Samidare (五月雨, "Early Summer Rain") was the fifth of ten Shiratsuyu-class destroyers, built for the Imperial Japanese Navy under the Circle One Program (Maru Ichi Keikaku).

Naval Base Kossol Roads also called Naval Base Kossol Passage was a major United States Navy base at Kossol Roads in northern Palau in the western Caroline Islands in the western Pacific Ocean during World War II. Kossol Roads lagoon is surrounded by fringing coral reef. The base was built to support the island hopping Pacific War efforts of the allied nations fighting the Empire of Japan. In terms of the number of ships at one base, Naval Base Kossol Roads was one of the largest Naval Base in the world in 1944 and 1945. Naval Base Kossol Roads was unique, as it was the only large US Naval base to have no shore facilities. Kossol Roads was part of US Naval Base Carolines.

Kossol Roads is a large body of reef-enclosed water north of Babeldaob in northern Palau at 07°48′N 134°36′E.

The South Seas Mandate, officially the Mandate for the German Possessions in the Pacific Ocean Lying North of the Equator, was a League of Nations mandate in the "South Seas" given to the Empire of Japan by the League of Nations following World War I. The mandate consisted of islands in the north Pacific Ocean that had been part of German New Guinea within the German colonial empire until they were occupied by Japan during World War I. Japan governed the islands under the mandate as part of the Japanese colonial empire until World War II, when the United States captured the islands. The islands then became the United Nations-established Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands governed by the United States. The islands are now part of Palau, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Kayangel (Ngcheangel) is the northernmost state of Palau 86 km (53 mi) north of Koror. The land area is about 1.4 km² (0.54 sq mi). The population is 54 (2015 census). There is one hamlet in the state - Orukei, which is also its capital. In 2020, Richard Ngiraked was elected governor of the state.

Ongeluluul ("place where one whispers" in Palauan) is a historic stone platform in Melekeok, a community on Babeldaob, the largest island of the island nation of Palau. It is located in Old Melekok Village, about 100 yards (91 m) from the boathouse at the shore. It is separated from the main road by a small creek. The platform measures about 20 by 20 feet (6.1 m × 6.1 m), and was originally fashioned out of finely paved stones, although it was in deteriorated condition when surveyed in 1976. The site is of local historical significance as a place where important secret meetings of local leaders took place, and is a type of site other major Palauan communities have. This platform was erected in 1750, and was the site of two significant peace treaties in Palauan history: one in 1793 and the other in 1870. The latter peace treaty marked the end of organized warfare between the clans of Palau.

The 2004 Palau Soccer League was the first season of association football competition in Palau. The league was won by Daewoo Ngatpang The league consisted of three rounds of matches, a play-off final and was named the Palau Soccer Association Local League.

The 2006–07 Palau Soccer League was the fourth season of association football competition in Palau and the first to straddle two calendar years. The league was won by Team Bangladesh, their second title.

The Taiwanese Ambassador to Palau is the official representative of the Republic of China to the Republic of Palau.

Odalmelech is a prehistoric large carved stone face of a god-king, and surrounding garden with additional carved stones, in Melekeok, on Babelthuap island of the nation of Palau. It was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1976; the listing includes the Odalmelech stone itself and several others.

The Japanese destroyer Kiku (菊) was one of 21 Momi-class destroyers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) in the late 1910s. She was converted into a patrol boat in 1940 and spent the Pacific War on escort duties, mostly in Japanese waters. The ship was sunk by American carrier aircraft in early 1944.

Ulong is a major island and channel of western Palau. It is sometimes called Aulong and originally written Oroolong in English. Ulong is regarded by many as one of the best drift dives in the world.

Koror Jail is a prison located in Palau. It is the only prison in Palau, and it is located on the island of Koror in a governmental centre between federal office buildings and the Palau National Congress. The 1 600 m² prison consists of two structures built in the 1970s and one constructed in the 1990s, and it is surrounded by an 2.4 m wire mesh fence and an 2.4 m concrete wall; a wall from the neighboring Ministry of Justice building also serves as a jail barrier.

Ngesang is a small portion of the village of Elab, Palau, and the area where most of Elab's inhabitants live. It is also the location of Ngaraard's Bethania High School for girls. Ngesang is located on the eastern shore of Ngaraard State. It has shady beaches canopied with large trees. On the northern end of Ngesang is the beginning of the ancient stone pathways that connects the east and the west coasts. Ngesang Chief is Uong and the meeting bai for men and women club is BairaTuich.

No. 1 was a No.1-class landing ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Pacific War. Completed in early 1944, the ship was used as a convoy escort on one successful mission to resupply Imperial Japanese Army units on Saipan. On the return trip, No. 1 was badly damaged by American aircraft and towed to Palau. Redesignated as an anti-aircraft ship, she was sunk by American bombers in July 1944.

Ngereklemadel is a hamlet and capital of the state of Ngatpang in Palau.

Palau has a bicameral legislature, the Palau National Congress (Palauan: Olbiil era Kelulau), consisting of the House of Delegates and the Senate of Palau, which both sit at the capitol complex in Ngerulmud, Melekeok State. The House of Delegates has 16 members, each serving four-year terms in single-seat constituencies. The Senate has 13 members, also serving four-year terms in multi-seat constituencies. In the last elections, held in 2020, only non-partisans were elected; no political parties exist.

The Rock Islands of Palau, also called Chelbacheb, are a collection of several hundred small limestone or coral uprises in the Southern Lagoon of Palau between Koror and Peleliu, now an incorporated part of Koror State. There are between 250 and 300 islands in the group according to different sources, with an aggregate area of 42 square kilometers (16 sq mi) and a maximum height of 207 meters (679 ft). The islands were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012.

German Channel is an artificial channel dug into the Palau's barrier reef in the south-west that connects the lagoon to the Pacific Ocean. The channel was made by the Germans around the end of 1908 during the time when Palau was a German colony to shorten the transport route from the island of Angaur, located outside the reef and where phosphate was mined, to the northeastern port of Koror. Presently, it is a popular dive site.

The third USS Perry (DD-340/DMS-17) was a Clemson-class destroyer in the United States Navy following World War I. She was one of eight ships named for Oliver Hazard Perry.

Blue Corner is a section of Palau's barrier reef in the south-east of Koror, close to Ngerukewid and German Channel. Its triangular shape, with step walls on the Pacific Ocean sides, resembles a submerged peninsula. In the north part of the Blue Corner, there is a large underwater cavern called Blue Holes. Due to a high variety of corals and wildlife in the area, the Blue Corner is a popular recreational dive site. It is variously called "the most requested dive in Palau" and "one of the most action-packed scuba dive sites in the world."

The Southwest Islands of Palau are several small islands spread across the Pacific Ocean about 600 km from the main island chain of Palau. They make up the Palauan states of Sonsorol and Hatohobei. The nearshore islands to the southwest of the main island of Palau (Babeldaob), which belong to the states of Koror, Peleliu and Angaur and the unincorporated Rock Islands, are not considered part of the Southwest Islands.
