Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone (simplified Chinese: 前海深港现代服务业合作区; traditional Chinese: 前海深港現代服務業合作區; pinyin: Qiánhǎi Shēngǎng Xiàndài Fúwùyè Hézuòqū) is a commercial development in Shenzhen, Guangdong that is also known as Qianhai New District. Located in Nanshan District and encircled by the Shuangjie River, Yueliangwan Boulevard, Mawan Boulevard and Qianhai Bay, Qianhai covers an area of approximately 15 square kilometres (5.8 sq mi), comprising almost entirely reclaimed land. As of 2024, its GDP exceeded RMB 300 billion (8.6% YoY growth), and total trade reached RMB 706.65 billion (+42.4% YoY).
The Nanshan Mountains or Nanshan are a set of mountains in Shenzhen. The largest of them are the 336-meter (1,102 ft) Dananshan (大南山) and the 150-meter (490 ft) Xiaonanshan (小南山). They are located at the southern tip of Nanshan District, itself named after the mountains.With the Nanshan urban core at its north, Qianhai at its west and Shekou at its southeast, it is amongst the only greenery spaces in the southern half of the district. From the top of Dananshan views can reach west to Nei Lingding Island, east to Futian Central Business District and south to Yuen Long, Hong Kong across Shenzhen Bay.

Overseas Chinese Town (OCT, simplified Chinese: 华侨城; traditional Chinese: 華僑城; pinyin: huáqiáo chéng; Jyutping: Waa4 Kiu4 Sing4) is the colloquial name for a cluster of scenic spots in Nanshan District of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, around the Window of the World Station, Overseas Chinese Town Station, Qiaocheng East Station and Qiaocheng North Station of the Luobao Line (Line 1) and Shekou Line (Line 2) of Shenzhen Metro. In the future, Meilin Line (Line 9) will also pass this area and serve OCT Harbour (OCT Bay) and the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. It is classified as an AAAAA scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration.
Dasha River (Chinese: 大沙河; pinyin: Dàshāhé) is a river in southwestern Shenzhen in Guangdong, China. It is 18.8 kilometres (11.7 mi) long and drains an area of 90.69 square kilometres (35.02 sq mi). The Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL or PKUSTL) (Chinese: 北京大学国际法学院) is located within the campus of the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. The school's inaugural class started in the fall of 2008. It is the first law school to offer a traditional US-style Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree (in English) alongside a Chinese-style Juris Master (J.M.) degree (in Mandarin). Sea World Culture and Arts Center is a waterfront situated multi-use culture and arts center within the greater Sea World development in Shekou, Shenzhen, China. The project is a joint venture between the state owned China Merchants Group and Great Britain's Victoria and Albert Museum. It is designed by the Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki. Completed in 2017 the structure is built in two parts. The first part the "sculptural podium" contains the museum and retail stores and the second made up of "three cantilevered volumes' houses a theater, a restaurant and a "multi purpose hall".

Andaz Shenzhen Bay (Chinese: 深圳湾安达仕酒店) is a mixed-use 246 metres (807.1 ft) tall skyscraper in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The tower is near multiple supertall skyscrapers such as the China Resources Headquarters and the One Shenzhen Bay. Construction started in 2015 and was completed in 2021.
On 18 September 2024, a Chinese man stabbed a ten-year-old Japanese schoolboy with a knife near the Shenzhen Japanese School in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. The alleged attacker, a 44-year-old man surnamed Zhong, was arrested, while the boy died of injuries on the next day. Violence targeting foreigners in China had been occurring previously in 2024, prompting some observers to express concern that nationalist sentiment may have contributed to these incidents. Zhong was later sentenced to death and executed.
