Ripshin Farm, also known as the Sherwood Anderson Farm is a historic farm property at the junction of Routes 603 and 732 near Troutdale, Virginia. It was developed as a summer home and later year-round home by writer Sherwood Anderson (1876–1941), and is where he wrote most of his later works. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971.

The Old Grayson County Courthouse and Clerk's Office is a historic county courthouse located at Galax, Grayson County, Virginia. The Old Grayson County Courthouse was built in 1834, and consists of a two-story central block with flanking two-story wings and a one-story addition on the rear north side which was built in the 1870s and expanded in 1988. The Old clerk's Office, built in 1810, is a simple one-room brick structure. In 1850 the county seat moved to its present location in Independence, and the courthouse was subsequently used as a private residence, as a hotel, an apartment house, and a hay barn.

Eastern Air Lines Flight 665 was a domestic airline flight, on January 12, 1947, using a Douglas C-49-DO, which deviated from its course during a rainstorm, struck high ground a few miles west of Galax, Virginia, and burned, killing all but one of the 19 aboard.
Big Spring Bog Natural Area Preserve is a 50-acre (20 ha) Natural Area Preserve located in Grayson County, Virginia. The terrain is hilly, and within its borders is Chestnut Creek, a tributary of the New River. The preserve features a rare wetland known as a "cranberry glade".
Grayson Glades Natural Area Preserve is a 53-acre (21 ha) Natural Area Preserve located in Grayson County, Virginia. Its centerpiece is an extremely rare wetland type known as a "mafic fen", which are situated upon soils rich in magnesium and fed by springs. The site is at the headwaters of a small stream system supporting additional mafic fens.
Fries Boarding Houses are two historic boarding houses located at Fries, Grayson County, Virginia. They were built as twins, and are large two-story frame buildings resting on full-height stuccoed brick basements in the Colonial Revival style. They have side-gable roofs, brick interior end chimneys, and gabled dormers. The exact date of the boarding houses is unknown, but they likely date to the first phase of village construction between 1901 and 1910.

Brookside Farm and Mill is a historic grist mill and farm complex located at Independence, Grayson County, Virginia. The Brookside Mill was built in 1876, and is a three-story, three-bay by three bay, heavy timber frame building measuring 30 feet by 35 feet. The principal dwelling was built in 1877, and is a two-story, three-bay, frame building with a central passage plan. Other contributing buildings and structures include a brick spring house, brick smokehouse, log corn crib, frame hen house (c. 1910-1912), miller's cabin (c. 1880), the miller's cottage or Graham House (c. 1900), a frame service station / garage (1918), and concrete dam (1914) and earthen mill race.
