Palau

Melekeok (English: ) is a town in the State of Melekeok (one of Palau's sixteen states). It is located on the east coast of Palau's largest island, Babeldaob.

Koror is the state comprising the main commercial centre of the Republic of Palau. It consists of several islands, the most prominent being Koror Island (also Oreor Island). It is Palau’s most populous state.

Jellyfish Lake (Palauan: Ongeim'l Tketau, lit. 'Fifth Lake') is a marine lake located on Eil Malk island in Palau. Eil Malk is a part of the Rock Islands, a group of small, rocky, mostly uninhabited islands in Palau's Southern Lagoon, between Koror and Peleliu. There are about 70 other marine lakes located throughout the Rock Islands. Millions of golden jellyfish migrate horizontally across the lake daily.

Elab (Chelab) is a village in the state of Ngaraard in northern Palau, north of the villages of Ngebuked and Ulimang. It is the home to Ngaraard's only private Christian (Protestant) high school, Bethania Girl's High School in Ngesang, a small portion of Elab village. In Ngesang, there is a Catholic church located here and a beautiful, white and shady beach, with rock outcroppings.

Aimeliik is an administrative division of the island country of Palau. It is one of the Republic of Palau's 16 states. It has an area of 52 km² and a population of 334 (census 2015). The state capital is the village of Mongami. The four other villages are Medorm, Imul, Elechui and Ngmechiangel.

Airai, located on the southern coast of Babeldaob island, is the second-most populous state of Palau, and the most populous on Babeldaob. It contains the country's chief airport, Roman Tmetuchl International Airport, and is connected by the Koror–Babeldaob Bridge to nearby Koror Island.

Malakal Island ("Ngemelachel" in Palauan) is an island in the state of Koror, Palau. It is the site of Palau's main port, Malakal Harbor, as well as its fisheries. It is linked to Koror by a causeway. The Palau Royal Resort, a luxury oceanside destination, is on Malakal Island.

Ngebuked is a village on the west coast of Ngaraard State, Palau, where the Chief of Ngaraard, Maderangebuked is from. It has many stone pathways, ruins and graves scattered all over the surrounding hamlet. Its ruins consist of multi-leveled platforms where clans and families lived. At the center of the ancient site is the Bai ra Ngeruau, a large high platform where a bai, or men's meeting house, stood. The village even has a man-made channel from the sea for easy fishing and transportation access in ancient times.

The Battle of Peleliu, codenamed Operation Stalemate II by the US military, was fought between the United States and Japan during the Mariana and Palau Islands campaign of World War II, from 15 September to 27 November 1944, on the island of Peleliu.

Ngerekebesang Island (alternative names: Arakabesan) is an island in the state of Koror, Palau, where the office of the President of the Republic of Palau was located before the capital was moved to Ngerulmud. It is composed of three towns: Ngerekebesang, Meyuns, and Echang (in Southwest Islanders Village), where most Southwest Islanders moved to after a storm struck the southwest islands. They were later resettled.

The Battle of Angaur was a major battle of the Pacific campaign in World War II, fought on the island of Angaur in the Palau Islands from 17 September to 22 October 1944. This battle was part of a larger offensive campaign known as Operation Forager which ran from June to November 1944 in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and Operation Stalemate II in particular.

The Palau National Stadium (PCC Track & Field Stadium) is a multi-purpose sports stadium in Koror City, Palau. It is used primarily for track and field events as well as many football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 4,000.

Lake Ngardok is a lake on the Palauan island of Babeldaob, in the State of Melekeok. It is the largest natural freshwater lake in all of the islands of Micronesia. The lake and the marshes surrounding it are a refuge for the endangered saltwater crocodile (ius), and it is an important breeding location for them. The Ngerdorch River serves as a route that connects crocodiles with the sea. The lake is approximately 493 hectares with an ecosystem that provides a habitat for plants, wildlife, and birds, some of which are found only in the Palau Islands. These include the endemic Palau fruit dove (biib), Palau fantail (melimdelebdeb), Micronesian imperial-pigeon (belochel), common moorhens and Pacific black ducks (both called debar), Palau flycatcher (charmelachull), and a fruit bat species (olik). The Chief Council of Melekeok State has established the Ngardok Nature Reserve to protect the watershed's slow degradation process, because the importance of the forests are critical to preserving the water quality in the lake. The lake however will soon be established as a reservoir for Ngerulmud, Palau's new national capital in Melekeok.

Ngercheu, or Carp Island, is a small island located within the nation of Palau, specifically within the state of Peleliu. Located approximately 10 kilometers north of Peleliu and 61 kilometers southwest of the capital Ngerulmud, it covers an area of about 1 km². Ngercheu is notable for its long-running land ownership dispute between branches of the Edaruchei clan, which culminated in a series of court decisions between 2021 and 2024. The island is also home to the Carp Island Resort, a private diving resort that attracts tourists for its snorkelling and scuba diving activities.

Ngerukewid or Ngerukeuid (also known as Orukuizu) is a set of islands located inside the Palau's lagoon. The set contains 37 small raised coral islands, which range in size from 0.1 to 48.5 ha, and amount to total land area of 87.3 ha. The islands and the area around them are protected under the Ngerukewid Islands Wildlife Preserve, which was established in 1956.

Urdmang is a village in the northwest of Babeldaob, the main island of Micronesian republic of Palau. It is the capital of the Ngardmau state.

Kloulklubed, also spelled Klouklubed, is the main settlement on the Palauan island of Peleliu. It is situated at the northern end of the island, located near Imelchol Village and Koska. The village was a centre of Japanese operations during World War II, and the remains of the Japanese communications centre is still standing in the village. A monument to the Battle of Peleliu is also located in the village.

Imeong is a village in Palau, and the capital of the state of Ngaremlengui. The population is 132 (2009).

Mengellang is a village in Palau and the capital of the state of Ngarchelong. The village is below the Baderulchau state mountains and is 900m west from Imetang.

The village of Ulimang is where the Ngaraard State Office (Ngaraard Branch) is located. Another state office branch is located in Meketii, Koror. Ngaraard Elementary school is located here. Ulimang's coast is an orange, sandy beach, and a small, high dock reaching out into the ocean. There is a large, red, public resting house near the dock. The villages of Ngesang in Elab are located north of this village. To the west is Ngebuked and to the south is Ngkeklau.

Meyuns is the second most populous city of Palau, with a population of approximately 1,000. It is located in the state of Koror, where the nation's largest city, Koror, is located. Other than Koror, Meyuns is the only sizable city in the state of Koror. Unlike the city of Koror, Meyuns is on Ngerekebesang Island, along with the towns of Ngerekebesang and Echang (part of Southwest Islanders Village), although Meyuns is the only city that is incorporated on the island. It is linked by a causeway to Oreor Island, where the city of Koror is situated. Meyuns is the location of Belau National Hospital, the largest hospital in the country.

Bablomekang is an island in the Rock Islands of Palau. It was last inhabited 2004, when inhabitants decided to move due to floodings.

The Belau National Museum (BNM), previously Palau Museum, is a museum in Koror, Palau. It is the oldest continuously run museum in Micronesia.

Choll (or Chol) is a village at the northern end of Ngaraard State in Palau. This village consists of a large, long, beach that runs along its entire east coast. The village has a series of ancient paths and platforms, similar to the rest of the villages in Ngaraard. There is also a large man-made channel that connects the village to the sea on the western coast. At the center of the village, along the compact road, there is a small marketplace with benches where one can purchase some village refreshments.

Chomedokl is an island of Palau. It is most known for its north cave entrance, which is a World Heritage Site listed by UNESCO.

Ngkeklau is a populated area in the southern region of the state of Ngaraard in the Republic of Palau. The town has a small population, on the east coastal plains of Ngaraard. The town includes several ancient relics of stone, such as stone paths, platforms, and burial sites.

Ollei (Sometimes called Konlei, as well as variations of the two names, such as Konrei and Olei) is a small fishing village in the Pacific island nation of Palau. It has a population of slightly over 100 [1] people and is located in the State of Ngarchelong, near the northern tip of the Babeldaob island. The village is built along a single road which connects it the rest of the island. Facing west from the village is a large boating dock, which juts out about one fifth of a mile into the ocean [2]. The nearest populated village is that of Mengellang, the capital of the state.

It was built by the Kajima Corporation of Japan in 2002, to replace the former bridge built by Socio Construction Co. of South Korea in 1978 which collapsed in 1996.

Ongael Island is an island in Koror State, Palau. It is the location of the famous Ongael Lake.

Meteu 'L Klechem is a historic stone monolith in Melekeok, a community on the island of Babeldaob, the largest island in the nation of Palau. It is a roughly octagonal stone, 7 feet (2.1 m) long and 2 feet (0.61 m) thick, and weighing about 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg). When recorded in 1976, it was used as a bridge across a local stream. The monolith is historically significant for its association with Metau, a warrior of the late 18th century. In 1785 Metau was ambushed and killed on Koror Island in revenge for attacks he had made on Yapese boats headed there. His body was held as a ransom, and was laid on this stone. Metau's brother Reklai paid the ransom (the then-large equivalent of $60,000), and in 1795 the stone and body were transported to Melekeok for burial. The stone sat at the main pier at Beriber until 1948, when it was moved to its present location.

The Sacred Heart Church is the name of a religious building affiliated to the Catholic Church that is located in the main street of the city of Koror in the island and state of the same name in Palau, a country in Oceania to the west of the Pacific Ocean. Nearby is the Maris Stella School and the Etpison Museum.

Imetang is a village in Ngarchelong, Palau. It falls into the definition of a linear settlement as it is based along a roughly linear road, although it is not entirely straight. It contains the Ngarchelong Evangelical Church, the sole church in Ngarchelong.

Ibobang is a village in Ngatpang, Palau. It consists of a roughly linear settlement, farmland, and a marina.

Ngermid is a village in Koror, Palau, bordering Nikko Bay. The nearby Itungelbai river runs from its source in Ngermid through a short, narrow gorge to the sea.

Ngetbong is a village in Ngardmau, Palau, near the bay Ngeriklreker. The Taoch ra Iwekei river runs through it.

Ngriil is a village on the north coast of Babeldaob, in the Ngarchelong state of Palau, on the southern border with Ngaraard state.

Southwest Islanders Village is a small village near Meyuns in Koror, Palau. It consists of a village called Echang (pronounced "Aye-ong") and a jetty.

Palasia Hotel is a hotel in Koror, Palau. It is the tallest building in Palau with 10 floors and a height of around 36m. The building cost $1 million to build and was funded by Taiwan.

Merir, or Melieli, is a small outlying island of the Palau group, in the western Pacific Ocean. The island has an area of 0.90 square kilometres (0.35 sq mi) and is very long and narrow, stretching approximately 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) from north to south but only approximately 667 metres (2,190 ft) at its widest point. It is uninhabited. An abandoned village which previously hosted a radio station lies in the northwest part of the island.

Fana Island, or Fanna Island, is a 40 ha, uplifted reef island in the state of Sonsorol in the Southwest Islands of Palau in Micronesia in the south-west Pacific Ocean. It is flat, low-lying and susceptible to storms. Although uninhabited, it is occasionally visited by people from nearby Sonsorol Island.

Tobi is an island in the Palauan state of Hatohobei. Tobi Island is 1.6 km long and 0.8 km wide, and has an area of about 0.85 square kilometres (0.33 sq mi). With a population of 39 according to a 2020 census, it holds all of the state's people, with the exception of a weather base on Helen Island. Most of the inhabitants live on the island's west side and speak Tobian.

Tobi, or Hatohobei (Tobian), is the southernmost of Palau's sixteen states, consisting of Tobi Island and Helen Reef. The total land area is about 0.88 km². The population was 25 in 2015. Tobian, English, and Sonsorolese are the official languages of Hatohobei State.
