The Inishkea Islands (Irish: Inis Cé) are situated off the coast of the Belmullet peninsula in County Mayo in Ireland. They are believed to be named after a saint that lived there, called Saint Kea. There are two main islands – Inishkea North and Inishkea South.
Carrowmore Lake (Irish: Loch na Ceathrún Móire) is situated in the parishes of Belmullet, Kiltane and Kilcommon Erris, County Mayo between the villages of Bangor Erris and Barnatra at the southern end of Broadhaven Bay. The freshwater lake is over 4 miles (6 km) long and almost 3 miles (5 km) wide at its widest point. Glencullen's two townlands line its eastern shore and Rathmorgan and the Knocknascollop mountains rise up along its western shores. Carrowmore is not a deep lake and it provides the drinking water for the whole of the Erris area. It is fed by the Carrowmore River and drains into the Owenmore River on its way to Blacksod Bay. The lake is designated as a S.P.A. (Birds directive) in E.U. law and also as 000476 Complex S.A.C. (Special Area of Conservation).
Erris Head (Irish: Ceann Iorrais) is a promontory at the northernmost tip of the Mullet Peninsula, located in the barony of Erris in northwest County Mayo, Ireland. It is a well known and recognised landmark used by mariners and weather forecasters, and is also a scenic viewpoint, with an unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean and steep rocky cliffs. It is not served by any road and can only be reached by crossing a number of fields.
Duvillaun (English: Black Island; Irish: Dubhoileán) is the name of a cluster of islands lying south to the Inishkea Islands and Inishglora in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North Mayo. The main island is known as Duvillaun More (Big Black Island). The other islands are known as Duvillaun Beg (Little Black Island), Turduvillaun, Shiraghy, Keely, Gaghta, and Leamareha.
Glenamoy (Irish: Gleann na Muaidhe) is a village in the civil parish of Kilcommon, Erris in the northern part of County Mayo in Ireland. The R314 road passes through Glenamoy.
Glencullen or Glencullin (Irish: Gleann Chuilinn, meaning 'glen of the holly') is a rural area which spans two townlands in the parish of Kiltane in County Mayo, Ireland. It lies to the north of Bangor Erris, next to the parish of Kilcommon, Erris, and the Bangor to Kilcommon road runs through the area. The two constituent townlands, Glencullen Lower and Glencullen Upper, are located in an area of blanket bog and extend across approximately 2,125 acres and 2,780 acres respectively.

In the early hours of 14 March 2017, a Sikorsky S-92 helicopter operated by CHC Helicopter under contract to the Irish Coast Guard (call sign Rescue 116) crashed into the sea while supporting a rescue operation off County Mayo, on Ireland's west coast. All four crew members on board, Captain Dara Fitzpatrick, Chief Pilot Mark Duffy, winch operator Paul Ormsby, and winch man Ciarán Smith were killed.

Pullathomas (Irish: Poll an tSómais; also known as Kilcommon, Pollatomais, Pollatomish and Pollathomas, meaning "hollow of comfort") is a Gaeltacht village and townland in northwest County Mayo, Ireland. In the barony of Erris and parish of Kilcommon, it lies close to the mouth of Broadhaven Bay next to Sruwaddacon Bay. Pullathomas townland has an area of approximately 685.6 acres (2.8 km2) and, as of 2011, had a population of 100 people.
