Grisamore, in 1837. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, Federal style brick double house with Greek Revival style design elements. The front facade features three stucco-coated, two-story Doric order columns in antis and two projecting second story balconies. It has housed several important Jeffersonville families. For example, future president William Henry Harrison gave a speech on the front porch in 1840 while campaigning to become president.

Henryville Jr/Sr High School is located in Henryville, Indiana. It is part of the Borden–Henryville School Corporation.

Jefferson General Hospital was the third-largest hospital during the American Civil War, located at Port Fulton, Indiana (now part of Jeffersonville, Indiana) and was active between February 21, 1864, and December 1866. The land was owned by U.S. Senator from Indiana Jesse D. Bright. Bright was sympathetic to the Confederates, and was expelled from his position as Senator in 1862. Union authorities took the property without compensation, similar to what happened at Arlington National Cemetery.

Jeffersonville station refers to one of two former train stations in Jeffersonville, Indiana, United States. The first, a Pennsylvania Railroad station, operated beginning in 1929 and is currently preserved in a new location. The newer station was opened by Amtrak in 1999 as part of the Kentucky Cardinal service and closed in 2003 after that service was terminated.

John Work House and Mill Site is a site listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Indiana just outside Charlestown, owned by the Lincoln Heritage Council, (Scouting America), as part of the Tunnel Mill Scout Reservation. For a century, it was an active gristmill until technology made it obsolete, and arson destroyed much of it. Prominent features around the site are Fourteen Mile Creek and the Devil's Backbone. The land is now used by Scouting America for camping activities such as National Youth Leadership Training and a Webelos Camp. In 2010, part of the Tunnel Mill camp was leased to a private company for the purpose of restoring the Historic John Work House for use as a living history center. In order to prevent vandalism and amateur ghost hunters from further damaging the building, security guards patrol the property each night.

Rose Island is an abandoned amusement park near Charlestown, Indiana, situated on a peninsula (the "Devil's Backbone") created by Fourteen Mile Creek emptying into the Ohio River. It was a recreational area known as Fern Grove in the 1880s, mostly used as a church camp. It was so named due to the many ferns that grew there. The Louisville and Jeffersonville Ferry Company acquired it and developed it in order to increase the use of its ferry business. As Fern Grove it thrived on church picnics and family outings.

River Falls is a shopping center in Clarksville, Indiana, on Lewis and Clark Parkway (formerly State Road 131). From its opening in 1990 as River Falls Mall until 2006, it was an enclosed mall, with 762,000 square feet (70,800 m²) of gross leasable area. It originally comprised multiple entertainment venues and retail. After losing the majority of its tenants, River Falls was redeveloped in 2006 as a power center, comprising Dick's Sporting Goods, Old Time Pottery, Jo-Ann Fabrics, and Bass Pro Shops.

The Henry French House, also known as the Salmon-French House, is a historic house located in the Port Fulton area of Jeffersonville, Indiana, United States. It was built about 1832, and is a two-story, Federal style brick dwelling with a rear ell added about 1839 to form an I-house. It has some Colonial Revival style design elements.

The Indiana Army Ammunition Plant was an Army manufacturing plant built in 1941 between Charlestown and Jeffersonville, Indiana. It consisted of three areas within two separate but attached manufacturing plants:

The Prather Site (12CL4) is a Middle Mississippian culture archaeological site located in the Falls of the Ohio region in Clark County, Indiana. It was the principal ceremonial center of the Prather Complex, the northeasternmost regional variant of the Mississippian cultures. It also bordered on several Upper Mississippian cultures, including the Fort Ancient peoples of Southern Indiana, Southern Ohio and Northeastern Kentucky.

Jeffersonville Quartermaster Intermediate Depot (JQMD) was a military warehouse located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Originally covering four city blocks (the Quadrangle), it expanded to ten city blocks by the end of World War II.

The Old Clarksville site is along the waterfront of Clarksville, Indiana, roughly between the Interpretive Center and Clark Homesite of Falls of the Ohio State Park. Officially its address is restricted by the National Register, as much of it is on private property where there is no public access to the Ohio River.

Silver Creek is a stream in southern Indiana in the United States. It drains a watershed of 97,442 acres (394.33 km²). The creek rises in Scott County and flows 38.0 miles (61.2 km), dropping 168 feet (51 m), before flowing into the Ohio River.

Clarksville Community School Corporation is a public school system serving Clarksville, Indiana. The current enrollment is approximately 1,364 students at three schools. The current superintendent is Tina Bennett.

Warder Park is located in Jeffersonville, Indiana on Court Avenue. This park has been a part of the community since the mid-19th century, when it had a bakery to produce hardtack to Union soldiers during the American Civil War. The park wasn't established officially until the year 1881 and is named after then Mayor Luther Warder. Warder had wanted the site for a new city hall, but the city council chose a site between Spring and Pearl on the north side of Market Street for the city hall, and named the park after Warder as a gesture of goodwill. A Carnegie Library was built in 1903.

Washington Township is one of twelve townships in Clark County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,702 and it contained 744 housing units.

The Watson House, also known as the Coombs House, is a historic home located just east of Charlestown, Indiana's town square. It was built about 1900, and is a two-story, rectangular frame dwelling with Queen Anne and Colonial Revival style design elements. It features a full-width front porch supported by slender columns. Originally located on the site was the James Bigger-built Green Tree Tavern (1812), where Jonathan Jennings, the first governor of Indiana, was given an Inaugural Ball in 1816.

West Clark Community Schools was a school district serving students in the western half of Clark County, Indiana, United States. It consisted of three high schools, Silver Creek High School, William W. Borden High School, and Henryville jr/sr High School, along with their various middle and elementary feeders.

Monroe Township is one of twelve townships in Clark County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 5,402 and it contained 2,125 housing units.

Wood Township is one of twelve townships in Clark County, Indiana. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,747 and it contained 1,148 housing units.

Memphis is a census-designated place (CDP) in Union Township, Clark County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,077 at the 2020 census.

New Washington Junior-Senior High School is a middle school and high school located in New Washington, Indiana. To current knowledge, and alumni testimony, Senior-Grade Students are permitted to take their lunches separately from other grades on the balcony bleachers in one of the two (modestly accommodating) gymnasiums. In 2018 there was an incident where a seat in the balcony bleachers was damaged, almost resulting in Senior Students losing balcony privileges over a miscommunication. This miscommunication was the Principal at the time Mrs. Carla Hobson presuming students would not report such an incident when in fact two students went to the front office immediately.

The Abbott–Holloway Farm contains a couple of the few early structures still standing in Bethlehem, Indiana, located in the extreme northeast section of Clark County, Indiana. It overlooks the Ohio River.

The Benjamin Ferguson House is a historic home located in the southwest of Charlestown, Indiana. It was built by Ferguson in 1816, and is a two-story, Federal style brick dwelling with a one-story rear wing. Also on the property is a contributing shed with fruit cellar and the original well.

The Borden Institute was located in Borden, Indiana. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 but removed in 1986. William W. Borden established the school in 1884 to serve the children of local farmers. The education "was a creative institution of unusual distinction" in the way it prepared its students to teach and to conduct scientific laboratory studies. Students of the school have said there were very few regulations.

The Bottorff–McCulloch Farm is a historic home and farm located in Charlestown Township, Clark County, Indiana. The farmhouse was built about 1835, and is a two-story, Greek Revival style brick dwelling. It has a gable roof and sits on a coursed stone foundation. It features a one-story portico. Also on the property are the contributing summer kitchen, two English barns, a three-portal barn, two silos, and a milk house.

Camp Joe Holt was a Union base during the American Civil War in Jeffersonville, Indiana, across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky, on land that is now part of Clarksville, Indiana, near the Big Eddy. It was a major staging area for troops in the Western Theatre of the War, in preparation for invading the Confederate States of America. Its establishment was the first major step performed by Kentucky Unionists to keep Kentucky from seceding to the Confederacy.

Indiana Uplands is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) encompassing much of the Indiana Uplands landform located in south-central Indiana. Its southern and eastern boundaries border the established multi-state Ohio River Valley AVA. The area was established on February 4, 2013, by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Treasury after reviewing the petition submitted by Jim L. Butler, president of Butler Winery of Bloomington, Indiana, on behalf of himself and local vintners, proposing the viticultural area to be named "Indiana Uplands."
