The village is located on the left bank of the river Arda. The nearest villages are Plati to its northeast and Fylakio to its south.

The town was formerly known as Karagatsoudi (Καραγατσούδι) and El-Karakas (Ελ-Καράκας), its Turkish name was Karaagaç. The nearest villages are Dikaia to its east, and Ormenio to its northwest.

In 2021 its population was 571 for the community and 1,732 for the municipal unit. Kyprinos is located southwest of Edirne, Turkey, west-northwest of Orestiada, north of Alexandroupoli and about 5 to 6 km east of Kurdzhali and the Bulgarian frontier, where there is a border crossing. Athens is approximately 1,050 km to the southwest. Komara is on the other side of the river Ardas.

Ο Τύμβος Μικρής Δοξιπάρας-Ζώνης είναι ένα Ρωμαϊκό ταφικό μνημείο/Τύμβος το οποίο χρονολογείται από το 2ο αιώνα μ.Χ. και βρίσκεται κοντά στα χωριά Μικρή Δοξιπάρα, Ζώνη και Χελιδόνα στο Νομό Έβρου . Βρίσκεται 33,5 χιλιόμετρα δυτικά από το Διδυμότειχο και 30,6 χιλιόμετρα δυτικά από την Ορεστιάδα . Σήμερα ο τύμβος δεν είναι οργανωμένος αρχαιολογικός χώρος αλλά ανασκαφή στην οποία επιτρέπεται η επίσκεψη σε τουρίστες. Η ανασκαφική έρευνα ξεκίνησε το 2002 από την ΙΘ΄Εφορεία Προϊστορικών και Κλασικών Αρχαιοτήτων Θράκης .
