The 2002 IAAF World Cross Country Championships took place on March 23/24, 2002. The races were held at the Leopardstown Racecourse, Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, near Dublin, Ireland. Reports of the event were given in The New York Times, in the Herald, and for the IAAF.

It lies on Ireland's east coast, 3.5 km (2.2 mi) south of Bray and 24 km (15 mi) south of Dublin city centre and has a population of 22,009, according to the 2022 census. The town is bordered by the Irish Sea to the east, Bray Head to the north and the Wicklow Mountains to the west. It is the second largest town in County Wicklow (after Bray).

It contains an early religious site, which is a National Monument. The area, sometimes described as a twin of, and sometimes as part of, Deansgrange, is 5 miles southeast of Dublin.

Saint David's Holy Faith Secondary School is a co-educational secondary school in Greystones, County Wicklow, Ireland. Originally established in 1906 as an all-girls boarding school by the Holy Faith Sisters, it was the only secondary school in Greystones until 2014. By 2015, Saint David's school was operating under the patronage of the Le Chéile Schools Trust. As of December 2024, the school had an enrollment of approximately 750 pupils.

The 39th Curtis Cup Match was played from 10 to 12 June 2016 at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club near Enniskerry, Ireland. Great Britain and Ireland won 111⁄2 to 81⁄2. Bronte Law became the first golfer from Great Britain and Ireland to win 5 matches in a Curtis Cup match, a feat only previously achieved by Stacy Lewis in 2008.

Heron and Grey was a restaurant in Blackrock, County Dublin, Ireland. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star for 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Dorchester Missionary College, also known as the Dorchester College of St Peter and St Paul for Foreign Missions was a theological college in Dorchester, Oxfordshire. The college was established in 1878 to train Anglican clergy to serve in the Church of England overseas, and by 1903 was an associated theological college of Durham University. It closed in 1944 due to the recommendation by the Archbishops' commission to end missionary colleges.

The R117 road is a regional road in Ireland. The route (north-south) starts Harcourt Road at the end of the South Circular Road on the southside of Dublin city centre. It crosses the Grand Canal and goes through the suburbs of Ranelagh, Milltown, Windy Arbour, Dundrum, Sandyford, Stepaside and Kilternan (where it crosses the R116) before passing through the Scalp into County Wicklow.

Avoca Hockey Club (Irish: Cumann Haca Abhóca) is a field hockey club based at Newpark Comprehensive School in Blackrock, Dublin. The club was originally founded in 1895 and a women's team was added in 1973. Avoca enters various men's and women's teams in junior, senior and veterans leagues and cup competitions affiliated to the Leinster Hockey Association. Avoca men have won both the Men's Irish Senior Cup and the Men's Irish Junior Cup. Avoca Women won the Irish Hockey Trophy in 2022. The club has also represented Ireland in European competitions, finishing third in the 1993 EuroHockey Club Trophy.

Cabinteely Football Club (Irish: Cumann Peile Cábán tSíle) is an association football club based in Cabinteely, County Dublin, Ireland comprising adult and many youth under-age teams for both males and females, 60 teams in all. Cabinteely competed in the League of Ireland First Division from 2015 to 2021 after being granted a licence by the Football Association of Ireland in January 2015. They made their debut in the League of Ireland First Division on 6 March 2015 and play their games at Stradbrook Road, the home of Blackrock College RFC.

Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Carlisle Pier were constructed in the nineteenth century for the purposes of sheltering ships and accommodating the mailboat which sailed between Dún Laoghaire and Holyhead. The nearby settlement of Dún Laoghaire has also previously been known as Kingstown and also as Dun Leary. Carlisle Pier has been known previously as Kingston Pier and the Mailboat Pier.

Carrickbrennan Churchyard (Irish: Reilig Charraig Bhraonáin) located on Carrickbrennan Road, Monkstown, Dublin, Ireland is a graveyard that can still be seen today, but is no longer in use. It is notable as the burial place of many people who perished in local maritime disasters. The graveyard stands beside the grounds of Monkstown Park, former estate of Lord Ranelagh and latterly the historian Charles Haliday, now used as rugby pitches by CBC Monkstown Park.

Carrickgollogan (Irish: Carraig Uallacháin, meaning 'rock of Uallachán') is a hill in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown in Ireland, towards the southern border of the traditional County Dublin. It is 276 metres (906 feet) high, on the eastern edge of the Dublin Mountains, rising above the districts of Rathmichael and Shankill. Its summit is noted for the panoramic views it offers of south Dublin and north Wicklow.

Carriglea Park was an industrial school in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. The Christian Brothers purchased the property in 1893.

The Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII), An Institiúid Éireannach um Chosaint Raideolaíoch, was an independent public body in Ireland under the aegis of the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment. The RPII was established in 1992 under the Radiological Protection Act 1991, which conferred on the RPII a broad remit in relation to radiological protection in Ireland. The RPII was merged with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in August 2014, as part of the Irish Government's Public Sector Reform Plan. RPII's functions are now carried out by the Office of Radiation Protection and Environmental Monitoring within the EPA.

The Royal Irish Yacht Club is a yacht club located in Dún Laoghaire Harbour, County Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1831, with the Marquess of Anglesey, who commanded the cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo being its first Commodore. John Skipton Mulvany designed the clubhouse, which still retains a number of original architectural features since being opened in 1851.

Seapoint (Irish: Rinn na Mara) is a small seafront area between Blackrock and Monkstown in Dublin in the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown area. It is best known for its beach and bathing areas, beside a Martello Tower on the Dublin Bay seashore. The beach currently has an International Blue flag award and a national Green flag award.

St. Helen's is a period house built in the early 1750s and located in Booterstown, County Dublin, Ireland. It is operated as a five-star hotel by the Scally Hotel Collection and is owned by the Scally Family. It had some notable owners such as the Hugh Gough, 1st Viscount Gough, Sir John Nutting and the Congregation of Christian Brothers. The building displays the motto "Mors Potior Macula", meaning "Death rather than infamy".

Whitechurch (Irish: An Teampall Geal) is a small suburban area on the southside of Dublin, in the local government area of South Dublin. It is situated south of Ballyboden, east of Edmondstown and west of Marlay Park. The greater part of the area lies north of the M50 semi-orbital motorway, with some remote parts merging into the mountainous districts of Tibradden and Kilmashogue south of the road, all at the foot of the Dublin mountains. Whitechurch is part of the greater Rathfarnham area. Whitechurch is also the name of a townland and civil parish.

The Bray boxing club shooting happened in Bray, Ireland on 5 June 2018. Three men were shot, one of them being fatally injured. One of the survivors was Pete Taylor, father of Katie Taylor.

The Ballyman Glen (Irish: Gleann Bhaile Mhaine) Special Area of Conservation or SAC is a Natura 2000 site in County Wicklow and County Dublin, close to the town of Bray, County Wicklow in County Wicklow, Ireland. It qualifies as an SAC due to the presence of two ecological habitat types - petrifying springs with tufa formation (Cratoneurion) and alkaline fens.

The Glencullen River (Irish: Abhainn Ghleann Cuilinn), often the Cookstown River (Irish: An Chlóideach) below Enniskerry, is a watercourse of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown (in southern County Dublin) and northern County Wicklow. It is about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long; it passes the nature reserve of Knocksink Wood and the village of Enniskerry, and joins the River Dargle near Bray. The river is in the jurisdictions of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown and Wicklow County Councils, as well as within the purview of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Airfield Estate is a agritourism site in Dublin, Ireland. Describing itself as "Dublin's only urban working farm and gardens," it incorporates Airfield House, an Anglo-Irish big house, and welcomes visitors to learn about farming and the site's history. As of 2016, it had 75 employees and 280,000 annual visitors.

The Masonic Boys School (sometimes Masonic Orphan Boys School) was a school in Dublin, Ireland which was originally established for the sons of deceased, or financially distressed, freemasons. It was directly supported by the Brethren of the Masonic Order and was in existence from 1867 until 1981.

Dingle Glen (Irish: An Fhothair) is a steep-sided and V-shaped valley "gash", or glen, extending for 550-metres through the bedrock of the lowlands of the Dublin Mountains, located between Carrickmines and Kilternan. In an ecological impact assessment for a proposed development nearby, Dingle Glen was categorised as "a secluded mature broadleaf woodland, mixed with rocky outcrops, within a glacier meltwater channel, thus providing a diversity of habitats within a small undisturbed area".

Our Lady of Mercy College, Carysfort (commonly known as Carysfort College) was a College of Education in Dublin, Ireland from its foundation in 1877 until its closure in 1988. Educating primary school teachers, and located in a parkland campus in Blackrock, it was a recognised college of the National University of Ireland from April 1975. The site is now the premises of the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, part of University College Dublin.

Coláiste Eoin is a Catholic voluntary Gaelcholáiste (Irish language secondary school) for boys, under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, in Booterstown, County Dublin, Ireland. It has hurling and Gaelic football teams, traditional Irish music bands, and Irish language debating teams. The school is financed by resources from the Department of Education and voluntary donations.

Complex and Adaptive Systems Laboratory (CASL) is an interdisciplinary research institute in University College Dublin. It is formed around four research clusters. The institute houses research groups from a number of Schools within UCD, notably computer science. It is located in the Belfield Business Park at the northern end of the main UCD campus. The institute is involved in all aspects of research into complex systems from atomistic models, through to societal modelling.

Frescati House (sometimes misspelled 'Frascati') was a Georgian house and estate situated in Blackrock, Dublin. It was built in 1739 for the family of John Hely Hutchinson, the Provost of Trinity College.

Ballycorus (Irish: Baile Mhic Fheorais, meaning 'Town of the Pearse Family') leadmines is a former lead mining and smelting centre located in the townland of the same name, near Kilternan in County Dublin, Ireland. The mine opened around 1807 and was taken over by the Mining Company of Ireland (MCI) in 1826 who owned and operated the site up until closure in 1913. After the mine was exhausted in the 1860s, Ballycorus continued to operate as a smelting facility receiving ore from other MCI sites such as the mines in Glendalough, County Wicklow. The most distinctive surviving remnant of the site is the ruin of the flue chimney that lies close to the summit of Carrickgollogan hill. Further down the slopes of the hill, many other former buildings and structures from the leadworks can also be found.

Loughlinstown (Irish: Baile Uí Lachnáin, meaning 'O'Laughnan's town') is a suburb on the southern outskirts of Dublin, Ireland. It is in the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown council area, 14 km south-east of the city centre, on the N11 road.

Sallynoggin (Irish: An Naigín) is an area of Dublin in Ireland, in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, County Dublin. The area consists mainly of former local authority housing built between the late 1940s and the mid-1950s by the Corporation of Dún Laoghaire.

Goatstown (Irish: Baile na nGabhar) is a small Southside suburb of Dublin, Ireland. To the west is Dundrum, to the east is Blackrock, to the south is Kilmacud, and to the north is Clonskeagh. The area is bordered by Mount Merrion to which it shares many local amenities. Entrances to University College Dublin can be found on Roebuck Road, and due to the area's proximity to the campus, the suburb is highly attractive to university students. It is mainly a residential area, with a primary school called Our Lady's Grove, two all-girls secondary schools, Mount Anville Secondary School, and Our Lady's Grove Secondary School (Previously called Jesus and Mary), and an Educate Together secondary school called Goatstown Educate Together Secondary School, formerly situated in Churchtown. There are amenities such as restaurants, a pub, a post office and various shops. With the recent implementation of the frequent S6 bus route to Blackrock via UCD Belfield recently, the area now benefits from connection to the DART line, as well as being served by the 11 Dublin Bus route through the centre of the village.

Bluebell (Irish: An Cloigín Gorm) is a small suburb of Dublin, Ireland. Situated approximately 6 kilometres south-west of the city centre, on the Camac, a Liffey tributary, the suburb borders the Grand Canal and Ballyfermot to the west, Walkinstown & Drimnagh to the east, Inchicore to the north, and Clondalkin to the south.

The station broadcasts on the 98.1 MHz FM frequency. 98FM's broadcast antenna is located on Three Rock Mountain, County Dublin at 5 kW, and can be heard in Dublin and neighbouring counties. 98FM also has a relay in north County Dublin, broadcasting on 97.4 MHz. Rathdown (Irish: Ráth an Dúin) is the south-easternmost barony in County Dublin, Ireland. It gives its name to the county of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. Before County Wicklow was shired in 1606, Rathdown extended further south: it was named after a medieval settlement which grew up around Rathdown Castle, at a site subsequently deserted and now in County Wicklow in the townland of Rathdown Upper, north of Greystones. The Wicklow barony of Rathdown corresponds to the portion transferred to the new county; although both divisions were originally classed as "half baronies", in the nineteenth century the distinction between a barony and a half barony was obsolete.

Elian's Dublin was a private Spanish international school in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland, 18 kilometres (11 mi) from the centre of Dublin. The Spanish government recognised it as a Centro Privado Español en el Extranjero, and it offered primary through bachillerato (high school) classes. A part of the IALE Elian's education group, it was located in Jubilee Hall, a castle in Bray.

On Saturday, 10 October 2015, a blaze swept through a halting site at Carrickmines in County Dublin, Ireland. It proved fatal. This was the country's deadliest such disaster since the Stardust fire. The fire led to a debate about the squalid conditions in which many members of the Irish travelling community live.

Woodbrook Cricket Club Ground was a cricket ground in Bray, Ireland. It was owned and built by Sir Stanley Cochrane, 1st Baronet as the home ground of Woodbrook Cricket Club. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1907, when Ireland played Yorkshire in a first-class match. Further first-class matches were held on the ground in 1909 when SH Cochrane's XI played the touring Australians, there were three further in 1912 when Woodbrook Club and Ground played the touring South Africans, Ireland played the same opposition, and C.B. Fry's XI played the touring Australians. This was the last recorded match on the ground.

RCSI Graduate School of Healthcare Management (GSM) is a school of healthcare management and medical education at the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences based in Dublin, Ireland.

Billings Park is a GAA ground in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland. It is one of the sports pitches at University College Dublin and is located on its Belfield campus. The pitch is named after Dave Billings, a former UCD student who spent 18 years as Head of Gaelic Games in UCD.

Bray Wanderers Football Club are an Irish association football club playing in the League of Ireland First Division. The club in its present form was founded in 1942 in Bray, and was known until 2010 as Bray Wanderers A.F.C. It was elected to the league in 1985, and plays its home matches at the Carlisle Grounds. The club colours are green and white, and it goes by the nickname "The Seagulls".

Ballymun Kickhams (Irish: Ciceam Bhaile Munna ) is a GAA club in Ballymun, Dublin, Ireland. The club has a clubhouse and its home pitch, Pairc Ciceam, just off the Ballymun (junction 4) exit of the M50. Ballymun also has a full size astroturf pitch. The club derives its name from Charles Joseph Kickham (1828–1882). They last won the Dublin Senior Football Championship in 2020.

Bord Iascaigh Mhara or BIM (Irish pronunciation: [ˌbˠoːɾˠd̪ˠ ˈiəsˠkəj ˈwaɾˠə]; meaning "Sea Fisheries Board") is the Irish state agency for developing the Irish marine fishing and aquaculture industries. Originally established under the Sea Fisheries Act, 1952, the organisation provides resources to the fishing industry, particularly in aquaculture, as well as providing information and promoting seafood to consumers. Naomh Olaf is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which was founded in 1981 to provide facilities for encouraging the sporting abilities of the people of the developing parish of Balally in south County Dublin, Ireland. A club house was built and players were recruited from around the area, most of them coming from the local schools of St Olaf's, Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille, St Benildus College, and St Tiernan's.
