Nuffield Speech and Language Unit was an internationally recognised centre of excellence for providing intensive therapy to children with severe speech and language disorders such as Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia, dysarthria, and oral dyspraxia. The centre was located in Ealing, West London and was administered by the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust in collaboration with Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital. Nuffield specialized in helping children between ages four and seven overcome difficulties caused by dyspraxia and had a capacity for fourteen students. Many of the students would not have succeeded in the mainstream education system. Nuffield was closed in 2011 after the board of trustees decided the under-capacity centre was not financially viable.

Down Barns Moated Site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument in Northolt in the London Borough of Ealing. It is the site of a medieval manor house, which does not survive, but the moat does. It was probably in existence by 1388, and is thought to have been abandoned in the sixteenth century. Excavations were undertaken in the 1950s and 1960s, but the results are not known. Pottery previously excavated here was originally identified as Saxon, but now thought to be prehistoric.

St Thomas Syriac Orthodox Cathedral Acton is a Syriac Orthodox Cathedral in Acton, London, England, formerly known as St Saviour's Centre for the Deaf Anglican church, which was a social centre for deaf people, and the first and only purpose-built church for deaf people as such. St Saviour's was the central location for the London Diocesan Chaplaincy among Deaf and Deafblind people. The church and social centre closed in 2014 following a loss of funding, and insufficient financial reserves to maintain the premises. The final church service was held on Wednesday 24 September 2014, at which the Bishop of Willesden officiated.

The Hermitage is a cottage orné in Hanwell, London built by rector George Glasse in 1809 on the site of a previous house called the Elms. Nikolaus Pevsner described the house as "a peach of an early c19 Gothic thatched cottage with two pointed windows, a quatrefoil, and an ogee arched door, all on a minute scale. The Ealing rail crash was an accident on the British railway system that occurred on 19 December 1973. The 17:18 express train from London Paddington to Oxford—with approximately 650 passengers on board—was derailed while travelling at around 70 mph (110 km/h) between Ealing Broadway and West Ealing. Ten passengers were killed and 94 were injured, and it was Britain's deadliest train crash of the decade until the Moorgate tube crash which killed 45. The cause of the accident was an unsecured maintenance door that had fallen open whilst the train was travelling, after having struck several lineside objects, it struck a points machine at Longfield Avenue, derailing the entire train.

The murder of Jean Bradley was the apparently motiveless stabbing of a woman in Acton, London on 25 March 1993. The case made headline news at the time due to a dramatic chase of the killer by a witness and since it was the second unexplained stabbing of a woman in west London in the early 1990s following the murder of Penny Bell in 1991.
The Dormers Wells High School shooting was a mass shooting that occurred during a Sikh prayer meeting on the night of 11 November 1987 at the aforementioned school in Southall, London, England. Rajinder Singh Batth and Mangit Singh Sunder, two orthodox Sikhs, opened fire on preacher Mahraz Darshan Das and then the congregation, killing three men and wounding one other. They were then subdued and treated for minor injuries at the hospital. In March 1989, both were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and manslaughter, and have since been released.
