Kiltartan (Irish: Cill Tartan) is a barony and civil parish in County Galway, Ireland. The southern portion of this barony was formerly known as Cenél Áeda na hEchtge or O'Shaughnessy's Country, the northern portion was called Coill Ua bhFiachrach (the territory of the Hynes clan) and the eastern part was called Oireacht Réamoinn (Mac Redmonds clan, a branch of the Burkes). The aircraft was controlled by autopilot for >99% of the flight in a manner similar to that used by the Insitu Aerosonde UAV "Laima" that crossed the Atlantic in 1998. The flight used 99.2% of its fuel and left only 1.5 US fluid ounces (44 ml) (or 44 minutes of flight time) remaining when it reached its destination.

Joseph Huddy was the bailiff for Arthur Guinness, Lord Ardilaun, a wealthy Anglo-Irish landlord in a region where the Land War was growing more and more heated.
