Η Καλλιθέα είναι μεγάλος συνοικισμός της πόλης της Ξάνθης με περίπου 1.100 κατοίκους το 2001, κοντά στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Ξάνθης. Δημιουργήθηκε με την ανέγερση του 3ου οικισμού Εργατικών Κατοικιών, μετά απ΄ αυτούς του Σιδηροδρομικού Σταθμού και της περιοχής Στρατοπέδων. Η πλειοψηφία των κατοίκων του συνοικισμού προέρχεται από τα χωριά του νομού. Στην Καλλιθέα εδρεύει το 17ο δημοτικό σχολείο Ξάνθης και το αντίστοιχο νηπιαγωγείο. Για τη σύνδεση με την πόλη της Ξάνθης υπάρχει γραμμή αστικού λεωφορείου με πολλά ημερήσια δρομολόγια. Η Καλλιθέα απέχει λιγότερο από 1.5 χιλιόμετρο από την πόλη της Ξάνθης μέσω της οδού Εθελοντή Αιμοδότη. Πηγαίνοντας κανείς στην Καλλιθέα μέσω αυτού του δρόμου θα περάσει μπροστά από το γενικό νοσοκομείο της πόλης. Στην Καλλιθέα στεγάζεται παράρτημα του ΚΑΠΗ Ξάνθης.

Ο μακεδονικός τάφος στη Σταυρούπολη Ξάνθης χρονολογείται στο πρώτο μισό του 2ου αιώνα π.Χ. και βρέθηκε συλημένος. Αποτελείται από καμαροσκέπαστο εσωτερικό δρόμο, προθάλαμο και νεκρικό θάλαμο. Στο εσωτερικό του θαλάμου εντοπίστηκαν δύο μαρμάρινες κλίνες τοποθετημένες γωνιακά, με διπλά προσκεφάλαια στα άκρα. Τα ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστικά του τάφου είναι αφενός, ο στεγασμένος δρόμος και αφετέρου, η απουσία κονιαμάτων στις επιφάνειες των τοίχων. The Nestos (Greek: Νέστος [ˈnestos]), Mesta (Bulgarian: Места [ˈmɛstɐ]) is a river in Bulgaria and Greece. It rises in the Rila Mountains and flows into the Aegean Sea near the island of Thasos. It plunges down towering canyons toward the Aegean Sea through mostly metamorphic formations. At the end, the main stream spreads over the coastal plain of Chrysoupolis and expands as a deltaic system with freshwater lakes and ponds forming the Nestos delta. The length of the river is 230 km (140 mi), of which 126 km (78 mi) flow through Bulgaria and the rest in Greece. Its drainage area is 5,184 km2 (2,002 sq mi), of which 66% is in Bulgaria. It forms some gorges in Rila and Pirin. The longest gorge between Pirin to the west and the Rhodope Mountains to the east is the 25-km long Momina Klisura in Bulgaria.

Oraio (Greek: Ωραίο, romanized: Oraío, Bulgarian: Брещене, Орайово) is a settlement in the municipality Myki in the Xanthi regional unit of Greece. Oraio is a Pomak Muslims majority village. It was founded in the 12th century AD, when its population was still Bulgarian Christian. The conversion to Islam occurred during the period 17th-18th century. Following the First Balkan War, Bulgaria took possession of Oraio in 1912, but after a period of eight months it was taken back by the Greek army. Shortly thereafter, as part of the accords concluding the Balkan Wars, Oraio and Western Thrace were ceded to Bulgaria and remained a part of the latter until the end of World War I. Following the Bulgarian defeat in this war, Western Thrace, and thus Oraio, was given to Greece in the second half of April 1920 at San Remo conference of the prime ministers of the main allies of the Entente powers (except the US). Later in 1923 it was left to Greece with the rest of Western Thrace region by the Treaty of Lausanne. It was occupied by Bulgaria in the period 1941–1944 during World War II. Later in 1944 it was left to Greece.
