Autonomous Monastic State of the Holy Mountain

Pantokratoros Monastery (Greek: Μονή Παντοκράτορος) is a Greek Orthodox monastery in the monastic state of Mount Athos in Greece. It stands on the north-eastern side of the Athos peninsula, and is dedicated to the Transfiguration of Our Lord. The monastery ranks seventh in the hierarchy of the Athonite monasteries.

The Kastamonitou Monastery (Greek: Μονή Κασταμονίτου), officially called Konstamonitou Monastery (Μονή Κωνσταμονίτου), is an Orthodox Christian monastery in the monastic state of Mount Athos in Greece. It stands on the southeastern side of the Athos peninsula. The monastery ranks twentieth and last in the hierarchy of the Athonite monasteries.

Apollonia (Greek: Ἀπολλωνία) was an ancient town in the peninsula of Acte, or Mount Athos in Macedonia, the inhabitants of which were called Macrobii. Homer mentions Athos in the Iliad (Rhapsody 219) and, in connection to Mount Athos, Gaius Plinius Secundus (the ancient historian and Roman commander also known as Pliny the Elder), refers to the cities of Ouranoupolis, Palaiotrion, Thysson, Kleonas, and Apollonia.

Vigla (Greek: Βίγλα) is a settlement in Mount Athos. It is located at the southeastern edge of the Athos peninsula.

The Amalfinon Monastery (Greek: Μονή των Αμαλφηνών) or Amalfion was the most prominent of the three former monasteries for Latin-speaking Christians on Mount Athos before the Great Schism. Sometimes described one of the first examples of Western Rite Orthodoxy after the events of 1054, its affiliation with either Eastern Orthodox Church or the Catholic Church has been subject of debate. It was located halfway between the Athonite monasteries of Great Lavra and Karakallou Monastery.

Lakkoskiti (Greek: Σκήτη Αγίου Δημητρίου or Λακκοσκήτη, Romanian: Schitul Lacu) is the short form name of a small "monastic village" of not more than 15 "huts" (houses) consisting the idiorrhythmic "skete of Agiou Dimitriou tou Lakkou". It is situated in the north foothills of Mount Athos, in Greece, in the Morfonou River valley and surrounded by a forest of chestnut trees. The summit of Antiathonas (1042 m) is located just to the southwest of the skete. Lakkoskiti is inhabited by Romanian monks.

Karoulia (Greek: Καρούλια, lit. 'pulley') is an Eastern Orthodox skete of the community of Mount Athos that is subordinate to the Great Lavra. It is located on the southernmost shore of Mount Athos.

The Desert of Mount Athos or Wilderness of Mount Athos (Greek: Έρημος του Αγίου Όρους, romanized: Eremos tou Agiou Oros) is a geographical area of Mount Athos that corresponds to the southern slopes of Mount Athos. Located along the southernmost coast of the Athos peninsula, it stretches roughly from Katounakia in the west to Vigla in the east. The Desert of Mount Athos has been a center of Christian asceticism and hesychasm for over 1,000 years.^: 64

Vouleftiria (Greek: Βουλευτήρια) is an area of Mount Athos that belongs to the Monastery of Great Lavra. Located directly downhill from the main area of the Skete of Saint Anne, it is served by the port (arsanas) of Saint Anne (Agia Anna) (Greek: Aρσανάς Αγίας Άννας, romanized: Arsanas Agias Annas). There are several kellia in Vouleftiria.

Cleonae or Cleonæ or Kleonai (Ancient Greek: Κλεωναί) was an ancient city on the Acte or Akte (Ακτή) peninsula (now Mount Athos), the easternmost of the three peninsulas forming the ancient Chalcidice, on its western coast, south of Thyssus (Thyssos). Thucydides says that among the cities of the peninsula, Sane was colony of Andros, while Thyssus, Cleonae, Acrothoum, Olophyxus and Dium had a heterogeneous population of bilingual barbarians formed by a few Chalcidians and, the rest, Pelasgians, Bisaltians, Crestonians and Edoni. Strabo points out that its primitive populated was composed of Pelasgians from Lemnos. According to Strabo, it was colonized by Euboean colonists from Chalcis. Heraclides Lembus also writes that Chalcidians settled there. It was a member of the Delian League as it appears on the tribute lists to Athens during the Peloponnesian War.

Thyssus or Thyssos (Ancient Greek: Θύσσος) was a town of Chalcidice in ancient Macedon, situated on the west or south side of the peninsula of Acte or Akte (Ακτή) peninsula (now Mount Athos), the easternmost of the three peninsulas forming the ancient Chalcidice, on its western coast, north of Cleonae. Thucydides says that among the cities of the aforementioned peninsula, Sane was colony of Andros, while Thyssus, Cleonae, Acrothoum, Olophyxus and Dium had a heterogeneous population of bilingual barbarians formed by a few Chalcidians and, the rest, Pelasgians, Bisaltians, Crestonians and Edoni. Strabo points out that its primitive populated was composed of Pelasgians from Lemnos. Pseudo Scylax writes that it was a Greek city.

The Skete of the Annunciation of the Theotokos (Greek: Σκήτη Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου) is a skete of the Monastery of Xenophontos, on Mount Athos, Greece.

The Skete of Saint Andrew, also the Skete of Apostle Andrew and Great Anthony or Skiti Agiou Andrea in Karyes is a monastic institution (skete) on Mount Athos. It is a dependency of Vatopedi Monastery and is the site of the Athonias Ecclesiastical Academy.

Morfonou (Greek: Μορφονού) is an area of Mount Athos that belongs to the Monastery of Great Lavra. Located on the eastern side of the Athos peninsula, it is served by a ferry port.

Katounakia (Greek: Σκήτη Κατουνάκια) is an Eastern Orthodox skete of the community of Mount Athos that is subordinate to the Great Lavra. The skete is located between Little Saint Anne's Skete and Karoulia. The skete consists of 22 cells in which about 35 monks live. The cell of Danieleon, which employs some of the best icon painters at Mount Athos, is located in the skete.

Little St. Anne's Skete or the Minor Skete of St. Anne (Greek: Σκήτη μικρή Αγία Άννα, romanized: Skiti Mikri Agia Anna) is an Orthodox skete on Mount Athos, Greece.

The Hermitage of Agios Vasileios (Greek: Ησυχαστήριο Άγιος Βασίλειος), also sometimes referred to as the Skete of St. Basil (Greek: Σκήτη Αγίου Βασιλείου), is an Orthodox skete on Mount Athos.

New Skete or Nea Skiti (Greek: Νέα Σκήτη or Σκήτη Εισοδίων της Θεοτόκου ή Νέα Σκήτη) is one of two Orthodox Christian sketes of Agiou Pavlou Monastery in the monastic state of Mount Athos. It lies on the Aegean sea shore between Agiou Pavlou Monastery (monastery of Saint Paul) and the Skete of Saint Anne, on the southwestern side of the peninsula of Athos (a 30-minute walk from Agiou Pavlou). It belongs administratively to the Skete of Saint Anne.

Thucydides says that among the cities of the aforementioned peninsula, Sane was colony of Andros, while Thyssus, Cleonae, Acrothoum, Olophyxus and Dium had a heterogeneous population of bilingual barbarians formed by a few Chalcidians and, the rest, Pelasgians, Bisaltians, Crestonians and Edoni. Strabo points out that its primitive populated was composed of Pelasgians from Lemnos. It was stated by Pomponius Mela and other ancient writers that the inhabitants of the town lived longer than ordinary men.

The Skete of Saint Panteleimon or Skete of Agiou Panteleimonos, not to be confused with the monastery of the same name, some kilometres away, is a skete of the Koutloumousiou monastery in Mount Athos, Greece. The skete is one of only a handful of Idiorrhythmic monasteries in the world.

Bogoroditsa (Greek: Σκήτη Βογορόδιτσας) is a skete (smaller, dependent monastic house) of the Agiou Panteleimonos monastery (Monastery of St. Panteleimon) in the monastic state of Mount Athos, Greece.

Dium or Dion (Ancient Greek: Δῖον) was a city on the Acte or Akte (Ακτή) peninsula (now Mount Athos), the easternmost of the three peninsulas forming the ancient Chalcidice, on its northeastern coast, north of Olophyxus. Thucydides says that among the cities of the peninsula, Sane was colony of Andros, while Thyssus, Cleonae, Acrothoum, Olophyxus and Dium had a heterogeneous population of bilingual barbarians formed by a few Chalcidians and, the rest, Pelasgians, Bisaltians, Crestonians and Edoni. Strabo says that its primitive population was composed of Pelasgians from Lemnos. Pseudo Scylax writes that it was a Greek city. It was the closest city to the isthmus of the peninsula.

Ο ναός της Παναγίας Κουζελιώτισσας βρίσκεται εντός του περιβόλου της Μονής Μεγίστης Λαύρας του Αγίου Όρους, λίγα μέτρα από την κεντρική πύλη της, το πρώτο κτήριο που συναντά κανείς μόλις περάσει τη βαριά ξύλινη πόρτα. Είναι αφιερωμένος στα Εισόδια της Θεοτόκου και θεωρείται ως το δεύτερο καθολικό της μονής, ενώ είναι γνωστός και ως ναός της Πορτάρισσας ή της Οικονόμισσας ή της Κουκουζέλισσας.

Στη Μονή Ιβήρων ανήκει η Σκήτη Τιμίου Προδρόμου, που απλώνεται σε πλαγιά δυτικά της μονής και σε απόσταση μισής ώρας από αυτήν μέσα από δασικό δρόμο. Έχει μορφή οικισμού με καλύβες και Κυριακό και είναι ιδιόρρυθμη. Δεν είναι εξακριβωμένη η χρονολογία της συγκρότησης του οικισμού σε σκήτη. Σαν οικισμός ήταν ανεπτυγμένος τουλάχιστον από την πρώτη δεκαετία του 16ου αιώνα.

Η Σκήτη του Αγίου Δημητρίου απέχει γύρω στη μία ώρα νοτιοδυτικά της Μονής Βατοπεδίου, στην οποία και υπάγεται. Το καθολικό της είναι αφιερωμένο στον Άγιο Δημήτριο. Είναι σε μορφή οικισμού. Στη θέση της Σκήτης ήταν πιθανότατα η παλαιά μονή του Χαλκέως. Οργανώθηκε ως Σκήτη το 18ο αιώνα. Οι καλύβες της Σκήτης του Αγίου Δημητρίου είναι είκοσι μία. Οι περισσότερες από αυτές είναι σήμερα ερειπωμένες.

Крумица (на гръцки: Μετόχι Χουρμίτσας) е бивш руски православен скит на Света гора, подчинен на руския манастир „Свети Пантелеймон“, сега със статут на метох на манастира. Понастоящем има голямо стопанство с лозя, маслинови и овощни градини и др.

Το Ησυχαστήριο της αδελφότητας των Δανιηλαίων είναι περιοχή στην έρημο του Αγίου Όρους που υπάγεται στη Μονή Μεγίστης Λαύρας και στην οποία βρίσκονται τα ησυχαστήριά της. Βρίσκεται στα Κατουνάκια.
